  1. Had my surgery 6/15/12, and I am down 80 pounds. Seem to be on a plateau lately, but just kick started my workout plan into high gear! My goal was/is to get to a 100 pound weight loss by my anniversary date. Guess time will tell:) Very happy with my surgery, and my weight loss, but not a huge fan of the sagging skin on my belly and arms. Yuck! On a good note, I ran for the first time in 13 years yesterday. Felt so good!! Love reading everyone's updates!
  2. Hi All~ Been a a while since I have been on, so I thought I would come and update on my progress, if anyone cares, lol. Had my surgery on June 15th. Surgery went well, and recovery was o.k. Pretty sore the first few days, and hated hen I was able to eat more things, I found myself eating to quickly and not chewing enough. All the things that I read on this board over and over again!!!! It is just hard to adjust in the beginning. After my stomach swelling went down, I found my appetite to be quite large. Perfect timing. Had my first fill this past Monday. Not gonna lie, I thought it sucked!!! It was very painful and uncomfortable. My port was/is quite deep, and there is already quite a bit of scar tissue around it. This made for a painful session of the doc lady roaming around inside of me looking for the port. Ouch! Anyhoo, all was better as soon as she was done. Now have 3 cc's in my band and I feel a bit more restricted. Had to go back to liquids for a couple of days, and now progressing back to mushy and soft. So the weight loss part....... Starting weight - 296 Pre-Op weight - 285 Current weight - 268 Moving right along. They are happy with my progresss, and I am technically "ahead" of my scheduled weight loss. Now to get my big booty to the gym! Although I do not always post, I love watching everyones journey. This is a big decision, and this board is great for support:)
  3. So today I have gotten down half a bottle of Water, 3/4 bottle of Vitamin Water Zero, and about a cup of WonTon Soup minus the won tons:) I have read so many posts where people are not hungry at all right after getting banded. So why is my stomach growling?? Tomorrow I am able to start on Protein shakes and some applesauce if tolerated. Maybe that will help..... Just wondered if anyone else had tummy growls right after being banded?
  4. I am on day three and looking forward to having a protein shake today:) First two days were filled with Vitamin Water Zero and Won-Ton soup broth. Oh, and I did get down a sugar free popsicle. Tummy is grumbling, but I think they gas has a lt to do with it. When I eat/drink even a little bit, I feel stuffed so I stop. Honestly just ready for my stomach to not be so sore. I am sleeping good at all and only feel good when I am sitting up with pillows behind my back in our living room chair. Hoping every day gets a little easier......
  5. Not sure if there is already a post out there with this information or not?? Tomorrow is day 3 post op and I am able to start drinking some protein shakes. While the ready to drink are convienient, I do not always think they taste so good. Any one have some good recipes to make at home?
  6. Well, had surgery yesterday morning. Surgery went well. Not such a good time coming out of anethesia:( Went and got prescriptions with the hubster on the way home and was walking around pretty good. Most pain was up in my chest from gas. Also grabbed some lip balm, lips are really dry after surgery! Came home and was getting around pretty good. Forgot to take pain medicine before bed, and woke up at 4am pretty sore. Today has been worse as far as soreness. Chest pains have calmed down, now it is just my stomach that hurts. Trying to get liquid down as much as possible. Sending the hubster out for some Won Ton soup, minus the won tons, lol. Makes me feel like I am "eating" a meal even though I am not! I am a mom of 3 who is always on the go, so the worst part is all this sitting around! Just hanging out in the forums and doing a little online shopping. Hope all of you are doing well and getting excited if you you are waiting on surgery day. I keep telling myself every day will get easier and easier........
  7. Well this is it. Surgery day tomorrow. I have so many feelings swirling around. Scared. Excited. Nervous. Anxious. Optomistic. Can't wait for this journey to begin:)
  8. Hey everyone- So today is day one of my pre-op diet. The surgeon wants me on a strict South Beach phase 1 diet. So far I have had a 5 calorie Jello and some Water. I am not a good Breakfast eater, but I have some eggs boiling right now. Anyone ever had to follow this diet? If so, have any suggestions on some meal ideas? I do not want to eat tuna and chicken for every.single.meal! Thanks!!
  9. I am north of Dallas and having my surgery on the 15th as well:)
  10. Right smack in the middle of June (June 15th), so I thought maybe I could hang with the late June Bandsters. I started my pre-op diet on Monday, and like you, almost wish I was on protein shakes. I feel like I eat the same thing every.day. Ugh. But, I guess I shouldn't complain. Went to my pre-op appointment with my surgeon yesterday, and really liked him and his staff. Very comforting. I am getting excited to begin this new journey. I have told a few people, mostly family and a few close friends. Everyone is so excited for me to work hard and get back to the healthy girl I once was:)

    Egd Gastroscopy

Jean laid it all out good:) Just had mine last Wednesday and it was a breeze. Took a nice "nap" and woke up fine with no sore throat. Had the hubster drive me home and I was starving by the time we were finished. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight, and I did not get out of there til 3 something. You will do great!!

    Here We Go!

    Good Luck!!
  13. I start pre-op diet on Monday. I plan to have a few treats this weekend. Some good Mexican food at Blue Goose, my favorite chicken salad sandwich at Jason's Deli, and probably some Pei Wei. Probably all of them with a nice, big soda. R.I.P Dr. Pepper! hahaha!
  14. Long day. Home from the Cardiologist and EGD. The ticker is working good, got some medication for my blood pressure, and found a small hernia which helps with my insurance;) Got instructions for pre-op diet which is phase 1 of the South Beach Diet. Surgery date is June 15th and I am super excited and ready!!!
  15. Tomorrow I have an appointment with the cardiologist for clearance before surgery, and a EGD. Not excited about tomorrow, but getting excited that these are the last few steps before surgery on the 15th:) Starting to do a little shopping for some maxi dresses for the summer. I figure they are a good choice for changes in weight throughout the HOT Texas summer. Hope everyone is doing well:)
  16. Hi there:) I am scheduled to be banded on June 15th. I have a short road trip to Austin with the PTA board from my kiddos' school. Any advice on things I should take? Also, I am sure there will be some eating out, any advice on how to handle that? Anything I should avoid? Trying to keep things discrete and not make a big deal out of meals. I do not know a lot of these women that well. Thanks in advance for your advice;)
  17. End of July, so a little over a month after. I have not gotten my post op diet yet, so I am not sure?
  18. My name is Megan and I am so glad I found this site while researching the LapBand procedure! Just got home from my first consultation. I have to complete an EGD test on May 30th, and my surgery is scheduled for June 15th. Very nervous, but VERY excited. I look forward to learning more and getting advice from those who have traveled this road!!!
