  2. Good luck to you. Because youre getting this done at such a young age you will have the rest of your life to live so many great moments. Don't give up. Don't be scared. Go for your dreams.
  3. That's awesome!!!!!! I am starting to feel left out. Lol.....good luck to you.
  4. Wow! That's very exciting......good luck to you!!! Keep us posted on your progress.
  5. I so agree with this!!! I recently had a conversation with my boss about promotability as we were having lunch. He very nicely hinted to me that if I want to get promoted that I would have to drop some weight. He did this over lunch, and told me in confidence, so I very much appreciated him having the courage to tell me something that we all know is there. He basically told me that no matter how qualified he felt I was, to get promoted, that he knows for a fact, that the big wigs at corporate discriminate. It's not fair, but it's how the world is. So I agree with you 100%. I know advancing in my professional career is a huge thing that I am looking forward to. Oh... and the Lane Bryant and Ashley Stewart story facing Fitness 19. That was hilarious!!!! LOL
  6. Good Luck to you!!! Wishing for you a speedy recovery!
  7. Yes! There's 3 appointments all in one day, and one of those appointments is a psych evaluation. The three appointments are with the Surgeon, Internist, and Psychiatrist.
  8. Well..she told me that they usually just refer to Crown Bariatric if you don't request PBSMG. I told her specifically that I wanted to go to PBSMG. She then asked me did I know which doctor? I gave her Eugene Rumsey who is the same doctor that conducted my mom's RNY back in Dec.2009. He's awesome!!! She was able to put that into the system so that the case manager sends the referal to PBSMG.
  9. Congratulations! Youre on you way to a new you.
  10. Thank you! It's been a long time coming. Can't wait until I get that actual surgery date.
  11. Very exciting! Seems like it took so long to get up to this point, but now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!!!!
  12. Mzluvee.... I am truly hoping for the best for you. Hopefully the shadow is not much and you can move forward as soon as possible. I certainly feel your pain as there are so many hoops to jump through. Definitely keeping you in my prayers!
  13. That is super awesome! Congratulations to you.
  14. That's awesome!!! Keep rocking that sleeve!
  15. So..... today I feel like I have taken another step closer to getting my sleeve. For those of who don't know how the SoCal Kaiser process works I will explain a little bit. 1. You have to see your PCP and get referred for the Bariatric/Options Program. (I completed this in Feb.) 2. You have to complete the entire Options Class (For me it was 12 weeks and I finished 6/22/2012, some programs are 24 weeks..Yikes! ) 3. You have to complete tons of Labs. (completed this the first week of June) 4. You have to complete an abdominal ultrasound, chest xray, and ekg. (I completed this the first week of June.) 5. You have to have an appointment with the Prevention Medicine doctor. (I completed this Today!!!!! 7/10/2012) #5 - Is where they let you know if they feel surgery is right for you and refers you for the surgery. All my labs came back great, with the exeption that my Vitamin D level was low. She gave me a prescription for this. My ultrasound, chest xray, and ekg all came back great as well. Well, SHE REFERRED ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She was very happy that I continued to lose weight even after the Options program ended. I am so excited, and now I just have to wait a couple weeks to hear the confirmation that the insurance has accepted the referral, which she assured me they would. Soooo... What are the next steps? #6 Receive confirmation of referral. (I chose Pacific Bariatric as the medical group I wanted to go with. The Preventative Medicine doctor told me that most often they just refer to Dr. Suh with Crown Bariatric who has a pretty good track record as well. I wanted PBSMG because they're just awesome. My mom went through them.) #7 Have an appointment with PBSMG where you see three of their doctors in one day and meet with the surgeon. #8 Receive a call back after the appointment with a surgery date. It's been a long process.... but.... it's all worth it and I feel so much closer. A new life and a new day is ahead.
  16. Sorry to hear that. I had BCBS a year ago and the plan my employer had didn't pay for bariatric surgery. I was flat out denied. I waited an entire year, then got with a different insurance that actually covered it and now I'm about 3 months out from the procedure. This may be a minor set back for you, but continue to push forward. Don't let anyone or anything stop you. Good luck!
  17. Wow... You look great. I can't believe that's only 4 months. Keep up the good work and Congrats!

Glad you made the edit. I was thinking it, but I was going to say anything. LOL......I agree with your initial post though that the other person's insecurities definitely will reveal themselves.
  19. Well...personally I've never been attracted to a "skinny" girl. I've always liked a women with a little meat on their bones. (Know what I'm saying. ) Having said that.... I would be lying if I didn't say that I more often take a second look at woman that's in shape (not skinny), rather than looking at someone that's obese. Does this mean that I am conditioned this way? Is this the way society has led us to view life? IDK. Now certainly it's very attractive to see women taking care of themselves, whether overweight or not. So... I think most men...if they're honest...would admit that they're attracted to women who are physically fit and pay more attention to them too. Having said that....I am not turned off by all women who are not physicall fit. At least for me that's the difference. There's men and women out there that would not give the opposite sex the time of day if they carry any excess weight. As soon as the weight is lost.... then they come around. Those types of people simply irritate me. IMHO...lol
  20. That has to feel extremely good!!!! Congrats to you!!!
  21. Sorry you went through that. I think if we all dig deep we can find those wounds from different stages in our lives, we probably could write a book. I have so many different examples that I could share from my personal life. Instead of simply reflecting on the negative, I look toward the positive, and use those moments as fuel to succeed in spite of the people's negativity. I wish you luck in your continued journey and a joy filled life!
  22. Whoa...LOL! Chalk another one up for PdxMan!!!! That's awesome. Now what's funny... is that this girl went out of her way to make conversation about something that's really irrelavant. Now that's proof in the pudding that the attention definitely increases. Congrats on your sleeve! You deserve it all man!
  23. Thanks PdxMan for keeping it real. I think we would all be fooling ourselves if we didn't admit that getting that extra attention kinda feels good and it's also helps to build your confidence a little bit. Your example of the "eye contact" and the women "initiating the Hello" is a very realistic example. Thanks for sharing!
