Sleep Study Requirement?
I had a sleep study done, but it was done with a machine the company mailed me. I stayed hooked up to it for a few hours each day for 3 days, then I mailed it back to them. I tested negative, and my copay was $13 bucks for it.

Pre-Surgery Weight Loss Without A Liquid Diet
I don't have a date yet, but I got inspired by everybody and started a high protein/ low carb diet. My biggest struggle has been eliminating sodas from my diet (I was a heavy Dr. Pepper drinker). I'm so not looking forward to the liquid pre-op diet.

Am I The Only One...?
Ironically, I struggled (and am still struggling) with the decision to have the surgery. Telling people I'm having it (still don't know if I'm going to through with it) was the easiest thing to do.

Single Incision Vsg
I'm going to have single incision surgery too. Glad to know it makes a difference in recovery since I'll have limited time off from work. If you don't mind my asking, "Where was your pain? Was it sharp or more like soreness?" Thanks!

Just Got My Surgery Date!
Congratulations! I have Cigna too and I'm hoping to be able to stop the weight loss supervision after 3 months under the new policy. I could actually have surgery this summer if they allow it. Enough about me, congrats again.

Almost Approved!
Congratulations! I see Cigna came through for you. I hope they do the same for me. What's your date?

This Is Me Ranting. Why Did You Have Surgery?
I've lost 40 pounds too many times to count, I've lost over 100 pounds twice in my 36 years, and gained every pound back plus some every time. I obviously can't lose 100 pounds a few more times as I get older. Also, the 100+ weight gain this time bought me a diagnosis of both hypertension and diabetes. The time to "do it myself" has come and gone. I need this surgery just like the person that can't lose 2 pounds.

Pcp Letter Of Medical Necessity
- Pcp Letter Of Medical Necessity
Hello everybody, I was wondering if anyone can tell me what needs to be in the PCP letter for insurance purposes. I want to make sure it's appropriate for approval the first go round. Also, my PCP has some reservations about the sleeve, but not the band. She keeps trying to talk me into the band, so I've just started mentioning that I'm planning to forward with weight loss surgery, and not mention what type specifically. Can the letter say just weight loss surgery, or does it have to say what type of surgery specifically?- Protein Shakes The Best, The Good, The Okay, And The Don't Do It List
Do the Atkins Advantage shakes meet the requirements? I can guzzle those things down. I can almost convince myself that they're chocolate milk, if I add a lot of ice.- African American Sleevers & Hair Loss
She eventually got braids, but it was long after the hair loss stopped. We work in the OR, so we cover our hair at work. On the weekends, she just dealt with it.- Super Saturday Weigh In
I think it's only because my body is so shocked that I'm dieting. I bet the fat cells that have been vacationing on my body for a few years are starting to worry, lol.- Have U Ever Forgot To Sip & Took A Gulp?
This is a subject I've been thinking about too, mainly because I only get 30 min. for lunch at work and it's hard to drink anything in between (OR nurse). I'm worried about becoming dehydrated, so I was wondering how long before I could drink faster? It'll take the entire 30 min. just to chew the food, nevermind taking sips of water AFTER eating.- Has Anyone Here Had Dr.yu As Their Surgeon?
I know the place, lol! I've had two laparoscopic surgeries and went back to work in two weeks (I'm a nurse), but everyone keeps saying this surgery is like no other, so I'm afraid. I'm sure we'll both be fine, it's just the fear of the unknown. Let me know if you need anything, I'll be glad to help.- Has Anyone Here Had Dr.yu As Their Surgeon?
Let me know how everything goes! Where is your surgery scheduled? I'm a little afraid, what about you?- Just Starting All This
- Super Saturday Weigh In
Still pre-op, but everybody got me so excited about losing weight, I started early. Side note: I haven't dieted in years. SW: 280.5 CW: 271.4 - 1 week of high protein/low carb- African American Sleevers & Hair Loss
I'm still in the pre-op phase, but I'm a little concerned about hair loss too. I'm not really into maintaining my hair, mainly because I'm an OR nurse and I have to wear a hat at work. Another reason is that my hair is long, and it's just too easy to put it in a pony tail everyday. Anyway, I was wondering if taking supplements before hand actually helps any? I don't want to add any extra pills to my everyday regimen, because I hate talking the ones I have to take already (i.e. blood pressure and diabetes). Side note: My friend had weight loss surgery, lost a significant amount of hair, and when it grew back, it was a better grade. We laugh about it all the time.- Too Big For Surgery?
I've worked with two bariatric surgeons who imposed weight limits, 500 and 600, respectively. I've never heard of anyone imposing a weight limit below that. Regardless, the more weight you lose before surgery makes the surgery safer for you. Less risk with anesthesia and wound healing. Good luck to you. - Pcp Letter Of Medical Necessity
