Starting to Lean to the plication side lol any thoughts experiences? Higher weight loss? No restrictions on certain foods? No "getting stuck", fill follow up, or emergency unfills... What to do what to do??

Maybe I misread what you wrote? I believe all bands are sutured in place, the plication is the folding of your whole stomach beneath the band. It's folded then sutured. Kind of two procedures in one. I see some people have either or on this forum, and some have both. Because the plication is so new ( not many long term studies on it) I was just curious about others' experiences/ fears of the "unknown" lol

Can I ask a scary question? I was considering the plication as well. I understand its a fairly new procedure and so there are not many long term studies done. Have you heard of the unused portion of the stomach rotting over the years? What do the drs say about long term?

I know, it's unfortunates such a small amount of funds are allotted to wls here because I'm sure the cost of obesity related illnesses are way higher! Hope they catch up soon, in the meantime I don't want to see my "healthy life" pass me by:)

I have been researching this option or about a year. I am self pay from Canada. I prob could have gone through insurance but the wait list is unreal. My bmi is lower so I could have Been waiting for four years or more. Last year in our city of 1000000 insurance covered 50 surgeries:( after this last year of research, talking with my dr, and my surgeon, etc when I finally decided to book a date they had me in in a month! Getting it done by dr ortiz in Mexico:)

I don't know anything about your insurance, but I a fairly new too, getting banded dec/12. I am 33 with three young children and can't wait to be healthier for them and me! Good luck!

My surgery with dr ortiz is dec 3/12. I'm so excited! How was your experience if you don't mind me asking? I was totally hesitant at getting a surgery in Mexico too initially, but after tons of research like marketing dude I am confident with my decision. For me I felt as though I had to do the extra research for myself, to put myself at ease BECAUSe I wasn't haven't it done locally. So the initial thought of some may be that us Mexican Laplanders jump to a different country to have less than excellent care or Product for a cheaper price is false:) not that anyone said that, but that was my initial assumption way back when too before I did the work finding out otherwise:)

Just wondering... When do you get your first fill? Does the surgeon tell you when or is there a specific amount I weeks after surgery?
