What does the new "full" feel like?
In the beginning, it will be hard to discern between satisfied and full. You will have to learn the signals of being full versus satisfied. In the first few months, I ate to being full and that resulted in the stuck feeling, slimes in worse case and burps, hiccups best case. After a while, I started to understand the satisfied signal and stop there. Saved me many future trips to the bathroom after eating. Occasionally, I will still eat to full but only like once a month. I now have a six sense of feeling satisfied without having to measure, even if I have a little too much food on my plate. I give the last bite or two to my dog.

Coffee lovers...
I think they are ok. I don't see why not. However, I generally add coffee mate coconut creamer to my coffee that is not SF. Usually just a tbsp or so, but it really tastes good in my morning coffee. Gotta be alert to how much is used because higher calorie.

Sleepy ALL day today

Also I have found Bariatric Advantage chewable citrates to be really good. I order caramel flavor from Amazon every 10 days or so to fulfill 6 chews a day where each chew is 250 mg calcium. Works really well to take 2 of these an hour before eating 3 of your daily meals.- Vitamins

Rediscovered these a few days ago and they are yummy. They are like a little treat almost. We usually buy them from Costco, but I found some exotic Mexican variety at TJ yesterday. If you are far enough post op, these little guys are a really good snack.- Vitamins
Yup, we all do when taking PPI because calcium carbonate will not absorb so well.- Vitamins
A big handful, that's for sure. Multivitamin, D, b12, b complex, c, Calcium, Omega 3 and 6. Took them faithfully for 6 months and blood work came out well. I am continuing to take the same cocktail daily.- I need friends!
- Sleepy ALL day today
Ok, so I had this long acid reflux after eating my afternoon snack today. Still going on 2 hours later. First time this has happened. I popped a few tums, but did not help. It seemed to take a lot out of me as far as usual energy levels. I have this constant ache around my abs on left side area and poop is still light colored ( stopped taking tums since this post started to make sure they were not the culprit to light poop). Is my gall bladder going, my liver going or both? I have not been into the clinic yet.- New guy here, you've GOT to read this!
- 3 days post op...is this normal?
A good approach to hitting some good protein counts after surgery is to drink 1-2 ounces an hour while you are awake. You can do this with a shot glass or just measure it as you drink from a blender cup. Alternating between sweet ( protein shake) and savory ( protein soup) is also a good way to not get burned out on drinking the same shake all the time in liquids phase. I know it is hard at the beginning. It was for me too, especially during the first week when it was painful to even swallow. Try this approach to eating on the hour and it will really help you out when you need to eat every 2-3 hours during solids. Hope it gets better for you.- Waivering Between VSG and Banding...Any Advice?

I bet you will be, even before goal weight! Stopped using my cpap shortly after surgery along with bp meds (had hypertension with bp at 154 / 105...bad). In the last couple months my bp has been 100/70, which has never ever happened before in my life, even when I was at lighter weights. The surgery is so great to eliminate the need for meds!- Sick of scrambled eggs for breakfast
I know my response is a little late for this thread, but you might consider adding more variety to the scrambled eggs. For example, adding feta cheese and dill is really tasty. You can also make omelets with different veggies, meats and cheeses packed inside. There are a million things you can try with scrambled eggs. Why not branch out and try it?- How many calories?
Your calories are on target as you are drinking mostly Protein shakes. Some get even less (300-500). The calories will naturally increase the further post op you get as your stomach will allow for more. Right now it is important to focus on Water and protein daily goals rather than calories while you are healing.- who's eating the most carbs/protein daily?
I run a lot and eat a ton of protein (125-150 grams daily). However my carbs are still pretty low and only enough to help me with my workouts. Mostly good carbs from nuts.com. At this time, I have not wrapped my mind around a high carb diet. I am at a point post op where I am trying to bulk up the lean muscle with training. It may add 5-10 lbs, but I am OK with that.- I fu@#ed up today
You too newgrandmother. Your progress in your stats of your signature and your avatar really show quite a lot of progress. Super job!- 30 day squat challenge
Oh my gosh, I did like squats on steroids today in my cross fit class. We held a 20-30 lb medicine ball (may have been heavier), squat and on the way up out of squat, threw the medicine ball high up against the wall and caught it on the way down above our head, repeat. I need to work on these! My upper body strength and core are so weak, but are going to get better as cross fit continues to kick my butt.- Vet's Forum
Thanks for sharing your experiences Cheri. I agree that 1 glass of wine is all it takes to get sloshed. I don't drink too often, but do like the occasional glass. I have had 2 since surgery after 6 months and have enjoyed them for both the taste and the social aspect.- A thread for people who dont argue, name call, dictate or generally just be nasty.
Maybe it is because I am a guy, but I like to keep food related stuff ultra simple. I make sure I eat about 25 grams of protein a meal, 5-6 times a day. That is ll I really pay attention to really. I do not really count calories, but have an estimate based upon what i know my food choices are for the day. My diet is naturally low carb because I tend to eat either pure protein or chose shake mixes that are low carb. Lately ( last couple months), I have been eating some energy squares before running and these guys have good carbs and fats in them. I am going to start eating a low carb protein bar and got some good altnatives in a thread I posted yesterday. Also, never was Interested in tracking via MFP so just try to follow KISS rules as much as possible when making food choices that are compatible with losing weight. Not everyone will like eating this way, but it has worked really well for me so far and minimizes the time needed to track stuff. I am in process of changing my diet to be more compatible with long term and high activity levels (Running and Cross fit). I am thinking of eating as naturally as possible and try and hit a good fat/carb/protein set of percentages. I will probably always be drinking protein shakes because I enjoy them for first and last meals as well as after a workout.- How Did You Celebrate Getting to Goal?
