  1. I was banded August 18th. I am now on mushies and have been having on and off days. Today I ate a ton of mushies without restriction in the evening. I know I need to get back on track, but I just need to hear from others. Did you experience this? Does it get better on solids and after first fill? I am getting down on myself for not being stronger. Do the mushies just go right down like liquid?
  2. Thank you everyone. I liked feeling muscles a little sore today.
  3. Thank you everyone. I liked feeling muscles a little sore today.
  4. Thank you everyone for your advice! Today went so good! I had under 1100 calories and ate half cup about every two hours. Feel so much better than yesterday
  5. Also.. i wrote the calories on every portion and journaled it in a notebook. Made it easy to monitor what I was doing.
  6. I was starting to fall off track too and went out yesterday and bought half cup portions for my food. I am on mushies and put it all in the containers. Today at work i made sure to eat only every two hours or so, half cup portion every time- and I stayed under 1100 calories. Yesterday I was feeling horrible about myself but today i started fresh and feel proud again. I still thought about food a lot but two hours was not that long so I could wait and drink water. It is never too late to start again. You can do it!
  7. I did the elliptical today and thought everything was fine until my friend told me after it is too early for me to be doing that. It seems just like walking to me. Opinions?
  8. Hi all- I am three weeks post op and notice I need to start setting a portion for my own sake. I have now portioned out foods in half cup containers. How much and how often did everyone eat after surgery and before first fill? I am 212 and have lost 12 pounds since surgery. I just started mushies and do not want to get mixed up. Protein drinks were so easy! Now I need to really think about portions and calories. I love that I am already looking at food labels to be more conscious of what I am taking in, but i am unsure of the amount I should be aiming for.
  9. Hi all. I am still on the liquid diet. Less than two weeks post op. I have had a bad taste in my mouth that I worry is causing me to have bad breath. Did anyone else have this and does it go away?
  10. I regretted it until day 10 post op. I felt like I had ruined my life. Ha ha. I am a drama mama sometimes. Glad you are doing well and stay positive! We are going to be healthy! Yay!
  11. This is an inspirational thread. Thank you so much. I was banded August 18th and it is funny how I already obsess over not losing enough weight. I have lost ten pounds and logically know that is good considering i am still healing. I think i forget I couldn't lose a pound before. Ha ha. I will keep at it and stay positive!
  12. Ok- so I am 10 days post op and I finally got my color back and feel better. I was really worried because I usually bounce right back from things, but not this surgery. I am feeling hopeful now and my energy has returned. Still on liquid diet and doing great! I kind of like this muscle milk. Ha ha! Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support!
  13. Hello all. I am still doing my two week post op liquid diet and I read some people say they gained weight after getting back on solid foods. Is this a common thing? I have lost ten pounds and am so scared to gain it back once off liquids. Have some people just kept losing during the transition?
  14. Congratulations! Mine was quick too but good thing or I would have chickened out. I bought a book about lap band successes to keep me in the right frame of mind while healing. Good luck!
  15. Hello- now I am eight days post op and feel horribly tired. I am very pasty looking. Getting a little afraid I will be tired like this forever. How is everyone doing now?
  16. Also, you can get a lot of veggies by juicing them. I juiced once and felt so good it was amazing. It was before i got banded though so my hunger got the best of me. I will check out that book. Sounds like how i want to start living.
  17. I woke up and said "I need to walk," over and over. Finally a male nurse told me I need to take it easy for a while because of the anesthesia. That's when I started my leg exercises in the bed. Ha ha. I had read so much about blood clots and the importance of walking that it was drilled into my head.
  18. It would be frustrating to wait so long. I was self pay too but I opted to go to Dr. Almanza in Mexico. I was very scared and many people did not want me going to Mexico, but now that it is done I am so grateful I did it. The experience was good and everything was clean and professional. Maybe reconsider going to Mexico if you want to get done sooner. I hope everything works out for you.
  19. I know eight weeks is two months, but one person said i could have it done at six weeks and one said eight weeks. I would prefee to go at six weeks but the fill center will not do it until eight weeks. I was just trying to find out if that was common. Thank you!
  20. Hey all- my surgeon said people get filled after 6-8 weeks but when I called the fill center to schedule a fill, they said they do it after two months. That seems like a long time.
  21. This is so inspirational! I just got banded August 18th and cannot wait until I am excited to shop again. I have been wearing the same pair of jeans for a long time and I online order now because I hate shopping and my size is not usually in stores. After reading this I remembered there was a time I liked shopping for clothes.. When I was thinner! Thank you for sharing and I cannot wait to be where you are. So far the liquid diet has been difficult but I am staying strong.
  22. It's okay! Stick with it. Today is my day five and I think i just had my first stomach hunger since surgery and it is frustrating. The liquids are tough. Hey- it could have been worse. You just had mashed up avocado, not a cookie or anything, so don't beat yourself up!
  23. Thanks everyone! I will keep all this in mind. Maybe waiting a couple months until I heal completely would be best so I do not aggravate it. To be honest, I still have not been hungry but I have been daydreaming about my usual americano before work. I will give it a while but it makes me feel better knowing that even if I cut a lot of junk out of my diet, I can keep my morning coffee. And I love iced coffee too!
  24. What is everyone's understanding of coffee after surgery? I would like to have an espresso with a touch if skim milk, but not if it will cause issues. I am five days post op. Thank you!
