Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?
They are there to see if you have food addictions and if you do, to help you before and after you have surgery. When I had my eval, there were a lot of questions about depression, alcohol abuse, drug abuse (which all tend to be associated with addictive personality). I think if they find you have an addiction, they want to be able to help you not to fail if you have the surgery. And to make sure you are capable of making that type of decision. I have also heard from multiple people including one of the NPs at Buffalo General that after you have surgery if you have a food addiction, people tend to "shift" their addictions to something new, whether it be alcohol, drugs, etc. I agree though, it would be nice to have a psychologist that has some personal experience with the situation. I went to Colleen Edwards in Elma, Ny. I have a history of depression and drug abuse when I was younger, she recommended counseling, but she said that she recommends counseling to everyone. I don't know what kinds of insurance she takes, but I have united healthcare.

56 lbs down!
Don't be depressed! You've lost more than I have! I've only lost 32 since surgery, but was told that I would lose slower because I didn't have a lot to lose. I lost 24 before surgery. 34-35 lbs is awesome. I always try to think about it as when would you have ever lost that much in such a small amount of time without surgery? You've lost that much in less than 2 months, that's pretty awesome!!

Hey, No Fair!
I didn't have one either, all depends on the surgeon.

Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?
Hi, yes I had him. He is very nice and thorough. He explained everything, allowed me to ask questions and was really great pre and post op. After surgery he tells you to call his office day or night if you have questions or concerns and calls back no matter what day or time. You don't see him until you are okayed for surgery but the NPs are great. I like Susan Tobias the most. All of the staff there have been really great.

- Did u have a jp drain?
I didn't have one and was told that my surgeon doesn't use one unless absolutely necessary. You should talk to your dr about whether he usually puts them in or not.- June surgery dates

Hw: 214 Sw: 188 Cw: 169 I am only 5'0".- JUNE 2013 Sleevers?
Was sleeved on June 26th. I didn't have to do a preop diet other than the south beach diet phase one for 1 week before surgery. Was 188 day of surgery and today I am down to 171. I am only 5'0 and when i started this journey in April I was 212 lbs. I have been having trouble getting all my protein in too. I can't drink the protein shakes anymore. They make me nauseas. I try to have foods high in protein for all of my meals and drink milk. I have my 1 month follow up on monday and will ask about protein then. According to the meal plan they gave me, they want me to drink a protein supplement until 4 months, I really don't see that happening if I can't tolerate them now!- Restless legs after surgery?
Has anyone had a problem with restless legs after surgery? I had surgery on June 26 and the last few days I have had the most horrible restless legs especially at night when I am trying to go to sleep. I have never had a problem with this before. Any insight into what could be causing this would be great! Thanks.- June surgery dates
How much powder do you put into the pudding? How much pudding do you eat a day? Thanks! I am having trouble getting my protein in too, the shakes are horrible. They were ok the first two weeks but I am so over them. I didn't have to do a preop protein shake diet but I can't imagine having had to do that then afterwards too! I orders some Nectar and I'm gonna try that and hope I like it!- June surgery dates
Had surgery on the 26th and I am returning to work on Wednesday. I just sit at a desk all day, but I am nervous about going back and eating and drinking etc, I guess. I think I could have used an extra week but didn't want to use all my leave. I haven't even been at my current job a year yet, I will b on July 29th.- Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?
That's a good idea, thanks. I have Popsicles and jello. Started eating strained puréed this week and its nice to add a few things and have noticed feeling hungry a few times now. I just got a new strawberry Protein powder drink because I was getting sick of the chocolate.- Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?
I am doing well! Have lost 9 lbs since surgery. Having a little trouble getting my fluids in because I get full so quickly. I have to go back to work on Wednesday, so that will be interesting getting back into the groove of things!- Just annoyed
Thank you do much everyone. I really needed that pep talk. We woke up this morning and he's pretty much acting like we didn't have a fight last night. I guess we will see how it goes. I am still very tender and tired. I haven't been whining that much, when I brought up sex, I just told him I had major surgery a week ago and that is when he brought up the fact that its been a week and that I am really starting to "stretch" that excuse out and then "reminded" me that it was my choice to have this elective surgery like I should be in any less pain because it was my choice! I yelled at him and told him I didn't want to hear him say that again because he really sounded like an a*****e. Thanks again- Just annoyed
I'm sorry, but I just need to vent. My husband has been really supportive the last few months through the whole process and I am so grateful for that. I had my surgery on 6/26 and it has been a week and he has been very helpful up until this point. But now he has been asking me when we can have sex. I didn't have the greatest sex drive before surgery, but I really don't feel like I am ready yet and I'm really not in the mood at all. Now he's complaining about me being grouchy, which pretty much I am because of him! He just doesn't get it. Today he told me that I should stop with the whining that my surgery was a week ago and apparently I should be completely recovered by now. He also pretty much told me that this was an elective procedure and I did this to myself. I am just so annoyed right now! Sorry for all the TMI. - Did u have a jp drain?
