    I Already Feel Weak....

I was sleeved on July 2nd. I was very weak for weeks and wasn't getting enough fluids. Your stomach will eventually go down in swelling and relax and it will get easier to get all the fluids and protein down. Just hang in there and keep with it. After a few weeks, you'll have an initial weight loss and have increased your intake enough, and your body will level out and you'll have energy.
  2. Yes, the bloating is normal and walking will help. I didn't have the numbness, although I gained 7 pounds in the hospital. It's all the fluids and gas and will come off. As for swallowing gas, I had the same problem. I talked with my surgeon and he gave me this tip.......take a sip of liquid, hold it in your mouth, tilt your head back and purse your lips; when the fluid is at your throat, then swallow. This transfers most of the air out of your pursed lips. I felt silly doing this for a few days, but it helped. After a few days, I realized I wasn't doing it anymore and that I had somehow learned how to swallow less air. As the swelling of my new tummy went down, I was able to burp. I am now 5 weeks out. It will get easier. Hang in there.
  3. I am 4 days postop from being sleeved. I carry approximately 80%-90% of my 100 pounds in my stomach. I just got my drain pulled today and most of my pain is in the left side where my stomach was removed and my drain was placed. I was told to sleep in a recliner a few nights after I got home. Of course, I have gotten very little sleep. I actually felt well enough tonight (with the pain medicine) to attempt sleeping in my bed. Every position, except my back, is very painful, and, when I lie in bed on my back, my chest aches. Needless to say, I am , once again, sitting in th recliner, hoping to doze off for a short bit. Has anyone else had this or a similar problem? How long did it last?
  4. Was sleeved yesterday. I was in severe in yesterday, bu I'm now feeling better, just a lot of soreness. Who else got sleeved on July 2nd?
  5. I was sleeved four days ago (July 2nd). I'm struggling to get everything in. I am constantly full and gassy. I'm just miserable and forcing myself to do the doctor's instructions. Is this normal? Has anybody else gone through this? How did you make it through? Thanks.

    25 More Hours!

Good luck, everybody! I, too, am on the bench with you guys tomorrow. I have a 9 o'clock surgery CST. We are going to rock this sleeve!
  7. Maybe you can try Pedialyte or Gatorade. I think there are clear versions of both.
  8. My surgery is July 2nd and I'm starting my preop diet. I purchased unflavored Unjury and ready made Muscle Milk Light. I tried the muscle milk by itself and it wasn't bad. Then I tried the Unjury in skim milk and it was BEYOND NASTY! I wanted to vomit hours afterward, it was so nasty with the milk. I had an idea to mix it with the chocolate Muscle Milk Light, and it was doable, but that is not something I feel is feasible...to buy two protein products and combine them. Any other suggestions I can try? Any thoughts would be welcome. Thank you.
  9. Gosh, thank you everybody! You've been a great help!
  10. I'm scheduled for July 2nd. You are definitely not alone.....
  11. Hi! I'm two weeks out from having my sleeve. I am kind of nervous/anxious, but excited about my potential better health and wellbeing. Can you tell me what protein powder/drink and/or vitamins you like best? I'm still shopping for those. Thanks!

Nadoue, that is great! It seems like you had great success with your weight loss! Congratulations! If I may ask.....how much weight did you lose? Did you do anything to help with your skin? I have been 100+ lbs overweight for about 20 years and I'm worried out my skin. I've almost resigned myself to having body contouring surgery after my weight loss, if I can't shrink my skin back down enough, although I would prefer to avoid more surgery, if possible.

Hi, Devon. I haven't had the surgery yet. I'm having it on July 2nd. I have also had a struggle with my weight (my entire life, I'm 42). My doctor is going to keep me in the hospital for 2 days. I work at home, and so he told me I could go back to work when I feel able, possibly as soon as a week. His only restrictions for me were the postoperative diet and not to drive until I've been off pain medicine for 2 days. I struggled with whether this surgery was the right thing as well. My mom-in-law was worried about me having surgery and asked me to try to eat the small amounts like I would after surgery now. I know it would not work, as it seems I'm always hungry. I feel I really need to do this because my health is starting to change (recently diagnosed with diabetes). This is my best shot and I have to take it. When is your surgery? Is it on the 2nd as well? It sounds like we will be sleeving at the same time. I'll be looking for your updates. I'm praying for your smooth surgery and speedy recovery.
