  1. Hey everyone! I'm Leigh Ann and am new around here. I originally chose to do the gastric sleeve surgery but have since changed my mind. I am really nervous that my insurance won't allow me to change to the band. They are telling me I need a second psychological and nutritional evaluation. They are going to try and pry my brain to see why I changed my mind. What do I say? How do I tell them that I like that the lap band isnt permanent and less drastic? I understand that all of the surgeries are a big deal but the lapband in my mind is just a bit less threatening and risky. I am so nervous and on the fence about everything. I dont know what to say or do once I get back to the psychiatrist (that I have to pay out of pocket for again btw). Any suggestions? Help!

    Changed My Mind

Thank you all. I appreciate all the insight and debate. Just keep it polite and simple. I never meant to start a name calling war. We are all people with the same issues looking for support and advice. I appreciate it.
  5. Did anyone else feel like maybe this won't be successful? I mean like you couldn't follow through? Did you feel that maybe you mentally couldn't handle it because of your past habits? I'm very scared that I will be miserable after surgery or not gain the will power. I don't know what to do or think anymore and could really use some advice. Thank you.
  6. So proud! Good for you! That is awesome! My surgery is July 23rd and I cannot wait!
  7. So ladies and gentlemen, I have thought of a pretty good idea. I went to the store (Target) but also you can go to the grocery store or Walmart. I bought: a binder page protectors dividers highlighters colored pens one folder I sat for two hours on my computer and looked up recipes for all different stages of our post-op diet. I separated all the different diet recipes that I liked. And also separated them into Breakfast, lunch, dinner, Desserts, and drinks. This makes it easier for quick reference to make meals. Also it is easier to plan a week's worth of meals. And also for food shopping! I put all my important paperwork gathered so far from all my doctors and specialists regarding the surgery into a folder. Lists of food groups and nutritional information from my nutritionists, I put in page protecters and put them in the front of the binder for easy reference. I also put loose leaf paper in the back to write things down if necessary. I plan to make a to-do list before and after surgery and a to-read list as well for good books to read regarding our surgery. Everything is in one place, clean, and organized just the way I like it. Hope this helps all of you busy bees!

    Books

What about the starfish one did you not like? I want to buy the best ones out there and if that's not what I am looking for, I will remove it from my list.

  16. I was just on one of the forums of a lot of people with leak complications and abscesses. I was a little nervous before. Now I'm scared as hell! What do I do? I know there are always complications involved in surgery but I'm honestly on the verge of tears now.
  17. I am going back to college soon as a sophomore, living in the dorms. I am an RA on campus and have my own room. I will have three weeks after surgery to recover and get back to everyday living at school. BUT we are not allowed to have our own microwave, stove, oven, etc. We have to share the weird, creepy kitchen in the basement. it is going to be incredibly hard for me to make the healthy foods I am supposed to be eating. I understand time management is also key but what am I supposed to do?! Does anyone else have/had this problem? What did you do? I am very afraid I will be stuck and not have the option I would at home. please help!
