I have been diagnosed with PCOS since 22. I have been active all my life and continue to exercise, eat holistically and an a bit of a Yogi. (In case you haven't guessed I reside in CA) I was thin I high school until 20 when I started to gain mystery weight. I was diagnosed by 9 doctors and finally in 2003 a doctor found PCOS as the cause of my weight problem. I was given Spironolactone and Metphormine to treat my metabolic problem. I lost 30 lbs only to find them again 3 years later. Before weight loss surgery my heaviest was 230lbs on my 5'8" frame. In October 2012 I completed my first 1/2 marathon and ate wholesome organic food, all while documenting my intake only to find myself at a 5 lb loss. It was discouraging to put in all that work and effort for months for 5 lbs. Surgery was not my first resort but after developing non-alcoholic fatty liver syndrome from the medication I have taken over 8 years and having tried every weight loss method under the sun ending at my 1 1/2 year sint at an all natural organic way of life, it is my last resort. I have read book after book on my condition, healthy eating and exercise. I realized it wasn't what I was doing but I didn't want to give up. So the lap band was my decision to give my body the assistance it needed to finally lose the weight it deserves. I know it sounds silly but I look forward to menstrating. I haven't had a period in forever and that can be frustrating when your trying to start a family. I am hoping through my normal due diligence, high hopes and willpower I will finally find my 145 frame again. I cannot wait for onederland. I wish you all the best in your weight loss journey. I know we will be able to help one another and guide each other through the thick and thin. I'll be seeing you on the flip side. -Jen
