  1. I have been banded for four months and have the same problem. It was getting so out of control that I had my surgeon remove some fluid last week which has helped some. I would burp and burp and burp and then get sick and then get a horrid headache... It was no good. I notice sometimes the burping is better than other days and I have not figured out what makes the difference... Hope to hear some solutions. Thanks for posting!
  2. So I have made some bad choices since I got banded. My first fill is tomorrow and I have to say I am very nervous. After surgery I was doing great. I was not hungry. I did not have any cravings. I wasn't even interested in food. It was just the way I thought it would be. Then.... I got super sick. A horrible horrible respiratory infection which required me to miss work. In our family we feed our colds... to feel better. food is a comfort when I am sick and I have to say in my weakness I resorted back to my old ways and now I am feeling the cravings and making bad choices. Once I realized I could eat regular food I haven't stopped. I will say I eat less, but still frequently. The reason I am nervous is I now have to go face my surgeon and nutritionist tomorrow...I haven't gained any weight, but I have not lost a pd in over four weeks... I am hoping this is the reality check I need to get back on track and that once I get some Fluid in the band I will not experience the same cravings. I want to get healthier, but it's like this self destructive part of me keeps saying oh just go ahead and have it. I felt so good the next day when I was able to say no to it. It is like the more food I eat the more it feeds that part of my mind and makes it stronger. I didn't expect to feel this way... Please keep me in your thoughts. Maybe I will feel the energy and it will give the me the strength I need to Just Say No to Food! Thanks for listening

    So Incredibly CUTE!!
  5. You are so lucky to have gotten plication. I asked my surgeon to included that in my surgery and he told me no He explained why and I understand his reasoning behind it, but still I thought it would help me even more.
  6. My doctor scheduled my first first at my 1st week follow up appointment for six weeks after surgery. He said he needs to make sure I have healed all the way before he puts a fill in. Hope this helps!
  7. I was banded on Jan. 13th. Since that time I have graduated up to regular foods. I never realized how much junk and food I ate before banding until these last couple of weeks. It amazes me how many times a day I have to decline food that is offered to me or is just out and available for anyone to take. What amazes me more is how in the past I took advantage of most of those opportunities. We went to dinner tonight and I had a few different foods and then later to Tar get'. At the store one of the kids wanted a snack and got a pretzel, I got a drink. She offered tastes of the pretzel to me three times, all of which I declined and it was not a big deal. Then when we got home one of the other kids insisted I have a piece of chocolate even though I declined. I have to say I am sooooo proud of myself. In the past not only would I have had a snack with the kids, I would have had my own candy bar. Instead I have a drink and my yummy Icebreaker gums in grape, lemon, and strawberry smoothie. They are soooo good and just as satisfying as the junk food. When the flavor starts to dwindle away if my craving for a snack hasn't passed I pop a couple new pieces in. I get the satisfaction of the chewing and the great flavor. Whatever it Takes!! Congrats to all the new banders! We are on a journey of self discovery!
  8. Congratulations!!! Sounds like you are off to a great start! Glad surgery went well. Now time to heal Rest up and take your pain meds! Doc prescribed them for a reason
  9. Thanks blueturtle for your well wishes. I am just waiting for my turn on Monday please keep me in you prayers. Will Do Mz Eboni
  10. I experienced the same thing with the gas. It wasn't so bad the first few days, but then it got rough! It did go away for me, but I am still carrying around the Gas-x strips in case I need them! Congratulations on your progress! Keep up the good work!
  11. Wow! Look at all the people who got banded between yesterday and today. Congratulations Ladies!! You are on your way to Recovery and the next step in your journey! Take it easy for the next few days and think about YOU and how you are going to meet your goals. You went through a lot to get here, but there is still a long road ahead until you get to where you want to be. What I love about this site is that we take good care of each other!
  12. I have had pains like that too. Sometimes my left sometimes my rt. Gas?
  13. I was thinking the same thing. I have 5 incisions as well!

    protein shakes

I got the Muscle Milk (chocolate) 100 calories kind and did not like it at all. There was a big after taste. What I did LOVE was unjury brand Protein Shakes, you can only get them on-line (or that is the only place I have found them). They have around 22 grams of protein and 100 calories. They have a neat sample pack with a variety of flavors. I tried Unjury and nothing else has compared. No after taste and it is actually good! Hope this helps and Good Luck to you all!
  15. Sooo.... 6 days after banding. Physically I feel a lot better. I am up and moving, going to the store, went to school on Friday. I'm still sore when I sit up or drive for a long period of time. The port site is tender. Mentally is another story. I don't want this stinkin liquid diet! I want to eat what everyone else is eating!! That was my feel sorry for me rant. I am proud of myself. Yesterday I was with two people that wanted McDonalds, I was driver and took them through it without getting anything. Then today I took someone else McDonalds per their request and just got a drink. I had the drink (frappe') for lunch while he had a meal. I didn't even finish the frappe' which in the past has not usually happened. Those were both situations when I could have given in, but didn't, not even a french fry. I told myself I might as well as get used to no french fries, b/c they are not part of my food choice future. There are so many food related trials I am going through every minute of every day. I'm getting through them, but I did not think the mental part of this would be as difficult as it is. I'm still trudging through and I will be so happy to see the physician on Monday to get the okay to eat regular foods. By the way I think Muscle Milk the chocolate 100 calorie kind is yucky!!! I'm really like the unjury brand for Protein shakes the chocolate, chocolate supreme and strawberry sorbet have been awesome!

    Just wanting to say hello

I was put on a low fat low carb diet. I did okay with it. It was definitely hard to stick to when others around me were eating what i would have loved to of eat. I am four days post-op and I too really like the unjury Protein shakes. They taste great. I also got muscle milk and it was not nearly as good. The Unjury brand is also lactose free so it helps to avoid the diarrhea some people experience post op. I mix mine with light soy milk. I have gotten some great smooth soups by the Imagine brand. They are organic and considered a "health" food in my grocery store, but they too taste great and are a perfect consistency for post band. I will be on a liquid diet for at least 7 days. Until my post-op appt. Besides Water I am also drinking lots of tea. I add soy milk to it and that helps the taste and gives me more Calcium. Good luck to you and I agree with TMF, keep reading these forums to see what exactly you're getting yourself into. Most do not have a storybook journey. It is a lot of work!

    Excited for tomorrow!

    Congratulations!! You will do GREAT!!
  19. Day Three Post Op and I got a little brave today. I decided to shower, get dressed and go to the grocery store I needed more soy milk and some Soup. The broth got old, quickly. I definitely overdid it. But it was good to get out. I hadn't taken any pain medication until I got home from the store. So that was a good sign. My cart was healthy when I left. Very few carbs! It is really hard to be on a liquid diet, but I'm making it through each day. I keep reminding myself I'm on this diet b/c my tummy need to heal! Staying Strong on Day Three. Congrats to all the new Bandsters. Hope your recovery is going well!
  20. I will tell you all I started thinking about lap band in November of 2012. Had all the mtgs, was ready to schedule surgery & then backed out. I tried weight watchers & to do it on my own, but unfortunately it didn't work. I could progressively see my body getting more & more unhealthy. I made the decision in November of 2013 to start the process again & got banded on the 13th of January. The thing is nothing else worked for me. I weighed the options & this is my last resort. You have to look at your options & past to determine if WLS is rt for you. You know you the best. Research research research is my other recommendation! Good luck to you. You will make the decision best for you
  21. I have chicken broth, G2, tea, Diet hot cocoa & Jell-o on hand too. Alot of variety bc I know I'll get bored fast.
  22. Had my surgery yesterday & am doing fairly well today. It's funny how much I think about food now post surgery. Everything went really well before & after surgery. I was actually asking if I could go home b4 they were telling me it was time to go. I used ice packs at gone & my pain meds & am doing well. Glad to be on this side Finally!
  23. Wow what great advice on here everyone. I too am wondering how I'm going to get through the first week. It is day one post op and I'm all ready hungry! I know I will be in the bathroom a lot with all these clear liquids! One thing that was stressed to me many times yesterday before and after surgery was to call my physician if I had any concerns or questions. I think the question you posted is a very appropriate one to ask your surgeon. This way you won't have to worry "did I do the right thing." Take care of yourself

    First Day Back to Work!

I'm so glad your first day back went well! It is crazy how life doesn't stop even when we do! Glad you were able to jump right back in How many days after surgery did you wait to go back to work? We are super short handed at work rt now and the timing of my surgery was not ideal, but it was planned b4 unseen circumstances occurred. It was a kind of now or never thing for me b/c if I didn't have it last week or this week it would have been months b/c I'm also in school and we have presentations and papers that are due and I have to be in tip top shape for those! Anyways, I am trying to figure out when to go back. I have taken a week, but hope to not need it all.
  25. Well you learned from it. Plus sushi is a fish and the point of the diet is to be low carb low fat. I can't imagine that sushi has lots of carbs or fat. Now it's out of your system and your ready to stay on track! Good luck Thursday! Its natural to be nervous. I kept looking at it as a step in the right direction. Most of us made this choice b/c nothing else worked. It is what we have left to try to get the healthier lifestyle we all want, but for whatever reason are unable to attain without an internal tool. See ya on the other side
