  1. Was banded in Mexico and found a local bariatric surgeon to do my fills here in VA. He is now reluctant to do the fills as I am currently on blood thinners (cumiden)and he is afraid I'll bleed when he inserts the needle for the fill. Is there anyone who has a lapband and is also taking blood thinners? If so, how do you handle the fills?

  3. Thanks to all. That clears it up for me. I couldnt stand the thought of 2weeks on the liquid diet again!
  4. I had lap band surgery 1week ago today. I have one more week on the clear liquid diet and then move on through the levels. I will be well into the soft foods stage by the time of my first fill. After the fill do I go back to clear liquids and work my way the diet levels again. Or do I stay on the soft food level.
  5. Thanks. that made me feel better! I,m definitely going in on Friday for my surgery! I am so tired of being so big and uncomfortable.. I need to get healthy.
  6. My surgery is this Friday. I hope I have as good of an experience has you have had. I'm really. Nervous too.
  7. Sorry, accidentally hit send button! You should have a patient advocate that can advise you and tell you the steps you take pre op.
  8. Hi. I am going to be banded this Friday in Tijuana. My doc is Mario Almaraz at Jerusalam Hospital. The staff has been great so. They email me frequently and pretty much held my hand through all the prop stuff
  9. Hi, I'm a newbie from Virginia. I'm 64 and ready to be a "normal"weight! I've been battling the weight since Jr. high. As a newly retired school teacher, I figure it's time for me to take care of me for a change. My BC/ BS of Va denied my surgery because of a special clause in our group insurance specifically excluding any weight loss surgery. I guess they are worried that all us teachers are fat and would all get the surgery and break the bank! My Lapland surgery is scheduled for Friday. I will be self-paying in Mexico. My doctor is Mario Almanza at Jerusalem Hospital in Tiajuana. I have been researching the Lapland surgery and Dr. Almanza for months and am pretty comfortable with my choice, however I'd like to hear from others who know of this doctor. Thanks!
