    Negative reactions to getting plastics.

Depending on what you have done you will need stronger pain meds than Tylenol. I cannot take opioids for more than a day or two. I hate the feeling and it makes me itch constantly. Any muscle work will be more painful than just skin work. Do not let this deter you. Speak to a good surgeon. He will give you options.

    Negative reactions to getting plastics.

I am 58 and about to go for my last surgery. I am 9 years out of my lap band surgery and on my best day I am down almost 70 lbs. I’ve had it all done, breast lift with aug, tummy tuck, and a revision, lower body lift, and many rounds of Lipo. I started with plastic work around 2 years after surgery. I say wait a little while and get close to your goal weight. This is a personal decision. Do not listen to others that have not had the experience. No one else sees or feels the way you do when you look in the mirror. You lose weight and see all the imperfections and want to correct them. Nothing wrong with that. The pain is tolerable and well worth the result. Interview many Doctors and do your research. Find one that you are comfortable with and drag your hubs there to listen and see. He will change his mind. My parents weren’t on board but could see how much happier I was with myself. In the long run, we are all pleased. Good luck.

    abdominoplasty after lapband

Hello!! i am 6 years out from my lap band and had a tt about 2 years after. There were no issues working around the port or tubing. The ONLY issue is that I can see the port through my shirt. No one else seems to notice but my flat stomach and abs (I workout a lot) make the port stick out slightly. A good surgeon has probably worked on bariatric patients in the past and can work around. Next month I am having my final surgery. Lower body lift. I’ve had boobs, tt, a lot of lipo and now this. All worth it of course. Let me know if I can help further. Congrats on your success.
  5. I love my band. It keeps me in check. If I do something I am not supposed to, like eating too fast, too much, not chewing enough, bread or rice, I get a quick reminder as I run to the bathroom to throw up. I am 6 years out. Kept the weight off because to me it’s about portions and saying no to a couple of foods that I def can’t eat. I eat pretty much whatever I want but very little of it. That’s been fine for me. I also work out quite bit so those occasional “slider” foods are a non-issue. I realize that this is not the gold standard for weight loss surgery but it works well for me so far. Wouldn’t trade.

    Emergency LAP-BAND Surgery tonight

For those that have had the lap band and had it removed and got the sleeve or gastric bypass..... how is it working out? How different was it from the band in terms of your eating and when you know you’re full?
  7. I disagree. I am 5 years out this month. I love my band. It keeps me in check. Most people that don’t like the band is because they don’t follow the rules. Of course there are medical issues that occur and it needs to be removed. I started at 225 and now I am down to 167. I am now a size 8-10. Kept it off for 5 years. I work out a lot and when I eat foods that I shouldn’t or too much food I pay the price. It reminds me NOT to do it again. It’s not a magic pill. It’s just a tool but you have to be nice to it.

    Acid at night

Wow. Sounds like the story of my life! Banded 3.5 years ago. Lost 60+ lbs. Had the gagging and vomiting in my mouth, coming out my nose issue every night for weeks. The coughing and gagging was constant even with the Prevacid and sleeping upright. I did anything to prevent me from calling for an unfill. Nothing worked and I had to call for the dreaded apt. The dr took out .2cc. I haven't had a problem since. I also have gained 10 lbs back. I am so fearful that I will gain it all back. Started working out with a trainer 2x per week and trying to fit in some cardio in between. My eating hasn't changed that much. Maybe I am fooling myself. I can get more down but certainly can't finish a full meal. Can anyone give me some guidance with this? I've had my tummy tuck and other plastic procedures done because I thought I was at my best. Now I see more of me than I would like to. HELP!!!!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Scars!

Try silicone scar strips. They have them at Walgreens and Amazon. Great reviews on Amazon. I am using them now for my breast lift and aug scars.
  11. I am 1.5 years out. Down 65 lbs am at goal. Last fill was in May. Everything was going fine until about a week ago. I started throwing everything up. Had the most horrid reflux all night with regurgitating and coughing. I called the doctor that of course,on vacation so another dr took out 2.5cc. Feel much better, no reflux, coughing or regurgitation. Also have NO restriction. It's such a weird feeling. I am seeing my dr on Tuesday. I am hoping to have a fill. I don't want to gain! Anyone else ever have this happen?
  12. Sports Beas from Walmart are great. Danskin front closure, no wire, couple of sizes bigger than you are. $7 each. Can't beat it.

    Itchy

Hi All I am almost 7 weeks out from BA, BL, and lipo of stomach, hips and flanks. I am incredibly itchy where my lipo was done. Still numb in spots but can't stop scratching. Anyone else have this problem?
  15. Hey everybody, been a long time since I have posted anything. I am 51 years old and 16 months out from my lap band surgery. I am at the Dr.'s goal, but not my personal goal. I started at 223 lbs. I am 5'6". I am down to 157 and would like to lose another 7-10. I currently wear a size 8 or 10. A size I never thought I would see again. I am very pleased with my lap band and have never regretted it for one second. Last Thursday, I had a Breast Lift, Augmentation, Fat Transfer, and Liposuction of the stomach, hips, flanks, and back. The 66 lb weight loss left me with sagging boobs, and a muffin top. Not the look I was going to be happy with. I found a wonderful plastic surgeon in Boca Raton, Florida. The whole experience has been wonderful. Right now I look like a freak, wearing a compression girdle, and a not so sexy bra. I am bruised and battered. I gained 12 lbs of Fluid during the surgery but am down 5 today. I am still very bloated and I can see the pockets of Water under my skin. The pain has been moderate, but manageable. You have no idea how much you use your pectoral muscles! I am thankful that I did not have the tummy tuck. I really needed my abdominal muscles to lift myself up out of bed and to use the bathroom. I had a nurse stay with me the first 24 hours which was a really really smart idea. I may end up with a tummy tuck eventually but decided on the least invasive procedure, hoping that there is still some elasticity left in my skin. Today is my second follow up apt. Hopefully they will take off the tape that seems to be annoying me and perhaps the green light to go ahead and get another type of compression garment. I will post some before and after pictures when I get back from my apt today. They aren't too pretty, but I do see a light!
  16. Hi there. I had 2 liters taken off. But some of that was transfered to my beasts. I am still in the girdle and can see a difference but have a ton of swelling. I have a lot of pictures. I take them daily. I will post once most of swelling is gone. Feel free to pm me with any questions! Good luck!!!
  17. Hi- Nothing was paid by insurance. $18K for lapband, $13,500 for plastic work. I have a wonderful husband!

From the album: 60 Lbs down!

My one year banderversary. So pleased with my results. Down 60 lbs. Hope to get another 10 off before my breast lift/augmentation and lipo of my stomach and flanks to get rid of the muffin top. It's been a great ride and I couldn't be happier.
  20. I was banded 2/20/2013, I am 15 lbs from goal weight. I was wondering what everyone experiences when they are "done" eating and if my experience is typical. First thing that happens is that my nose runs, then I start hiccupping. If I take another bite, then I have pain and I have to stop. Period. Sometimes I can wait, and the food finally goes down, if not, I am running to the bathroom to throw up. It comes up pretty much as it went down. dinner is over. There are some days everything goes down fine. There will be a day or two in a row that nothing seems to be going down except liquid. I get worried that maybe my band has slipped. The next day everything is back to normal again. Anyone else experience this? Thanks for your input.

    Gain/lose

Over the last month, I have gained and lost the same 3lbs. Banded 2/20/2012, down 50 lbs, 25 to go. I got a fill 3 weeks ago, I am eating the same really no change. Should I get another fill? Anyone else have this problem?

    First PB

Had my first PB the other day. Wow. What a feeling. I was banded 2/20/2013. I am down 37 lbs and have had two fills. First fill was ok, noticed that I could not eat as much food and had some restriction. Had second fill 4 weeks later and what a difference. Lots of restriction and toddler size portions. Saturday I wolfed down carrots and hummus. Big mistake. I thought I chewed enough but I think I ate it too fast. For about 20 minutes I couldn't stop spitting. Such a weird feeling. I sat down and with no warning other than the slime, water and chewed up carrots shot out of my mouth like a cannon. I am so glad this took place in my bedroom and in private. I can't imagine being out and this happening. Seems like now I feel less restriction then before. I am told that a fill can make you really swollen, so perhaps the swelling has gone down now? Second fill was two weeks ago. So maybe just a coincidence? Next fill is in four weeks. I've lost about 8lbs since my second fill. I have to say that I couldn't be happier with my band. So glad that I had it done. I am half way to my goal weight of 150.
