  1. Getting sleeved 7/17 by Dr. T....being in the health field I know he is one of the best dr & surgeons in the area. Excited & nervous at the same. How was everyone's pain after surgery?
  2. My big day is on the 17th. I keep floating back and forth between nervousness, excitement and fear. Mostly the fear is of the unknown and possible pain. I am excited to seed the inches and pounds melt away. I am 38 and looking to enter my forties..thin & fabulous!!! Congrats to all those who have gone before me and good luck to those coming up!!!
  3. Good luck to you all!!
  4. So funny!! I just scheduled a spa day for myself for next Monday....the day b4 my surgery. Sending you thoughts and a quick recovery!!
  5. I wasn't required to do a pre-op diet. Just 24hrs of liquids day before. If you want to be surgery buddies..please send me a personal message. The more people in your support system the better Are you getting nervous at all?
  6. Well, had final Dr appt today for surgery on July 17th. I love my surgeon and his team...always willing to answer ANY question no matter how crazy it is. Being a nurse sometimes I go into nurse brain and come up some wild ones..haha Anyway, I am all ready for the 17th @ 7:30am to be the day my life changes and I take control of who I want to be not who I have settled to be for the past 20 yrs. Someone that is strong, that my children can be proud of and learn to love and accept myself again. I think sometimes we fall into the idea of what others see us as and forget who we want to be. So bring on my new life with all of the challenges that comes with because I am READY! Here is a cheer for all of us that are strong enough to take this leap!!!!
  7. I have BCBS FED Standard. They can't really give you an exact amount but you would be billed not pay at the hospital. Also with mine the pay 85% until you reach you max (mine is $5000). I actually went in to have lap band done on 5/29....they couldn't do it because of an blood vessel. Total cost for sx was $29000... That was both surgeon and anesthesiology, actual surgery and pre-op testing. I paid $230 total out of pocket. My dr office tells patients max $1000 usual total out of pocket. So for my upcoming VSG...it will be completely covered. Also VSG is cheaper than lap band. You can also do a payment plan with hospital for any out of pocket charges. Wishing you best of luck...also totally agree to double check if everyone that will be in OR is preferred provider before surgery. You money ... Your choice.
  8. Me too! Finally taking the plunge...good luck with your surgery.
  9. I feel the same way...my surgery is the 17th. It would ge great to have another surgery buddy. Just send me a personal message if you are interested.
  10. So funny...sometimes I swear my stomach does the same thing...like "I'll be good - I promise". As if it knows what is coming. I think it is just our minds playing tricks..but it is good practice.
  11. These work great..my son had a bad sinus infection recently and no water was getting through at first..after a couple of times it really opened him up and he felt so much better. We bought ours at Walgreens.
  12. All of you are inspiring....my surgery is coming up on 7/17 at 9:30am. Super excited along with the jitters...not the kind where you want to back out just the kind from the unknown. Just wondering how I will handle the pain...guess i will find out soon enough. Ready to get back into my life as the person I always knew was hiding under here.
  13. Congrats to all 3!! Wondering what is to come for me in just 11 days. WOW..when you put it in writing it doesn't seem very long but at the same time seems like an eternity. Sending great success for you to whichever job you take
  14. I can say I only told my parents, few VERY close friends and of course my husband. I just didn't want to be judged or listen to any unsolicited advice or opinions . My surgery is 7/17 and even though I'm nervous I am also so excited. As for nerves, I originally went in 5/29 to have a band put in but due to a gastric artery in the wrong place couldn't have it put in. So when all was said and done, I did have the surgery just not the band part. At first I was disappointed but no feel like someone was watching over me and is giving me the gift of a do-over. So after a little bit of getting my mind wrapped around changing to the sleeve - I am ready to dive in and start my new life. You should just focus on your support system and ignore the nay sayers...people disapprove for many reasons but you have to put yourself first and do what feels right!! I'll let you know how my surgery goes
  15. That is my surgery date too!! Wishing you the best for a new start to life!!
  16. Hi - 5'2" buddies. I am scheduled for my sleeve on 7/17. Wish me luck... Anyone in the VA - Hampton Roads area?? Happy 4th to everyone
  17. I would call the dr tomorrow and see if they can change your pain med or give you something for the nausea from the meds...either Phenergan (will make you sleepy) or Zofran (won't make you sleepy). I have my surgery on the 17th and wondering how I will feel after. Hope you feel better soon!!
  18. My surgery is the 17th as well. So ready to get this show on the road!!! Best of luck to you ;-}
  19. Great information....thanks for posting.
  20. Your posts are wonderful. I am also a nurse and having surgery 7/17. My nurse brain and all of the crazy questions have been in overdrive. I enjoy reading your posts and am beginning to see the possibility of a thinner life. YEAH!!
  21. Hi!! I am also looking forward to my surgery - 7/17. Ready for the NEW me or basically uncovering the OLD me
  22. I too have migraines and take Topamax as well as prescriptions for break through migraines. My dr said I can take everything except no Motrin (800mg) or any other NSAID for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I can even take it the morning of surgery and they will give it to me at the hospital as well. Did he specifically tell you that you had to go off your meds which can be dangerous depending on what it is?
  23. Anyone having surgery 7/17??? Looking for a mentor and a buddy to go through this journey with. My surgery is in Va. Looking forward to hearing from some fellow future sleevers and someone who has been there already!!! Thanks!!
