vssupermodel got a reaction from Ms skinniness in Help, Emotional Issues Right Before My Surgery Date!
Hello everybody, I can´t believe everything that´s happening to be before the surgery date in a week from today. My boyfriend has been helping me pay for the surgery for months now and I can´t believe we broke up a WEEK before the surgery... I think I am nervous about it that I am extra sensitive, I don´t know but I need someone to tell me that everything´s is going to be AMAZING because I have been waiting for this moment for a LONG time and I can´t believe I am facing this breakup plus surgery without him, he was like a husband to me. Anyways; I should be okay I am just shocked! I am getting my surgery on Sept 4 in México and have everything ready, expect his support....

I had the same kind of thing happen to me. What I did was take Bach Flower remedy it worked for my nervousness I guess I was stressed that I had financal and emotional as well as social things to worry about so I came across them and worked like magic! Like it says above there is no time to think negatively! Whatever you decide just be certain about it and assume all the risks.

Keep your eyes on the prize. I assume you are doing this for a healthier you and improved quality of life. Keep remembering that and also remind yourself that you have no options. I didn't say goodbye to anyone. It seemed that focusing on the remote possibility that something would happen to me would make the nervousness worse. Besides, what good would a goodbye do? If you were to die, it wouldn't make any difference to you and it wouldn't make any difference to anyone else because they would be distraught anyway.
    You will do fine.

vssupermodel reacted to O.T.R. sleever in Plication With A Low Bmi
Izuri, I realize that your question was not directed toward me, but I can definitely see why he would be posting here. Plication is more closely related to the sleeve than any other surgery. It is comonly referred to as Gasturic Sleeve Plication. It was originally thought of as a way to make the sleeve reversible. However this has not proven to be the case, many doctors have ceased even offering this surgery due to the high probablilty for complications.
As much as I would love to scream "DON'T DO IT!!! " I also have to realize that this is his choice and do what is reasonably within my power to help him make the best, most educated decision he can.
I'm actually glad for anybody that has the sleeve option available to them to come here and snoop around, ask questions, etc. His decision is not final yet, if I can be part of him making the best decision for him, then I'm happy doing that, regardless what his decision is.

I suppose I was asking if you had done all your research and decided plication was best or of your surgeon led you that way?
I had a brief look at it and thought it was too experimental. Seemed a lot could go wrong due to surgeon or suture error.
If this is your set path I wish you all the best, but if your mind is still open to other options, please research the sleeve, you will like what you see

Everyone is different and each surgery pain level is different too. For me the VSG surgery was not near as bad as my 2 seperate shoulder surgeries. Labor 1st time was terrible..2nd time better. I used the heating pad everyday for almost 2 weeks to help relieve gas pain on my left side. You can manage it and it will be over soon. Then you get to enjoy the best journey you have ever been on!

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I've decided that I'm only telling my immediate family (dad, mom, brother) but not anyone else beyond that. You can just PM me any time you need the support! I know I need all the help I can get. One step at a time!

I'm not as far along in my journey as you but my doc requires to do a 6-week Optifast. I do know that when I do a low-carb diet in 2-3 days the hunger goes away, but I'm eating way more kcal than you.. I guess I don;t have any advice except Keep up the Great Attitude. You will have much success in what you've chosen if you stick to your happy, determined attitude! Good Luck!
ps - I sound like a fortune cookie in that last sentence...lol

Yeah, it works. Stats speak volumes--just look around this site and you'll see how many of us have dropped a BUNCH of weight. More importantly for me, I've dropped it and it's going to stay off--this tool doesn't go away. Even today, and I'm 15 months out, I can't eat big ol' meals, and I literally cannot eat fried foods or many baked goods or pasta--Sleevie has my back.

I'm so glad I found this thread. Everyone's responses are so helpful - it's definitely something I'm fearful of. Part of me is questioning if I can "last" that long - through the pre op liquid diet and post op, but it does help knowing that I just don't yet know how I'll feel post op yet, so it's hard to wrap my brain around it.
I think it's natural, having gotten to the stages where we are, to simply question if you can do it. I know it will be challenging (for me, mostly mental) every day and having tried and failed at so many different weight loss diet and lifestyle attempts, my biggest fear is - what if it won't work? What if I'm not mentally strong enough to do this?
Reading people's experiences and positive encouragement and support makes me think I can.

I'm all most four months out and feel great. I have lost 46lbs, gone from a size 18/20 to a size 14. I love having a much smaller stomach and not constantly thinking of food. Worth very penny I had to pay.

I was worried about the preop diet and the liquid portion of the postop diet. Here I am off restriction since this past Tuesday and I can't believe the 8 weeks (2 preop, 6 postop) have passed. I really doubted making it through it all but I did. Remember the big picture and that the diet restrictions are only for a small time in the whole scheme of life.
Believe in yourself! You CAN do this!

I think it's all a mind set. Am I nervous? Of course. I'm also very excited and after 48 years, I've made up my mind. It's all upstairs in my head. I'm ready for this now. My kids are raised and I have nothing, or no excuses left to stop me. Onward and upward. August 1st can't get here soon enough!!!

Yes, I worry about this too. Mainly because my mind can't quite wrap around the idea that I won't have to worry about a "strict" diet plan. If I tried to make myself live off meals of 2-4 ounces a piece, I would immediately fail and go get a back cheeseburger. But the sleeve is going to give us the tool to be successful. I'm definitely going to get some counseling to help me through this transition. We'll get there and it will be great!

One weeks out? Sakes! It's going to get better. All the sagging skin in the world is better than obese. You will be able to enjoy food again, but you will eat in portions that skinny people enjoy. You will feel so much better and look it. It's too late for regret. It's time to get to work.
Just sip slowly. Suck on a popsicle. Try warm things or tepid things. I personally think that it is too soon for puree if you cannot tolerate them. Try going back to a least full liquids. Yogurt goes down especially well for me.
