I am pre-op too, so I don't have any experience to share. You're doing the right thing by joining this site... the posters here are wonderful!
This site has erased any doubt I had about getting sleeved. My surgery will most likely be in November, but I have already made big changes in my life thanks to the amazing posts here.
Good luck on your journey

TransformerOfYoungMinds reacted to SweetTee in Last 4Th Of JulyI originally anticipated a Nov surgery date and I've been contemplating hard about moving it up. I would hate to go through the holidays and be sick at the sight of food. I can't wait though, by next 4th we will be in better health and shape!

TransformerOfYoungMinds reacted to Webchickadee in What Was Your Breaking Point?Shellbell, you will have that.......I really hope! Regardless of your weight!
I am 42 years old. I spent most of my life single. No boyfriend in high school, sporadic dating in university. I met my future husband when I was 35 and we were only together for 6 months. It wasn't the right time for us. I was about 270 lbs at the time, and he was probably around the same (but he's 6'3" and I'm 5'4"!). Our break-up had nothing to do with our weight(s).
Then, suddenly out of the blue, he emailed me 4 years later. It was one of those "movie moments". I saw his email on my Blackberry. I get a lot of spam all day long so I am always deleting emails. On the Blackberry screen you can't see the whole person's name or subject line.....I actually hit "delete" for his email, but you have to confirm the deletion. I second-guessed myself, and kept it (I didn't know it was from him....I thought it was spam!).
Turns out he was apologizing for his behaviour when we had been together 4 years earlier. He had changed his life 180 degrees and wanted to say thank you for giving him a kick start.
Long story, short (too late, I know!), we started dating in January 2009. In December 2009 while on vacation in Jamaica, he proposed during a candle lit dinner on the beach. And we were married in September 2010 (I was 40 years old and this was my first marriage!). You can see pictures from our wedding in my photo gallery (in my profile).
I was over 300 lbs when we were on that beach in Jamaica. He didn't care. He loves me for who I am, not what I look like.
Now we're both losing weight (me with the sleeve, him with the Atkins) so we can be healthier and live a long happy life together. It took me all these years to find (and re-find!) my soulmate. I'll be damned if I'm going to let my health tear us apart!
It's possible that your path hasn't crossed "his" yet. And you may not have a smooth road (we didn't). But when you find your partner, you'll know it. Perhaps losing the weight will give you the self-confidence you need to feel like you deserve that great guy? Who knows. Either way, I hope and pray you do find your life partner, when the time is right.
And right now, it's the time for you to concentrate on getting yourself healthy and making yourself happy with who you are (all over!).

TransformerOfYoungMinds reacted to Dooter in What Was Your Breaking Point? My breaking point??? Ok....you asked....... I couldn't reach my butt to wipe it!!!! That's it. Game over. Gotta do something drastic. Enough is enough. Couldn't be happier.
I have not thrown up once since the hospital.

TransformerOfYoungMinds got a reaction from Pre-OpLoser619 in What Was Your Breaking Point? My breaking point (when I decided to start looking into surgery) happened in February when my younger brother and his wife announced their pregnancy.
I am 18 months older than my brother. He has been married for 7 years and is now starting a family. At 30 (now 31) years old, I feel that I have allowed life to pass me by. I have never been in a long-term relationship. I am nowhere near getting married and having children, something I long to do very, very, very badly.
I made the choice to have this surgery because I was sick of letting my weight hold me back. I will be sleeved in November, but (with the help of this amazing site) I have already begun making huge changes in my life. I am ready to love myself and to allow someone else to love me.

TransformerOfYoungMinds got a reaction from Rosie88 in Intro PostHi Rosie!
I too will be having VSG surgery at some point, hopefully November. I have to jump through some hoops and classes (for my insurance), but I will definitely be sleeved before the year ends.
I am new to this site, but have been reading posts here for about a month. The posters here are wonderful beyond compare. They are knowledgable, helpful, and supportive.
Good luck to you on your journey!

TransformerOfYoungMinds got a reaction from Pre-OpLoser619 in Finally Saying Hello :)I have been lurking on these boards for months, and finally decided to create an account a couple weeks ago.
I am a 31-year-old middle school teacher who has battled weight problems since 3rd grade. Five years ago, I lost over 60 pounds on Weight Watchers, which I loved!!!! The point thing was so easy, I was working out like a madwoman, life was great.... until my father, who I loved more than anything, died unexpectedly (heart attack, diabetes, sleep apnea-- I have no idea... my mom did not want to do an autopsy). Over the next 11 months, I also lost my dog (who I adored), my great uncle, my uncle, and my grandfather (my last living grandparent). Needless to say, the weight came back on, and then some.
I battled depression during this time, but came out on top. My father's death inspired me to do what I love, so I went back to school and got my teaching credential. Last year was my first year teaching and it is the best decision I have ever made.
I went back on Weight Watchers earlier this year, and got down to 289. At this time, i began researching WLS. One of my co-workers got the lap band, so initially I wanted that as well. I even went to an amazing seminar (Dr. Billy in Ventura, CA). His office said I need to contact my insurance, which I did.
My PCP referred me to the Options program though Kaiser. I went to my first orientation, where the sleeve was mentioned. Since that day in May, I have researched tirelessly online while (not so) patiently waiting for my first Options class at the end of July.
Thanks to all of you amazing posters, I am truly looking forward to this journey. I am hoping to be sleeved in November while on my Thanksgiving break from school.
You have all been so informative.... I ordered unjury Protein powder, a blender ball cup, and picked up a bunch of sugar-free Torani syrups at Smart & Final. Had my first Protein shake for Breakfast this morning (Unjury chocolate Splendor and Water with a little bit of the Chocolate and Salted Caramel sugar-free Toranis)... it was great!!!!!
I just wanted to introduce myself and thank you for sharing your experiences......I am so motivated to begin this next chapter of my life. Sleeve me!!!!
