  1. Challenge start 288 Last week 282 This week 279 -3 I think it might even be a tad lower then that but TMI I'm a bit 'backed up' lol So I made my challenge goal of 280! I would like to revise it to 275. I've lost 9 pounds so far with this challenge and I know ill probably hit a little stall since I've lost so much, but think 275 is doable!
  2. Add me please. I need new friends! Fallenangel2904
  3. Sometimes ill put it on a bed of raw baby spinach. Doesn't need dressing or anything since there's so much flavor in the tuna. I've eaten it with sliced cucumbers also like I would use crackers. Most of the time I just eat it plain though.
  4. Some things I like to add to my tuna salad- diced red onion, diced tomato, black olives, lemon zest/juice. I also play around with different seasonings. I've added a tiny but of curry powder to mine. It's yum! I've also mixed a little mashed avacodo in with it delish!
  5. I'm over a year out and it fluctuates a lot for me. Some days I swear I feel like I don't even have a sleeve at all and I can eat normal portions. Not good but I can. And other days ill get super full on half the amount of food. It's strange. Because of being able to eat more I was eating more then I should for a while so what I do now is make sure I portion everything out even on days when I feel I can eat a little more. I just don't.
  6. I notice this too. On non fast days by appetite is drastically reduced. I kind of have to make myself eat breakfast. It's also helped me cut down on snacking a lot. I used to eat 2 snacks a day between breakfast as lunch and between lunch and dinner. I haven't had the desire to have those snacks at all since starting 5:2. Just really happy with things!
  7. Great job this week everyone!! Last week 288 This week 282 -6lbs Holy crap haven't seen numbers like that in a long time!! Was SO thrilled!! Really been going hard I'm SO happy with this number! Only 2 pounds until my V day goal of 280, when and if I get there before V day (If this losing streak continues which I sure hope it does!) I'll revise my goal
  8. Who makes the coco dusted almonds? Those sounds yummy but I haven't seen them at the grocery store. Wanna look for them!
  9. I started the 5:2 plan this week and I'm really happy so far. It's definitely doable. I'm a little over a year out, not where I wanted to be weight loss wise. Today I felt a lot of restriction while eating chicken and I haven't felt that in a long while. I was amazed! I think the fasting has actually helped get my tummy back to feeling right again. I honesty missed feeling this much restriction so this was a pleasant surprise!
  10. So today was my first 'fast' day because I figured no time like the present! Went very well. I think this is something I'm going to be able to do. Feel really good about things. Going to do my next fast day Wednesday. Not sure what my regular fasting schedule will be, need to work it out. I was surprised how easily I was able to stay at 500 calories and while it was a lot less food, wasn't unbearable. Feeling very optimistic about long term success with this!
  11. Thank you so much! I just started the 5:2 on someones recommendation. Today was my first 'fast' day and so far it seems very doable and like something I can do. I'm definitely not giving up, just took a little detour!
  12. Hi everyone. I am new to 5:2 been reading it on it today. I'm considered a vet- 14 months post op. Not where I need to be. I was down 100lbs, I hit a stall last year (I wish I knew about 5:2 back then!) and I was literally stuck at the same weight for 2 months. After that I got discouraged, old habits crept back in and I gained 14 pounds on top of it. Have been back on track and have lost 6 pounds so far. Someone mentioned 5:2 in a regain thread and I'm going to give it a try. This seems doable and I definitely think it will get rid of regain weight and push me past my initial plateau weight. Will check back in and let everyone know how it goes!
  13. There are still 4 weigh-ins to go, so you are definitely welcome. Just post your weight, and your goal weight, and we'll get you added to the charts. Welcome! Thank you! Okay I'm in yay! Current weight 288 Goal weight 280 That's about 2 pounds a week. Definitely doable if I stay on track! Lets go!
  14. Um don't beat me up lol but is it too late to join in on this? I realize I won't have as much time as everyone else but I am just getting back on track and really think this will help me get there.
  15. I sent you a private message DeeDee. I'm SO greatful I found this thread right now!! I am in the exact spot you are. I was honestly afraid to even come here and post for fear of people being mean about it. I feel like a failure sometimes at it really sucks. But I refuse to let that be true. I lost about 100 pounds (Down from 379 my heaviest)- with still 100 to go since I was a heavy weight. I stalled at 280 and then the weight crept on. I put on about 14lbs. When I saw 294 on the scale over the holidays I FREAKED. I've taken off 5lbs so far, down to 288 but still a ways to go. But this thead was really helpful to me and I thank everyone for their helpful advice in here. I'm back to tracking my food again daily (If anyone wants to add me on MFP my name is Fallenangel2904) could use new support on there! And I'm going to join the V day challange too! I know things are going to be a little harder because I've lost a lot of the restriction I felt early on. I just am truly to figure out portion control again since for so long I let my sleeve do it for me. I have to be on top of it. We got this! I am truly motivated after reading this and think we can do it!
  16. Some days I honestly feel like a failure. I'm a little over a year out and am no where near where I need to be and even managed to regain a few pounds, Took a few off, working on the last 5-8 but I'm still mad at myself. I was a heavy weight, 379lbs staring. At first I dropped weight like crazy, losing most of my weight in the first 3 months. Then I hit about 280 and my body stopped losing weight. I mean it was the stall from HELL. Months I was stuck at that weight. The lowest I got was 278 for a brieft day when I had a stomach bug then right back to 280. I guess I got discouraged, old habits set back in and then slowly I crept on a few pounds then a few more. Over the holidays I had gotten to 294 YIKES. I'm down to 288 now, hoping with in the next few weeks of strict eating and working out I can get back down to 280. But I don't want to stop at 280. I would ideally like to get out of the 200's some day...I know I have to work extra hard now because I've lost some restriction and I can eat larger portions (SCARY!) I've managed to pull myself back THANK GOD, because I refused to see 300 on the scale again!
  17. I'm a little over a year out and I'm having that issue also. I really had to pull it back in because over the holidays it was far too easy for me to slip up. I'm retraining myself to eat less again, just under that 'full' feeling that I used to get with a lot less food. Once you get further out it does get tougher, but its still doable. Its going to be a life long commitment, not just depending on the restriction from our stomachs but at this point our own will power. Hang in there, I'm right there with you!
  18. Sometimes it's a fact of a child being brutally honest and even so it still hurts. Has happened to me many time. I used to babysit twin boys as a teen (I was a fat kid, teen and adult) And one of my earliest memories of being called fat was one of the little boys I baby sat for. I was 13 or so and I remember the little boy pointing at my belly and saying 'your so fat' but but in a nonchalant way. He was only 4 but it still hurt a lot. Kids can be cruel both intentionally and unintentionally. His mother overheard him use the word fat a few days later and she pulled his aside and explained that you shouldn't call someone that, that it can hurt their feelings and isn't a nice word. He just didn't know, but good parenting helped correct it and I alway remember how I applauded his mother for that Then there are the intentional insults by children that make me want to not only yell at the child but yes the parent. Fat hate is one of the few forms of prejudice that is still looked on as 'okay' or 'Socially acceptable'. We need to teach children from a young age that its NOT okay. It should be preached right along side gender, race and sexual orientation discrimination.
  19. Well you can't wear them in surgery obviously lol but in the hospital it's just easier to not wear them, for me anyway. I don't know about you guys but putting on panties after surgery was the very last thing on my mind lol. I would bring a loose pair just incase but pretty sure you won't use them
  20. They told me 6 weeks but I admit I went swimming at 2 weeks. I was out of town visiting a friend and I don't get to swim in a pool very often (it was winter and they had an in door pool in their building) so I did it and I was fine. I think as long as your incisions are not open you'll be okay.
  21. According to the BMI scale and what a 'normal' weight should be my excess body weight was about 220lbs. That would put me at around 160lbs. For myself I think I'm okay if I don't get there. I've already lost 100lbs another 50 would be great. That would leave me around 230 which I know for some that is a starting weight lol but I would be okay there. If and when i get there i can reevaluate. I'm mostly just going to see where my body will take me and be happy with the number/size even if according to the BMI chart that still makes me overweight. Then again i like having a little meat on my bones which i know isn't everyones cup of tea. But for me- I'm mobile now, something I wasn't 100 pounds ago. I can shop in normal clothing store now, I can live life and my health is good again. Something it sure wasn't at almost 400 pounds. I'm grateful for that and as I put that into perspective the number on the scale becomes less and less important. Just my opinion.
  22. YES! Exactly as Aussie said! I didn't want to post here for fear of being the odd man out, but Aussie summed up my feelings perfectly. I think it's important for pre ops to see both sides of the coin. Before surgery I think I looked at surgery as a fix for all the things wrong with my life. 'If I have surgery everything will fall into place' with relationships, jobs, family, friends and overall happiness. That isn't the case. Just as we tell people surgery isn't a quick fix for weight loss, you can't have surgery and just expect to be skinny- same goes for the quality and happiness in your life. Surgery isn't going to just magically give you that either. I hate to break this to people but being thin DOESN'T automatically equal happiness. I was someone who struggled with bouts of depression pre op, and that hasn't just gone away post op because my size shrank. I think on some level I thought it would. I've actually experienced some difficult emotional changes post op. I can not stress enough how important the psychiatric part of this process is. I need to get myself into therapy and I regret not doing it sooner. Don't just brush that off as unimportant. This process is SUCH a mental process as well as a physical. Therapy is an important tool and I recommend sticking with it from the beginning. Just my two cents and my experiences, of course yours will vary, but if you have any sort of underlying issues just know surgery isn't going to cure them. You have to do that on your own regardless of your size.
  23. You are definitely not alone. I know when I first came here it seemed I was one of the biggest ones, but there are other 'heavy weights' My highest recorded weight was 379, though I know I was bigger it just wasn't documented. Today 6 months post op I'm down to 280. Basically 100 pounds down. I hadn't been under 300 in SO long, it's amazing to finally be here. You can do it!
  24. Hi my November sleevers! I'm down 99lbs (almost to the 100 mark ahh so close lol) down from a size 26/28 to a 18/20 Highest weight was 379 Today I'm 280 Feel great! Got a little while to go but Im so happy with where I am!
  25. I was looking for this thread the other day! Thanks for bumping it!! Happy 6 month everyone!! I'm down 98lbs total (soo badly wanted to make it an even 100 but oh well lol) I feel great! 379 to 281! Went from a size 26/28 to an 18/20 now! Still a little bit to go but I'll get there! We'll all get there!! Hope everyone is well!
