  1. Good luck with your new life journey
  2. Hi, I am here if you need me. I've been banded for 3 months and am down 38 pounds, it hasn't been hard for me as far as eating and exercising. I haven't had a fill yet, so I can't help you there. It's not often that I get hungry,On my visit last month, the nurse told me that sometimes the doctor get the band in the right location and you are in the "green" zone from the beginning. and the he must have placed mine the the right spot and will more than likely never need a fill. Good Luck to you on your journey knowing that you will do well.
  3. Congrats on your success, I know that there will be more to come. You are an inspiration to so many, keep on keeping on.
  4. Good Luck on your new life journey...trusting that you will do well.
  5. Maybe your not eating enough food throughout the day, and your body has adjusted it self to the calories your at to sustain your current weight. Try exercising more or maybe eating/drinking more protein. Please don't give up just having the band placed was a huge milestone. I encourage you to keep trying and don't give up on yourself. WE can do anything that we put our mind to, for we are winners. No matter how long it takes to lose the weight, we win because we have lost those old eating habits, we now exercise something that I am sure not many of us have done in the past and we are working on a new us, not just the outside but the inside as well. We gain more confidence when we see that we have obtained something that we have worked so hard for. Don't look back stay the course and I am here for encouragement if you need me. blessings2310@hotmail.com
  6. It's not just in the morning that your taste is affected, it's most foods that I use to eat no longer taste the same. I do remember for a time, that after I had my part of my thyroid removed that my taste for certain things changed as well, I was about a year later that I started to get my taste back for those things.

I didn't have any pain, only the gas pain that were bad. but my recovery was great.
  8. I actually just had my co-worker to find something for me, I've always wanted to run a race. I have started 2 weeks ago with the couch25k and it's great. A little hard the first week, but you get used to it, I don't go for speed, I jog at my own pace. I will be running a 5k on September 22, my job is actually sponsoring one that I found out about on yesterday, so I am going for it. I thought that I would have a little more time to train, but when I heard about this one I couldn't pass it up. It's a run for lung cancer awareness and my mom died from lung cancer 6 years ago. I thought this would be an awesome way to honor her and check one off of my bucket list.
  9. That is good you want to go slow. I thought that I was the only one that had taste issues. The foods that I loved before has the most horrible taste since the surgery. 3 months out. So my meals consists of fruit, cheese, crackers and fish. I loved roasted chicken now the taste is the worst. We had our family reunion last weekend, I just watched everyone else eat, thank God there were veggies there or I would have had to leave and find food for me to eat. I did ask the doctor, he said the good thing was that I only have a taste for the good protein.
  10. My insurance didn't require any weight loss before surgery. Dr. A. did advise that a few pounds be lost before surgery to help shrink the liver, for a better process during the surgery.
  11. I've been craving gum, and wondering the affects it might. I am gonna have gum.
  12. I thought that it was only me that see only imperfections. My husband, family and friends see things a lot differently that I do. I never really took pictures due to my weight and even though I have lost weight, I still won't take pictures. I will have to find some before and after shots so that I can compare. Be encouraged in know that in time you will have the desired look that you are aiming for.
  13. congrats on your new life journey. You will love Nancy. good luck, keep me posted. I actually work at st.agnes.
  14. I would love to become your buddy, we need all the encouragement that we can get while in this new life journey. You can add me as a friend. Renee2817
  15. Congrats to you both, this journey has been a wonderful thing for me. I've learned to eat healthy. I have been banded for 3 months and have not had a fill yet. I am 36 pounds down. I walk at least 20 minutes each day and I also work out on my glider in the evening. I am currently training for a 5k run. something that I want to accomplish before I reach my goal. Good luck to both of you, may you have a happy and health journey as well. Many blessings upon you
  16. I live in Halethorpe, down the road from St. Agnes where I was banded. looking for support as well from locals. I can be emailed @ blessings2310@hotmail.com.
  17. Please add me as well. been wondering how to add friends I am renee2817.
  18. That is awesome!, you've lost 5.6 pounds per week, maybe you should get another doctor. I've lost 36 pounds in 12 weeks and my doctors tells me that, that is great I just saw him on yesterday. Even the nurse said that, that was pretty good for 12 weeks. Keep up the good work and it will come off at a pace that is safe and healthy for your body, you can do it.
  19. I too have thought that my weight loss would have been more. I had surgery on 5/7/12 I am down 36 pounds, in 3 months. After reading the other replies. I guess I'd better be thankful and know that going slow is the key to keeping it off. Good Luck and keep up the good work.
  20. I will be 3 months for me on august 7, and I am down 36 pounds. I am glad to hear that I thought that my weight loss was too slow. Keep up the good work.
  21. I love, love. love Unjury. nothing else can compare.
  22. I went natural 3 years ago, I just wash, twist and keep going. I feel so much better, no having to worry about my hair sweating out during my workout sessions. I have been banded since May 7, 2012 and have since lost 36 pounds without a fill. I am thinking that this is slow weight loss, but my doctors tells me that I am doing pretty good to not have had a fill yet. There are weeks that I get frustrated due to water weight gain and muscle gain. Just trying to stay encouraged.
