  1. I was banded on monday July 9th I have dropped a few pounds scince then but it is still early. I already notice how I get out of bed in the morning and my feet and legs don't ache just walking to the bathroom. My wife says she swears she already sees adiffrence in me but I told her it was time for her eye exam ( ya know we aint gettin any younger) but really she has been the greatest in all of this. the hospital I had mine done at was two hours away and she stayed with me till securtiy threw her out around 10. she just went down to the parking lot and slept in the truck till 5 am when she reappeared in my door way like the angel I knew her to be. you see this was my first time in a hospital overnight (other than my birth... don't remember much about that one) lol, and I did not want to be left alone.
  2. Anyone have any idea were i could gat a battery operated BLENDER from ?? or a small travel one. Cabelas.com sells a gas powered one.

  6. I am due to be banded on July 9th I can't figure out what to expect as far as weight loss goes. I read these boards and see rapid loss my Doc says 1 to 2 lbs aweek is good one person up here lost 90lbs in 90 days. some up here have taken almost a year to drop 45 lbs I understand ANY loss sustained for a period of time is a triump and I am not knocking anybody I just don't know what to expect ya know. what is average? yeah yeah I know.... individual results may vary:D:D how many times have we heard that one

    I am going to Dr. Noyan just south of trenton takes about an hour to get there but he was the only one that takes my ins. without leaving the state. After my first visit I was really at ease with him. I am sure he did not intend on spending an hour talking to just me:eek: but he did. Sorry if anybody here was sitting in the waiting room that day :nervous here is the link to his info if you want it the page needs to be updated badly but the contact info is right Just not the numbers of surgeries Bariatric Surgeon Profile - Earl Noyan, MD Good Luck if you have any questions you can PM me if you want
  8. I have heard great things about Dr. Patel but my ins. he takes my ins. but the hospital he works in does not. go figure ? I also am in Vineland Dr. Noyan is a real hike but given everything I have done in the past to lose weight it si a small price to pay Congrats Chickatee!!
  9. I haven't been banded yet (july 9th) but the process has already changed so much of my life it is almost unbelievable. I lost my dad when he was just 64 due to wieght related illnesses. I am now heading down a road that will allow me to watch my children grow and enjoy my grand kids to be able to take them to the beach and actually enjoy it instead of wearing a tank top all day wondering who's pointing at the fat guy this time. to walk into a room and not sit down because I don't want the chair to break on me (never had it happen but only because I watch out for it) . to walk down the boardwalk with my wife and not be the embarrassment I think I am to her now. goodness I can't wait !!! PS. who needs therapy when you have a great forum like this one.:biggrin1:
  10. I hope they don't do much pre op blood work but If they do a pre op preg test on me I hope the results come back negative....
  11. Thanks to this board I went to my first doctors visit with as much info as he was expecting to give me then I started asking questions and he was wondering who I'd been talking to. It was amazing being that informed beforehand. they say knowledge is power and this board has really empowered me.
  12. Move ON .... sorry if that sounds rough or rude. but it would be like being a recovering alcoholic and your friend getting mad because you would not have a drink to celebrate his birthday. maybe youcould try to explain it in a way he/she would understand but I'm betting you have already tried that. Good Luck with what ever you decide
  13. CONGRATS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:
  14. Are you or your husband bigger? are you banded ? just asking because that may play into the way she views things also
  15. My son is also heavy he just turned 16 aswell. He asked me if he could get the band also I asked him to work with me after I get the band and see what happens. He is not very active but last summer during marching band camp (don't laugh he really went to band camp) he lost about 30lbs just doing the excersing that the marching was doing. so there might be a chance for him with out the surgery but if it doesn't work I would support his decision to get the band I know what high school is like when your FAT... it sure aint the stuff you see on TV The shows like the OC or dawsons creek are as much fantasy land as the lord of the rings but main stream america doesn't want to believe that.
