  1. this is my last weekend before surgery My birthday is tomorrow and we're gonna have what you call a last meal, gonna eat some red lobster. I had my last appt yesterday and they said I can only have clear liquids on Sunday and Monday and nothing to drink after midnight. Also the day before surgery I have to drink a big bottle or magnesium and it's gonna make me shat my brains out lol. My surgeon doesn't require a 2 week pre-op diet and everyone at the support group meeting had a last meal, so I'm just gonna keep the tradition going. The magnesium is lemon flavored so I'm praying that it doesn't taste that bad but the bottle is pretty big :/
  2. I went cold turkey several times with coffee for different reasons. I prefer cold turkey because I'm a go big or go home kinda girl lol. The headaches weren't that bad and I couldn't find the advil so I just laid on the couch and covered my eyes. I was very sluggish and tired for about 9-10 days and I miss the taste so much. I do tend to have more energy without coffee but the taste is so addicting :/ I'm over the caffeine withdrawal thank goodness and I was only drinking 1 cup (about 1 tbsp coffee) a day. Good Luck
  3. I asked my surgeons PA about what size bougie they use and she said a 32. ETA:I asked my surgeon after surgery what size he used and he said a 36.
  4. Did you mean the movie "shallow Hal"? I've seen both of those movies a couple of times. OP I'm barely squeezing into regular size chairs that have arms. I'm geting surgery Tuesday and I'm looking forward to sitting comfortably.
  5. If my surgeon does the 5 incisions more than likely I will have a drain but if he does the single incision he wont put in a drain. I'm getting the single incision so I wont have a drain.
  6. My pre-admission appt is tomorrow and I can't wait to ask the surgeon tons of questions that I've been thinking about for the last month. I haven't talked to my surgeon since he gave me my surgery date. I have 2 school age kids and a 12 month old and I didn't want them to wait in the waiting room while I'm in surgery. I'd much rather have them visit me after I've rested and start feeling better. I'm gonna talk to the surgeon about that tomorrow. Good Luck everyone
  7. I didn't have to get weighed during the psych evals but I did get weighed at all my NUT and surgery appts.
  8. I hate work place gossip and it makes me so happy that I'm a stay at home mom. I have no idea how you manage to deal with them but good for you on keeping your head up and being above the chatter bugs. I'm sure they're all nervous at the thought of you being smaller than them at some point. Keep your head up and you will be fine
  9. My surgeon only requires 2 days of clear liquids the day before surgery. I start the clear liquid diet on sunday and I'm looking forward to surgery next week What does BAMC stand for?
  10. I'm getting sleeved next week and I'm very nervous but usually when I'm nervous or ready to freak out, I tend to get very quiet and do my deep breathing exercises. I used to listen to relaxation CDs when I would have anxiety before bed and it really helps me clear my mind and stay calm. I also did hypnosis with the home birth of my 3rd child and it really conditioned me to stay calm and relax. I haven't had a anxiety attack since learning these techniques. I'm more worried about the breathing tube more than anything because anything that could possibly irritate my throat and make it swell tends make me want to freak out. I know I will be fine though
  11. I can't believe next week I will be having my surgery. I meet with my surgeon and anesthesiologist on Thursday. I start my 2 day clear liquid diet on Sunday. So happy that it's almost time.
  12. I do worry about failing especially since I've failed at every diet in the past. My surgery is in a few days and I'm extremely nervous but this is something that I have to do for me in order to get my weight under control.
  13. My situation is the opposite of yours. My sister has given me nothing but hell since she found out that I was having surgery. My husband on the other hand has given me tons of support and has made sure that I was able to make all my appts. My mom gave me her 2 cents about the surgery and seemed supportive at first but now all she's really managed is to stir up more drama. In order for me to stay in my positive mindset I realized that I can't deal with the negativity, so I've distanced myself for the time being. I feel like since I'm the youngest child that they still view me as the baby *sigh*
  14. The binder that the surgeon gave me it said to avoid alcohol during the first 3 months after surgery but I'm gonna try my best not to drink alcohol the first year because I don't want it to slow my weight loss.
  15. Nope, I can't do it. My baby girl is almost 12 months old and I tasted her baby food and it was disgusting! As a matter of fact she doesn't even like it because of it's lack of flavor. She'd much rather eat the foods that I eat and I chop it up very small for her. Like others have said there are plenty of other options out there such as cream soups, blenders, etc.
  16. It depends. Some surgeons use 1 through the belly button and some use 5 incisions. I'm getting the single incision through the belly button, I think it's called SILS. Good Luck
  17. I have 3 kids, my son has autism, and my youngest will be 12 months old when I go in for surgery. I worry about the possibility of dying also but I have to do this for me. My kids deserve a healthy mom who has energy and wants to go out and do outdoor activities with them. I'm dreading the recovery but I know that this is something that I have to do for me.
  18. Wow I'm almost in single digit days! I'm so excited and ready to be on the losers side
  19. RJ-I'm sorry to hear that. I can't sleep when I'm hurngy and when my blood sugar is low I can't sleep until I eat something. I don't have a pre-op diet unless you count the 2 days of Clear liquids I have to do the day before surgery. I'm not looking forward to it but it's only 2 days for me. I'm glad that I don't have to drink Protein shakes because they make me constipate :/
  20. Looks like I'm the only Cuban lol My mom is Cuban and my dad is black. I'm really dreading not being able to eat spicy food and rice I heard the rice will expand in your stomach and spicy food may come out like flames lol I love adding serranos to everything and I probably will have to cut back on things that add heat for a while.
  21. The process has been about 7 weeks for me. Things tend to move very quickly on the Army base and they don't require a 6 month supervised diet. I haven't had a endoscopy or any xrays but I still have one last appt on the 27th and who knows what test they may run on me lol.
  22. for some reason I couldn't find this thread earlier, maybe my computer is screwing up lol Speaking of the belly button cleanliness, I have to admit that I sometimes forget to clean it. I will surely try to remember to do that when I'm in the shower because I do plan on having the one incision through my belly button. Oh I just now noticed why I wasn't able to find this thread, they moved it *slaps head*
  23. ^^^That's when my surgery is I'm also nervous but I know that this is my only way to get healthy because I've never been able to lose weight in the past no matter how much I try :/ I'm not looking forward to the recovery but if it's anything like childbirth I'm sure I will be fine
  24. I've been looking for the other thread but couldn't find it
