  4. Hi everyone, Soooooo I FINALLY got a date to see the surgeon after three months of waiting. However now I am so nervous (guess I got so used to waiting and I did not really think the waiting would end lol). Not really sure what to say to him. Any ideas on questions guys?
  5. You have NO idea how relieved I am to see there are others going through the same as me. I have been eating terribly and I am now ready for the pre op diet to start but my hospital is sooooo slow in scheduling me to see the surgeon so I am just stuck. I do believe that we will all see this through to the end!! Come on surgery!

  8. I think there are other programs but they seem to be farther away than the program I am with now. I am going to ask again to get a concrete list of the hospitals that perform wls under my ins. Thanks for the tip! I wish u the best too:)
  9. Hi everyone, I expect this process to take a long time but I am just feeling a little hopeless. It has been almost 12 weeks since I turned in my application packet to the surgeon's office and attended the seminar and they STILL have not called me to even set up an appointment to see a surgeon. Everytime I call to inquire they just give me the same old line about how they are six to eight weeks behind and they only have five people to take care of pre op and post op patients. I wish there was somewhere else to go. I am not rushing them to perform surgery on me (ok maybe I am lol) but seriously I just want to meet the surgeon, get my questions answered and start the pre op diet so I can begin to get some of this weight off of me. I just feel so stuck and I know they are swamped, but I guess I am just anxious to see the scale go down. Sorry guys, I am just venting. Thanks for listening:) Did it take everyone else this long to see the surgeon?
  10. Yeah its sooooo hard to get a concrete answer. I just do not want to submit to ins. and be denied because I didnt have the 6 mos diet/weigh ins.
  11. Hello everyone, I was wondering if any of you have United Healthcare and your Medical Group is Affinity Eden San Leandro? I am trying to figure out if I have to do a six month diet/weigh ins with my pcp? I have tried calling the medical group and asking them if its a requirement and I cannot get a straight answer. I have also called the UHC number on the back of my card and some of the reps are saying that it used to be a requirement and now its not and other reps are telling me to ask my medical group. I am soooooooo confused. Hoping someone has been approves through Affinity Eden. Sorry this is so long:)
  12. Yeah!! Forget your doctor's office. You have to take care of you and that is all that matters. Congrats on the approval:)
  13. Hey everyone! I have a question, specifically those of you who havr UHC. Does insurance require 6 mos of consecutive weigh ins with ur pcp? I am wondering because I was told by my psychologist at my consult that you need to have six months worth of weigh ins in order to be approved. I am really confused.
  14. Hey guys, Hope all is well with everyone. A few weeks ago I attended the intro seminar at Alta Bates Summit Medical in Oakland,Ca and was told it would be 6-8 weeks just to see the surgeon. I was wondering is there anyone on this board who has dealt with Alta Bates Summit Medical for Bariatric Surgery? I am not sure if I should try and find a new program or just stick it out to see the surgeon? I understand that it is about a 2-4 month process from first appt to surgery and I am cool with that but an extra two months on top of that JUST to see the surgeon and confirm all my requirements. I guess I am becoming a little restless, I just want to be sure of everything I have to do and whether or not I am a candidate and two months seems like a long time to wait for that. I do not know, maybe I just need to relax. What do you guys think? BTW, Alta Bates Summit Medical is not a Center of Excellence.
