Starting To Have Second Thoughts
I started the process in July 10, 2012 and was banded October 10, 2012. I went in with a starting weight of 280 lbs and was told that I would be able to lose over 100 lbs sucessfully. It depends on how well you lose the band. Again there have been people on this forum that have lost HUNDREDS of pounds; so your doctor saying less than that is giving you the worst case senario. Since starting my pre-op diet until today, I have lost over 30 lbs. I can also admit that I was starting to have second thoughts before the surgery; and it was based on the fear of never eating Pasta and things like that again. However, as I continued to think about it, I thought to myself, "Is my health and future pregnancies really worth less than bread and pasta?!?!" I can even admit too that right as I was being brought into the recovery room I thought to myself, "WHAT HAVE I DONE!??!" (I think that was the pain meds and all the other meds though). I have been banded for about 2 weeks and could not be happier! I know that I am going to be so much healither; and that is what matters the most. As for the scary divorce statistic; I don't believe that one bit. Maybe people think that if one spouse is overweight so is the other; and then the surgery would result in jealousy and conflct, but I don't think so. My husband is very lean and weighs about 147 lbs. (as you can see from my picture) and is so supportive of this process. As long as you love each other and support each other it won't be a problem. I think the myth that once people lose weight that they stray is also a bunch of crap. Yeah we gain more confidence but that does not mean we are going to do things that are dangerous to our relationships; but that does not go for everyone.

First Post Surgery Dr Appt?
Wow that seems late for a post-op appointment. Each surgeon does it different, but I would think if it is 2 weeks and mushy food is just starting that there would not be a fill that early.

First Post Surgery Dr Appt?
I have my post-op appointment at the end of the month and he is just going to look at my incisions. I think the first fill would not be until after we are into the solid stage. And keep in mind that some people do not even get fills sometimes. I feel the same way about knowing how it fits. Since we are still the liquid phase it will be hard to tell; if at all. I start mushies next week and cannot wait until I get that full feeling. As for the feeling queasy, I don't know much about that. I only felt queasy after I got up the first time at the hospital. Just take it slow and take LITTLE LITTLE LITTLE bites and sips. I don't think I went to anything that was not clear until about 4 days after surgery; I was allowed to but I was scared. Popsicles were, and still are, my friend.

Lapband Removal
Did you have it replaced since it was leaking?

Lapband Removal
Do you already have the band?

Celery
Not salad with lettuce. Tuna/Chicken salad from a can of either meat, fat free mayo, and some seasonings.

Celery
How are people with eating celery? I start mushies next week and like to add it in my tuna and chicken salads. The pieces would be very, very small as I would use my food processor to chop it.

Shirataki Noodles
Has anyone tried Shirataki Noodles. Pasta is the one thing that I think I am really going to miss if I cannot stomach it. I am only a week post-op so I obviously have not tried anything thicker than yogurt; so who knows, maybe I will be okay with pasta.

What Do You Mix Unjury Into?
As I type, I am having tomato Soup with unjury powder in it. I have also mixed it into yogurt too. One thing I like in the morning is a cup of milk, a container of yogurt, and a scoop of Unjury blended together. It's a nice smoothie! I am only a week post-op so I am still only on liquids (nothing thicker than yogurt).

Help With Mushies
So I have a week until mushies and am trying to get more ideas for foods. Is chilli okay if I make it pretty smooth? Since it got cold out here (I'm in Chicago) I have been craving chilli!!

1 Week Post-Op Today!
I too have lost 11 pounds since surgery. I couldn't believe it!! And the worrying about the blood clots; I know that feeling as well. On Saturday I noticed my left thigh was numb/tingling so I called my doctor. He told me to keep and eye on it, but thought it was a pinched nerve. Sunday the numb/tingling feeling was gone. Now it only bothers me when I'm laying down for bed. I get somewhat of a burning feeling; which is another symptom of a pinched nerve. I am thinking from the positions I've been in bed and when I was in the recliner right after surgery is what did it. Just gotta deal with it.

1 Week Post-Op Today!
Well it's been a week and I feel great. Lost a little too much weight this week but with all the meds I was not feeling like eating. I am slowly adding calories and protein back in and getting all my fluids. Still experiencing a little pain on my left side from the gas but it's bearable. The only other pain. I have is the large incision and port pain but I know that will go away. I am just so happy now!!

Adding Protein Back In...but Think I May Be Doing It Wrong.
Well I am day 3 post-op and I am slowly adding protein back into my diet. However I find that I am taking really small sips of everything and it takes me FOREVER to even get close to finishing something. Am I doing this wrong? I'm so confused.

Pain On Left Side
- Post-Op Pain
So I am day 1 post-op and am still super sore. The gas pain isn't too bad today but I continue to feel like I have done thousands of crunches. I think that the worst parts now are the dry mouth from the narcotics and getting up from laying or reclining. I am trying my best not to bend too much at the waist- Banded Today!! 10/10/12
Same here; but happy I did it now. I just want he gas pain to go away now.- Banded Today!! 10/10/12
The pills were okay. Don't think anything got stuck: and they would disintegrate if they did. I am feeling more pain now since I've been getting up and down but I'm assuming that's normal with the increased movement. Still hard to get up from reclining in the chair; but getting better.- Banded Today!! 10/10/12
Well it's all over!! Banded this morning and feeling okay. The most pain I'm having is the gas pain and some minor abdominal discomfort.I am able to get up and pee and get back down on my own; but slowly. Biggest thing I was nervous about was taking my night medications because my doctor told me they were small enough to not crush; but I trust him. Now to continue burping to help with the gas and stay hydrated!! - Post-Op Pain
