  1. I was banded on 8/14 and for the first 3-4 days I wasn't even hungry. I started getting hungry and by day 7 I attempted smooth foods and when I went in for my follow up I explained to the doctor that I had already started eating but was getting full after around 1/2 cup. He said that was perfect and I set an appt for 4 wks later for a fill if needed. Since coming home I can't seem to eat enough and dont feel any restriction in the band. I am so upset and disgusted with myself. I seem to be able to eat anything and everything without any problem. I haven't had carbonation or caffeine. I am doing pretty well with not eating and drinking at the same time.... I just need some feedback! I have been putting my intake into myfitnesspal and use TampaGina as my username. Please add me and if you have any suggestions let me know! Good luck everyone! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  2. I'm Day 9 and saw my Dr today who said that things were going perfect. I wasn't sure because he likes u to be on a liquid diet until Day 14 Post Op and I started eating some mushys a day ago. I was getting hungry and so tired of Protein shakes and sweets since starting them 16 days Pre-Op. He said if it feels okay to eat things than I can...just try getting lots of protein in first. Next appt for fill is in 4 wks if needed...I guess if I am only eating 1/2 cup to 1 cup and I am used to eating a FEW cups of food. I do get full after eating that amount - i just wonder if it should be harder for me to eat...ugh Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  3. Okay I haven't kept track...if anyone is on myfitnesspal I wld love to add friends to my list! I am TampaGina on there as well! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  4. Well I don't know how to feel today...I'm 7 days post op and have been so tired of shakes and liquids for the last 3 weeks that I needed food! Last night I got some egg drop soup and it was wonderful...today I have had refried beans from taco bell w onions, sour cream, beef, tomatoes n cheese...and then later had some KFC mashed potatoes n gravy. Everything went down well...I just don't know if I'm ruining everything or not...ugh! Help!
  5. okay, I just ate something really good and dont know if I am going to regret it or not! I had taco bell refried beans with sour cream and onion...then mixed the inside of a mexi melt in it (meat, tomatoes n cheese). It was so good and easy to eat that I am scared! 7 days post op...
  6. I am curious...your Dr used the phrase "you can have anything that you can sip through a straw," he told you not to actually use straws didnt he?
  7. I am 6 days post op and just had egg drop soup! It was fabulous so I hope it was okay! I really want some mashed potatoes n gravy!
  8. I am as well Pennie..I know that's the side where my port is...is that where yours is as well?
  9. I am having the exact pain 6 days post op...I also had a hernia repair as well. I hear that the surgery alone aggravates a specific nerve that is connected to the shoulder. I would imagine that it cld continue for awhile...but I hope not! I would check w your Dr because that nerve cld still be the issue. Good Luck!
  10. That's a good question! I am 6 days post op and just went to get my sons school supplies tonight. We were in Staples for an hour and I was miserable! All the signs point to me possibly being dehydrated...but I really felt like crap! I think it will be a little while before I do much more than walking...but I'm sure it just depends on the person. Good Luck!
  11. Congrats on doing so well! I think that we wld all be thrilled if a month after being banded...all our extra weight was gone I am 6 days post op and was frustrated when I got home from the hospital because I weighed more than when I went in! I am sure that iv fluids and gas had something to do with that! Good luck...you seem to be well on your journey!
  12. Model...I am just curious how the port came thru your skin...would you mind telling me?
  13. Oh I wld LOVE some egg drop soup! I'm 6 days post op and that sounds amazing! When do you all start your mushy stage and what are u going to eat for that? I'm not supposed to start that for another week! Ugh!
  14. I was banded on Aug 14th and I'm wondering if it's not really our bodies being hungry, but that our "eyes" our hungry! I think the first few days were very tough just because of what I knew that I cldnt have. I had lots of growing due to gas but I really haven't been hungry. I have, however, had cravings...for just about everything that I see or hear about! I started making lists of things that I can have on the other stages and trying to get psyched up for that. Most of us are dealing with a true addiction to food and I think our bodies are reacting to not having it. Just a thought! Good Luck
  15. Yay! Congrats! I am just 5 days post op and it's great to hear stories like this I think you totally deserve that jacket and MORE! I can't wait to WANT to buy clothes! Fun, cute clothes!
  16. I am 5 days post op and am having trouble getting all the protein in as well. I want real food! I am so sick of these protein shakes...I can't stand it! Gas pains and no weight loss yet . Just chewed some gas-x tablets and hoping that helps!
  17. What kind of Chili are you guys talking about? I am 5 days post op and can't eat mushy foods till day 14! I wld say to go ahead and add a lil sour cream and cheese...we can't have that much anyway! I am thinking of all kinds of beans...pinto, navy, black, baked...anything sounds good right now! Chicken blended with salsa sounds good...ugh! I am so sick of protein shakes!
  18. I am 5 days post op and my doctor found the hernia while he was doing the surgery and fixed it. I can't imagine that has to be run by insurance before hand, especially since...like in my case, we didn't even know about it! I, also, am not sure if the pain is coming from that or the port because all the discomfort seems to be in the same place. I have been taking 800mg of cimitidene for reflux/heartburn...I wonder if that is something I could stop taking now?
  19. I wish I cldve had meat! I do know that we could have raw veggies...I even used a lil dressing! Good luck!
  20. Yes you should be fine! I take depression/anxiety meds and I think many people do. I am only 4 days post op and am still taking my meds, but would love to stop at some point. They want to know if you are mentally prepared for the surgery...but I'm not sure that we ever completely are! We have become addicted to food and this process is going to take awhile! Good luck!
  21. Lol I love your post Lisa! "the most we could wait was 10 days!". Love it!
