Ok, My coworker had the gastric bypass 5yrs ago, and I mentioned that I was having the band next week. He said NOOO don't do that, I know 2 people that failed. I'm sooooo tired of people and their opinion on the lapband. I was skeptical at first but I plan on following all instructions provided by my dr. I've educated myself on ALL the complications that MAY happen.BUT I'm going into this with a positive mindset. I just wanted to vent!! Thanks for listening lol

Believe me I understand, my mom bought long johns silver last night and I had to lock myself in my room. I'm on preop diet day 7. Its gotten easier but I'm getting BORED with my food selection

YES, I know!! its gotten way better for me, I look at normal food like (no thank you) the desire is GONE and I'm so excited. We can do it. Keep up the good work

On day 5 of my preop diet, I'm feeling sooooo much better!! I feel like I'm getting use to this a little bit to much.LOL Today so far I've had ... Breakfast-Protien Shake w/ yogurt Lunch-Salad with ff ranch Mid day snack-Applesause Dinner(will be)-Soup and LOTS of water!! How is everyone doing on their preop diets?

Hey everyone.. Surgery date is the 23rd I'm on my preop diet... DAY 3 My headaches are getting better and the diet is going fine (YES,day 1 was a day from HELL)... I just wish the 23rd would come!!! I'm not to nervous, I've had several other surgeries before (2 csections,knee, and arm) I'm just ANXIOUS and ready Feel free to add me and chat me ttyl

Thank you everyone, I will add once I get to a work (using my phone).. My surgery is the 23rd, taking one day at a time. Today was the first day I could cook without wanting to eat. So I think I'll be fine.

Day 3 and I'm feeling better!! The first day was HELL. I had Breakfast with my children this morning, they had omelettes and I had 1/2cup oatmeal and splenda. It didn't bother me and I was so happy about that. I feel like I have no support though, my girls are too young to understand. If anyone is willing to chat every once in a while I would greatly appreciate it. I love this site and trust your opinions (well some) Thanks in advance

Thank you for responding. I wasn't "As" nervous when I was preparing for the sleeve. My surgeon said it has a greater percent of success but its hella costly. I don't know what I'm going to do. I read the forum all day like I'm studying for a test. My preop class is the 7th I have to sign on the dotted line that day and pay my deductible so I'll make up my mind soon.

Hello all. I'm fairly new. I go from the vsg to the lapband forum all the time. I found out my employer doesn't cover the vsg so my only choice is the lapband. I have been researching so much that I'm terrified of the outcome. I just need a little help with losing weight but if help is going to hurt me I don't want it!! My surgery(lapband) is scheduled next month. Should I stop looking?? I'm scared out my mind!! And I surely don't want to waste $2500 to do this if its not going to work. My friend had it and she's fine. I just don't want to be one of those BAD patients where everything fails!!

Thanks so much for response. My surgeon is in their network. Is that code for the actual procedure or just for the billing part?

On Nov 27th I completed all of my requirements for my insurance bcbs Anthem On Dec 5 my information was submitted. My concern is not whether it'll be approved but if my employer covers it. I checked all over Anthem's website and I couldn't find any detail on my employers coverage. The actual plan DOES cover the surgery. I called anthem back in September when I was thinking about getting the lapband, and asked if they covered the lapband. The rep said they covered the lapband only. I spoke with the insurance guy at my surgeon office about this and I guess he had the plans details, he said the sleeve was covered. I asked specifically about MY employer, he said yes. So on Monday I will be calling Anthem again. I'm so WORRIED, I've done everything and got my tentative surgery date. I really don't want to get my hopes up only for them to be torn down. If you all only had the choice of going with lapband, what would you do??
