    Chicken Pot Pie

I had the chicken pot pie soup by Campbell and just blended it up. meat and all. it actually tasted like the pot pie just not chunky.
  4. My doctor told me that i have a year to train my body to be healthy and active...after that first year its a little harder to do if you spend the first year eating junk and whatever and not excercising....

The Stuff They Don't Tell You

How about the affects of your medications...i take ultram for my back and before surgery it gave me an instant headache to migraine daily and i only took one a day...now i dont get headaches at all from it...that was like wow! also my clonedine made me a little drowsy before surgery (its only .1mg) and now its like a sleeping pill! Knocks me out within 15 mins...I quit having hot flashes...im assuming this has to do with lack of protein maybe? but i dont sweat like i did before...im actually cold alot...thats a huge change for me...

    10 Days Post Op...stage?

Just curious how the stages go on the post op diet...today im 10 days out and not sure if its time for the mushy/puree stage yet...I have already had some thinned out oatmeal and cream of wheat...so far everything has went down fine. looking for some more protein options...
  7. I have not had any trouble with keeping food down...just take it slow. Im eating deli ham, string cheese, fish, foods i am able to chew up really good. I have had some nausea but as long as i dont overeat its fine...you are still early out so just work on your liquids and try and get as much protein as you can...if you are getting sick while drinking then make sure you are taking smaller sips and let it get down before the next...i could feel it go down and a bubble come up(lots of burping lol) but now i can take a larger sip and its fine...im just learning as i go....i also eat with a baby spoon...that helps with your bite sizes. thats what my doc gave me before surgery to guide the bite sizes...
  8. For the first two weeks i couldnt even lay on my back...the pain kept me from being able to get into that laying position plus i got really sick when i layed down flat. I slept in the recliner for two weeks then was able to sleep on the couch which i was able to still be in an inclined postion. i was able to sleep on my side but the cushions supported my stomach so that it didnt hurt like just laying flat on my side. I am now at 26 days able to sleep on my sides and my stomach. The right side still hurts some when i lay on it...everyone is different and it will get better one day...it seemed to me that it would never feel any better eventhough i knew that was silly....good luck and just take it one day at a time
  9. I am 26 days out and i usually get around 300...im not sure what we are supposed to have but i try to make sure i eat as much protein as i can get. I dont get the recommended amount of that either...sometimes it seems like i have had way to much to eat but still the calories and protein are low...guess it depends on what you are eating.

    Leaky Heart Valve

The prolapse is basically a weak valve where when the blood goes through some flows backwards(regurgitation they call it) in my case causes shortness of breath and chest pains. Just make sure that you let your surgeon know in the medical process of these tests so that they can confer with your heart doc. I ended up doing a nuclear stress test because they had an iffy ekg and wanted to make double sure everything was ok before surgery! all was good. Good luck!

    10 Days Post Op...stage?

Hopefully not, everyone seems to be able to sleep just fine. it was just easier to get in and out of....i wasnt able to lay back on the flat bed. i graduated to the couch last nite lol...it helped with the nausea too.... every time i layed flat i got sick but not in the recliner...

    Leaky Heart Valve

if thats the mitrovalve prolapse you are talking about then no it shouldnt prevent surgery. I have that also...i had to do extra tests on my heart and have my heart doctor clear me for surgery....all was good!

    10 Days Post Op...stage?

Not taking that as harsh..Of course I would go by what my doc says....everyone has their advice...and thats what I asked for. My plan says 2 wks liquids & then Weeks 3 to 5 Weeks puree...so I guess im just nervous about that next stage. Thanks for all ur comments!

    10 Days Post Op...stage?

My diet guide has 2 weeks full liquids...and 3-5 weeks mushy/puree...so that sounds like to me starting at 14 days...just going to give it some more time i guess. not really having an issue with the liquids. Or maybe just add a soft food every couple days...thanks for your input and good luck with your surgery!
