  1. Awww beautiful story! Congratulations...and hello little bean!
  2. LOL Twoterville! I love it! Can't wait til I'm there!!! Congrats!
  3. Yep, i feel weak most of the time too. I wonder if I'm getting enough calories, and I know I'm not. I've been at around 300 - 500 calories. I just can't get in more with this type of food.
  4. MsPerry I'm in the same boat as you. I am just about to lose my mind. This is day 3 for me and i feel like i won't make it. But i'm gonna try to hold on. I am reading people's comments about getting past the 3-4 days so if I can get past tomorrow, maybe I can make it. But the way I feel right now...ugh! It's soooo hard!
  5. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad you're still with us, Lissa!
  6. LOL too funny! I'm having one of those days myself. At work, just staring into the vending machine. Cheez-Its, Cheddar and Sour Cream potato chips, Twix, Snickers...why must they ALL call to me!!!
  7. Dayum girl! You look fantastic!!! I really needed to see this today. Getting ready to book my flight to MX for my surgery and I'm so nervous. Not about MX, about surgery in general. But it's good for me to see the other side of this. You're where I want to be! Congratulations on all your hard work!
  8. Dayum girl! You look fantastic!!! I really needed to see this today. Getting ready to book my flight to MX for my surgery and I'm so nervous. Not about MX, about surgery in general. But it's good for me to see the other side of this. You're where I want to be! Congratulations on all your hard work!
  9. Ditto. I work as a consultant and i can't see taking off more than a week. That's too much money to lose. LOL!
  10. newgrandmother, Lissa and CanadianDot, thank you for the replies. It helps. You all are exactly right and it's all stuff I know is true 100%. Ugh! I'm just...I don't know...it's just so scary to think I might actually have a second chance at life.
  11. Now that i'm getting down to the wire and ready to book my flight to MX for my surgery, I find that I've kind of paused momentarily. I'm asking myself, "Are you really going to do this?" It's sad, but I keep seeing food and thinking I'll never again be able to fully indulge. One of the reasons I want this surgery is to lose weight because I want to travel. But part of travel is eating the local cuisine. If I go to Italy, i want to eat pasta! If I go to central and south america, i want the spicy dishes with rice. But I don't know if I'll be able to truly enjoy food again. This really is life-changing for me. On the one hand, I've tried for so long to lose weight. It's been in my thoughts every day, yet the more I think about it, the more weight I gain. So I know I need help. I see other people's success and I want it for myself, because I can see a new life for me...somewhat. I guess it's just that it almost feels like a death. A part of me has to die in order for another part of me to live. I want that, but it's unfamiliar. I have so many what if's. What if I have complication after complication? What if I can ever only eat a few bites? What if I really could have done this through diet and exercise??? What if I die? As I'm planning to purchase my plane ticket tomorrow (which makes the surgery a real event), I am getting scared. If I let go of food, who will I be? Has anyone else ever questioned at the last minute? OK, I'm going to bed. Maybe things will be clearer in the morning. G'nite!
  12. I think your cousin's husband is probably afraid she may get skinny and then decide to leave him.
  13. Oh wow! It's right at the top. I feel dumb. LOL!
  14. Oh Ok, thanks Strangely!
  15. Hi All, I've searched but haven't found anything related to my question. I feel at a loss with regard to what to take to Mexico. I am planning on taking Gas-X strips, but is there anything else? Do I need clothes while in the hospital? (Ok, probably not.) I'm just looking for ideas or tips on what I might need that I haven't considered. Thanks.
  16. I thought the broth was supposed to be free during the entire stay. Did this change?? So you had to pay for everything you ate (minus the arrival bowl)?
  17. This is true. It hurts to find out you're on the receiving end of gossip. I've been there many times and it hurt! But I think those experiences have steeled me, because in this case I really could care less who says what. I told a co-worker and she's a skinny-minny who was in the midst of some weight loss challenge. She very well may have opinions on my decision. So what? I really mean that. SO. WHAT. Caring about being judged is part of what got me to my current size. It's what caused me to stuff my feelings down with food. It caused me to stop even trying to live and instead stand still. I lost a decade of my life, worrying about what someone else might think of me. Now that I've come to my senses, I've got a long journey back. Anyone who cannot be supportive or at least be silent, they don't count. If folks talk at my job and I decide I can't take it, I'll leave and go get another job. That's life! And life is about the choices we make. I am happy for me, and because of that I want to share my happiness, that I'm on my way back to loving me. If folks can't or don't want to relate... So what?
  18. Wow! Great post!!! One more reason I can't wait to start losing!! LOL!
  19. I tried to NOT tell people, because I wanted to avoid any negative feedback. But the more I did my homework and researched, the more comfortable (and excited) I became with my decision. So I find myself mentioning it very casually, if/when the need arises. Everyone is hesitant at first. But I realized that they just don't know or understand my struggle with weight. (If you're 180lbs, how can you possibly know what it's like to be 340???) For the naysayers, with every reason they give why I shouldn't have gastric sleeve surgery in Mexico of all places , I give a clear reason as to why it's the best decision for ME. And by the end of it, they have nothing left to say. But the naysayers are not many. Ultimately, I'm happy I've finally made a decision to change my life. And I just don't give a d@mn what anyone else might think. For my loved ones, if they don't agree then I just tell them to pray for me that I make it thru the surgery...cuz it's GONNA happen! Still, I can see why some people may just not want to have to defend their decision also. It can be just more stress, which none of us need. I'm just excited though!
  20. I had dilaudid when i had my gallbladder removed. Mmmm, good stuff... Oh did I type that out loud...sorry.
  21. @Catracks, 3 weeks of nothing but liquids??? You're my hero, cuz I am struggling to do 2 weeks.
  22. Hi all! I've been reading various posts from just-sleeved people. Some say they had relatively no pain after surgery, while others had quite a LOT. I always wonder what sort of preop diet the people followed who had a lot of pain. So for those of you who've been sleeved, can you answer a few questions? Did you follow a pre-op diet? If so, what/how long was it? On a scale of "no-pain at all" to "just shoot me", how would you rate your recovery process after surgery? Thanks!
  23. You can also try Dr. Kelly (who I plan to go with). I don't know his BMI limit, but he did put me on a 14-day pre-op diet in order to lower my BMI. He wants me to get it to 49 or lower (currently at 52). I was told by Omar that Dr. Kelly would still perform the surgery, but he'd have to charge more if I didn't get my BMI to 49. So it might be worth your investigation. Also, I've noticed some of Dr. Almanza's patients who were in the 400lb range, so he may be another option. And don't forget Dr. Aceves, whom everyone seems to swear is the cream of the crop! LOL! Don't give up. You'll find the right doctor for you.
  24. How long did it take to deliver after you purchased it?
