  1. Mis 73, that's amazing!!! What type of food and how many calories daily?
  2. Congrats on being banded! I was banded July 12. For about 3 weeks I had a swollen hard lump where port is. That has since gone down. If pain persists and swelling isn't reduced just call your doctor. I did because I thought swelling and bruising weren't supposed to happen, but doctor said it was normal. Good luck!
  3. Thanks everyone. I'm so scared to fail at this last ditch weight loss effort and I have lost 6 lbs since i was banded 3 weeks ago. I guess I expected to lose more. Per dr I am following south beach diet. I feel loss in inches
  4. I aM super worried that I can eat and I find I have to stop myself because I'm not as full as before....why?????
  5. I'm hypothyroid and since July 4 preop diethave lost 17 but since surgery July 12 have lost an additional 4. It is not as quick as I thought but I feel good and am committed. I seem to have lost more inches. I'd like to know from Jen what type of diet she follows and how many calories she is eating. My doctor suggested the south beach diet once I can eat soft ground food which will be this Thursday. Any suggestions everyone....by the way I'm happy for us all as we are on the way to improved health.
  6. Congratulations....you look amazing....you have inspired me!
  7. Thanks everyone for the ideas. I also want to know how many of these to drink, or what amount per day. I am one week post op. thanks again.
  8. I think it's only natural to feel this way. Awareness of yourself is very important. You have done an amazing job in 9 weeks by losing 47 lbs. I think I feel the exact same way because deciding to get the lap band was such a big decision to make that I'm very concerned with success because I felt like this was the last option I had. I too find myself being over cautious about what I consume, and I'm only one week post op, but mostly it's because I want to succeed. Don't become overly worried about this, be aware of yourself, and continue on your journey. Thanks for sharing.
  9. OMg....this morning I had whey protein, brand pure protein/vanilla creme, and was not thrilled...I didn't iuse a blender I mixed it with a spoon and it was clumpy and not very good....any suggestions on best way to drink this, recipes, or even a better tastin brand or do they all taste same? I want to give it another try but am scare it will give me a feeling of vomiting just like today......please send ideas. Thanks.
  10. Tricia, I am also post op one week and feeling like I can't have one more protein shake. I also have swelling and bruising but am doing much better. Today I made a. Thinned out split pea soup with milk to give it protein and to surprise my taste buds. It was all liquid and had about two ounces but it did the trick. It's very hard to deal with the desire to eat and we are physically not able to. I know it will get better for us....hang in there. I wish you continued success.
  11. Congratulations to you!!
  12. Thanks for the input everyone. Good luck all on the new journey. :-)
  13. I am post op six days and have a great deal of bruising around port. My doctor said its normal but I wanted to know if anyone went thru this and how long did it last? Also, I am swollen quite a bit, how long does this last? Other than that I feel great going for my first outside walk today. Any advice on eating at this stage is also welcome. Thank you.
