Ok Odd 10 Day Diet
Every doc has their own preop diets and requirements. Doesn't seem like there is a set "normal" preop diet.

What Exactly Do These Coordinators Do?
Oh I was subject matter expert before my consult. And I told her in detail what was required. I only have my nut appointment and pulminary exam left then she can submit. She started getting back to me right away when I copied my surgeon on emails. My surgeon givs all his patients his direct number, cell phone, and direct email. So if she keeps slacking I will let him know. I don't expect an answer in 5 minutes. But within the same week is preferred. :-) But I figure once I am approved I get to start working with the medical team. So that is what's keeping my hopes and drive going.

Tips For Those With Kaiser Permanente Insurance In Or Near Denver, Colorado
Whew so thankful I don't have Kaiser any more. Not that UHC is a dream. But the docs at the Lakewood Kaiser office off alameda were horrible. I was trying to get a referral for the neurologist for my ms. Took them 3 months to send the referral to the neurologist. But if I called either there was no referral associated with my member number or the pcp was working on it or blah blah blah.

Cold Cereal?
Sorry. Phone app. You can't drink while you eat, so that's why they say no. Every doc is different. But that's a lot of starch, calories, carbs, ect that have little to no protein. Also those foods are still solid, so when you go to full solids you can ask your surgeon.

Cold Cereal?
It's my fave too. But those are a no-no.

What Exactly Do These Coordinators Do?
They wanting to use their "recommended" dietitian? Aka the person they have a contract with? Im still miffed that she was going to just sit on my claim until she had 6 months of diet. Which I told her she doesn't need. Once those papers are submitted I'm calling insurance to check the status. Not her.

What Exactly Do These Coordinators Do?
She assumed I needed 6 month diet. I told her durring the consult my insurance didn't have the diet. I had to have a diagnosis of obesity of 5+ years. So she was sitting on my file until she got 6 months of diet. But failed to tell me that. Last week it was she would submit info this Monday. This week I need to have this that and the other for her to even submit! What the frap? I'm going to this surgeon because him and his medical team are the best. But his coordinators stink a big one.

What Exactly Do These Coordinators Do?
I'm just wondering what these coordinators do all day at the doctors office. I know they have to meet with prospective patients and call insurance. But why does it seem to take them a week to get back to you every time you call? I just want a time frame for when she plans to submit for approval. It has been a week and nothing. Inma bout ready to be a pain in her bum that even preperation-h cant cure.

Sleep Study Hell!
Have you had your psyche eval? This anxiety would be something to talk to them about. Also the negative thoughts of not needing any support and working yourself up are self sabotage. I know it's not what you want to hear, but maybe talk to someone about why you are having these feelings. How you can get through the sleep study. How to cope with life after the sleeve. Also kind of have to agree with tish. Texting, updating and chatting aren't showing signs of true effort with the study. You may have been trying, but texting isn't the best way to help fall asleep typically. I don't think any of the techs were making threats. Saying if the study isn't completed, then the surgery can't happen isn't a threat. While in a moment of panic and the primal response of fight or flight kicks in, the smallest statement could be percieved as a threat. If you want this then you will jump through hoops. Rather then a sleeping pill ask for something to help you stay calm so you can sleep. Maybe they can give you a script for Xanax or something similar.

Liquid Diet
Only clear liquids day before when I get sleeved. They did the co2 test with my blood test and since I had just quit mine was not too great.

Too Depressed For Surgery... What?
Just thought I would mention bariatric patients have a much higher suicide rate. Not pre op. but post op. http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE68R5FM20100928?irpc=932 http://www.eatingdisordersreview.com/nl/nl_edr_22_1_3.html Might be worth reading.

Insurance Complaint
Sorry but I hate that people that have never met me or knows me other then claim whatever get to decide if my life is important and worth it to them to approve a better quality of life.

Affinity/eden San Leandro Region
I have UHC and what I was told about my policy is that dr made decision. Doc said its insurance call. So dizzy from all the conflicting info. Every policy is different. Names and dates of who you talked to and also check current coverage document.

First Time In Whole Process
First time through whole process I am having a break down. I have kept a positive attitude and worked to make sure I have everything I need. I meet with the surgeon today and I wanted to just double check insurance. Now I am deflated because they want 5+ years of morbid obesity. I have not been morbidly obese for 5 years. I hovered around 35 for most of my life bit I have worked and worked and struggled and fought to NOT hit the 40+ BMI. I hit 40 earlier this year and am not able to lose because of MS and knee surgery. Also genetically cursed with obesity running in the family and diabetics as well. But oh no, no one could tell me if those were enough to offset the 5 years. And I have UHC, who is supposed to be the easiest to work with. Hate that a person who has never met me will decide if my life is worth shelling out the money for or not.

Any Advice On How To Quit Smoking?
I quit after hypnosis. Nice part about hypnosis, is when you find one that works, no cravings. 1 1/2 weeks since last smoke and honestly I just don't think about wanting one. Took a few try's to find one that worked. But now I can be around smokers and have no desire to smoke. The first three days were rough because of the nicotine. But I didn't want to risk becoming addicted to the replacement therapy, and I did not want to take the rx to quit and still have to fight mental cravings. Basically I became a non smoker in an hour.

Mark A Few More Off The List!
My cozy little land of denial has been taken away. :-( Got my blood test results. A1C levels put me at beginning stages of pre diabetic. HDL levels are really low. LDL levels are above normal and so are triglyceride levels. Heart desiease, morbid obesity, and diabetes are what killed my grandma at 62. I'm following in her path. Hi, freak out time now? I think so....

We Own Our Perceptions
I am finally smoke free!! But one area the hypnotist talked about is our own perceptions. Such as a roller coaster. One may think its awesome. Another may think its terrifying. Neither is wrong or right. Because at the very core it is just a roller coaster. It is how we as individuals perceive the event. Your feelings about this adventure can never be wrong or right, because they are your feelings. You own your perception of your journey. In the end strip away personal fear, hesitation, elation, denial, joy, sorrow, happy, triumph. And remember your perception of this journey is your own. And you own your journey.

Please Dont Judge - Yes Or No Is Fine
No. One puff is all it takes to go back down the smokers path. Just remember antidepressant can take up to a month or more to fully take effect.

Celebrate Vitamins
I take flintstone vitamins. They have one with extra calcium. They have one with higher iron. Much smaller and don't taste bad. Add in the sublingual B12 and maybe that would help.

63 Hours
Thanks for the support. Did hypnosis, so my mental addiction is really not the issue any more. My sub conscience "cues" that it's smoke time are gone. Just this physical part is hard. Lots of water.

63 Hours
Been 63 hours since I last smoked. Physical cravings withdraw is peaking, and woke up with the "smoker cold/flu" Mentally I just don't want or need one. But physically my body is screaming. Get past the 72 hour mark and I should start feeling much better. After nicotine is out of my system I should be much much better. Just day three sucks no matter what method you use to quit.

24 Hours
Been 24 hours since I has my last smoke. The hypnotist that I went to was so worth it. I was cranky this morning, but I'm sure a big part of that was the fasting for the blood draw. No urge to smoke. No desire. No struggling. No craving. No want. No need. No nothing.

The Pain Is Like"blank" Compared To Plastic Surgery
I have not been sleeved. But I had a breast reduction at 17, and I woke up in recovery screaming in pain. So needless to say the possible pain freaks me out.
