  1. I don't care if you drink til you turn blue honey. But you decided to drive under the effects. It's not the vsg police you need to worry about. The op here said her party is at home and I'm assuming she's intelligent enough to stay there or be driven home. I have zero tolerance for people who endanger the lives of others for a drink. Two cocktails in is not when you make the decision to "drive responsibly"
  2. Its too early for you to drink by any doctors standards.
  3. You must not have children. Life is full of opportunity for regrets. You do what you can to avoid them but only 20/20 hindsight leaves one without regrets. Regrets are the natural process of an intelligent person assessing the choices they have made in life and accepting the good decisions while acknowledging the bad. Just my take on it. So, glitter (love the name btw) Was that my post that scared you? I was low bmi, "no possible issues" "easy peasey" supposed to be up playing tennis with the doc next week . I won't type a diary because you can follow me in that other thread but I want to share my main regrets. I am likely to live but there were moments that was in question. Anyone saying "no regrets" has not been lucid while hearing doctors discussing how to keep you alive. I've been there twice. Eclampsia with my son and this surgery. The difference between the two is that I "had" to give birth, I did not "have" to have this surgery. My biggest regret at this point is when I did this. My son is six and has a feeding disorder and a blood disorder (boy in the bubble light) I have no health issues due to weight so I could have waited a few years. I went ahead because since his birth my life has been in turmoil. I lost seven other babies, had to give up a very satisfying career to care for him and had to move to another state to ensure he could have a normal life (shorter cold and flu season). This means my husband is away more than home...that's been a hard adjustment for us all. But this year things seemed to have calmed down to a close attempt at sanity and I said "it's me time, I'm doing this". Given all the assurances that this was no big deal I felt very little worry going into the procedure. You know the ultimate result. I posted my story because I hadn't seen one from a patient as healthy as me and I felt people need to be prepared for all scenarios. You need to really think....is this the time? I don't think I regret the surgery, I just wish I'd have waited until my son was your daughters age. He would still miss me but his more serious issues would be gone by then so it wouldn't be so hard for him. That's the biggest one. I hate being stuck up in room six and I desperately miss being a part of life, which I have always lived to the fullest no matter my weight. Add those thoughts to your process Hun and just really think this through until you are ready! Don't do it before then. Your head needs to be fully in the game.
  4. I have to ask a stupid question.... If your best friend died and of course you would never see them again...you would mourn them of course. The cheesesteak didn't did. Neither did the steak and crab. They just went on a little trip to Europe for some culture and will come back better than they were before. You can eat them, you just can't gorge on them. That cheesesteak is once a year...perfect cuz next year honey you won't take up so much space in line and you can share yours so you'll have money for some of those awful trinkets we all feel we NEED from state fairs (bull Mose horn towel rack anyone?). My docs approach is that nothing is off limits though nutrition comes first. Five meals of a cup each is quite a bit of food at one year out so why mourn. Give them a going away card and wait for their return where unlike now, you will be in controll of the welcome party, not the food
  5. Actually you said you had two which took two hours to drink which would still leave their effects in your system. Though you of course didn't know that because they were your first drink since being sleeved. Btw, bellinis are made from wine. At cheap drive through shops, very cheap wine (sparkling wine or champagne). At three weeks drinking carbonation is foolish at best, but when it comes to testing your ability, testing it with a liquor which goes to your head naturally faster than other types of wine compounds your mistakes. You can not request a lower alchaol Bellini. They are pure sparkling wine over a little fruit juice, typically peach. Saying you had a light Bellini is like saying you had a light martini. It's kinda like being sorta pregnant. When you attempt to argue your drink of choice my dear...know what the hell you are drinking. And yes to be clear I am judging you and it's coming out badly. You sound just like the gal who killed my friend. You aren't drinking responsibly. You're just lucky.
  6. I've said that...more than once and mostly to the same person. "can I have Mac and cheese two days out" "if I blend a pizza is that a liquid three days out" "I swallowed gum nine days out". I honestly think that this woman has psychological and emotional issues and I want her to get some help before she kills herself. She's been pushing death since day one. She needs help!
  7. I'm sorry but three weeks is rushing it by any doctors standards. In high school my friend and I were hit by a driver who felt they never drank more than they could handle to be able to drive responsibly. I was lucky to get tossed to the side. Bonnie died crushed between the car and a guard rail. It wasn't a quick death. The woman who killed her seemed quite lucid as she walked away from the accident. Justify it all you wish but next time do it with the image of a 16 year old girl begging for her parents and vomiting blood for ten mins before she finally died.
  8. Lozzad read my sleeve, story. We had the same issues. I'm home now but facing six weeks in bed. On day five they gave me Valium.....heaven....all spasms stopped! Insist on a muscle relaxant if you aren't on one. So OP you can probably guess that I too have regrets. I am in constant pain and can not take care of my child. I lay in a drug induced haze most of the time. I gained 20 lbs in surgery and haven't lost it a week out. I'm lucid when everyone is asleep. I've completely lost my life. food? Who cares! I just don't want to die.
  9. Wow some of you are drinking really early (and driving? Not the best way to see how they effect you!). I am a rather serious wine collector and would never have had the surgery if no wine was allowed again. I'd rather be fat . My doc insists two months off because even if you can't feel it, it can be irritating to your staple line. He suggests strong moderation until you have lost your weight because it is empty calories. And then champs only after six months in moderation because the carbonization isn't good for you. He also strongly advised me to practice in the safety of my own home to see how it effects me. And never never to drive right after a drink because it does absorb differently. If you are lucky you will only kill yourself that way. Unfortunately bystanders are normally the unlucky parties in that situation.
  10. Otr is as always quite right. Those proteins are a total waste of time. Call your nut for other suggestions.
  11. I was able to walk five times today and tried a chair but that didn't help. Dh is going to drag up a big rocker I have always been comfy in so I can try it tomorrow. Who knew...in a house full of beautiful Victorian furniture all I want is a lazy boy lol
  12. I'm sorry to be so blunt but you need counseling NOW. phone your doctors emergency number now as well and ask what he thinks.
  13. Ok, the long and short of it is that I have had substantial complications since surgery a week ago and I am only able to get out of my very comfy (ok it used to be) bed a couple of times daily. I sit, lay, incline frankly squirm like an inch worm on my mound of pillows and MY ASS HURTS! I never thought I'd miss my hospital bed (which self adjusted every few seconds) but I'm miserable and likely to be stuck here for a few more weeks. What do you do for patients who can't move much? Air doughnuts? Wrap around pillows? Help me with ideas please. I'm so uncomfortable!
  14. Actually the good, bad and ugly stories are real and only a blind mule sees just what they want to see. Wait til you are ready and then do what you have done here already. Read All the stories and make your decision .
  15. My six year old has a feeding disorder which includes no natural hunger drive (ironic huh)? For him eating is a chore, not something he enjoys. Children with this disorder crave salty, sweet and savory.his snack foods are not things that are recommended for us as they are high in salt and fat (Cheetos for instance) but his main staples could be made healthy for us. Turkish is a favorite as is korreen. (I butchered that) strong fruits like mango or papaya added to Breakfast or a shake. Guacamole with tofu added.... We have basically given ourself this rare condition. So you just have to get creative.
  16. Did you read it in your doctors paperwork? In the liquid stage noodles are not allowed for me.
  17. Wow that black dress is so pretty on you. I do have some slight concerns about the before shot with the car.....did someone stab you?
  18. Heh heh so it wasn't just the Valium laughing . Glad I brought a smile to anyone's face.
  19. Glad to hear it dear. How are you doing on fluids and Protein? I'm sucking! My docs advice....eat anything you can keep down. I don't care if it's ice cream, just do it! Sadly I have zero. Interest in ice cream lol.
  20. Carol, obviously what works for YOU is that YOU should not weigh in daily. I however, like many other people enjoy the losses and understand small gains. It's a reality check for me that I like and need so I should weigh in daily. This is not a world of absolutes. Understanding that is really important to being successful in life .
  21. Being able to help others is such a wonderful thing isn't it? You've been through a lot but along the way it sounds like you found a new lease on life. All the best my dear!
  22. On a one to ten I was initially at a 12 to 14. When I broke my arm I was a six if that tells you how I felt. I've been there for the first five days and now on Valium I've dropped to a six. I am one week out
