  1. As a matter of fact, I have one in right now. It comes out on Thursday at my first follow-up appointment. I'm dreading that "weird" feeling and what they'll do to close up the area. Yikes!! From what I understand, it's there to drain the excess Fluid (saline) that's put in the abdomen during surgery. It's gross; but easy to care for. I just can't wait to get it out. Good luck!
  2. Hello everyone. I had my surgery on Oct 1st and, I think I'm doing as well as expected. I have a question for the recently sleeved. I'm having what I would describe as internal tremors or chills. In not sure if this is normal. I should mention that I still have the drain in my side until my first post-op visit. It's secure; but I can't help but wonder if the chills are related to the drain or if I have pneumonia. This would be worst case scenario. Is anyone experiencing the same? Thanks for your feedback.

  7. I'm alive! Though very sore and completely doped up, I made it through. More to come. Hope all of my fellow 1sters are coming along nicely. God bless!

  12. Okay October 1st sleevers! Let's get this started. We're on our way to a healthier and thinner life. Woo Hoo! I have to be at the hospitl at 8:30 and I'm nervous as heck. But, I know that God had my back and all that I'm working toward is not in vain. We'll chat on the other side of surgery. Best of luck my fellow sleevers!
  13. Thanks for weighing in everyone. I needed this assurance as my day quickly approaches. Congrats to you all and here we come October 1st sleevers!
  14. Hi everyone. I feel really awkward about asking this one; but here goes. My surgery is this Monday, the 1st. Yay! And I just got my period yesterday. Boo! First, I never thought about this before. But, can I still have surgery. I'm thinking blood loss. Yikes. Also, they have me cleaning myself with those wipes the night before and the morning of surgery. Do I need to explain more? I can't imagine not properly grooming before surgery. Any advice? Sorry.

  16. I had that happen on day 1 and ended up going home and microwaving a piece of unseasoned boiled chicken because I was so famished. But, fortunately, I've been doing well for the most part. Thanks for the support! And, yes, I'll have to imagine the "world" on the other side since I've never been a skinny mini. Lol awk

  18. Hi there! Day 7 of pre-op and it's been quite a struggle for me; mentally for the most part. However, I do have one good thing to report. I just left costco with my Protein supply. But, that's not the good part. I didn't ****** up any samples! Yay! Or pizza. Yay! I was so afraid to go because I didn't believe I could say no to them. With that said, Oct 1st can't come soon enough! Lol
  19. Congrats and a speedy recovery!
  20. You're 4 (more like 3) days away. Congrats!! I'm just closing my 4th day and I'm feeling the same way. My surgery is Oct 1st. Rather than sulk in the corner, I'm trying to face my fears by continuing to cook, for the family, foods I can no longer eat. It's so depressing. But, adding to your point, does taste testing count? Will that compromise the shrinking of the liver? Good question. I'd also like to know... If I made my own soup and blended the solid veggies down until liquid, is this okay for the pre-op liquid diet or is it strictly broth? Cheers!

  22. Oct 1st here too! Yippee!! I'm embarrassed to say that it's been like "the last supper" for the entire weekend; like my last meal that I'll ever get. Lol. Like you, I'll start my pre-op diet tomorrow and I'm trying to stay optimistic about it. You asked about avg night stay and missed work days. I was told that I'll be in for 3 days and will have a note for up to two weeks of leave. The missed days will likely depend on my progress. My surgeon says that its common to feel extremely tired after the initial recovery period and, of course, you'll be on medication. Hope this helps. Congrats and a speedy recovery!
  23. Hi there. Looks like your surgery is right around the corner. I was waiting on the sidelines, until TODAY! I'm right before you, Oct 1st, and reality is slowly setting in. We have a similar starting weight too. I wish you the best in your surgery, in your recovery, and in your new life!! Cheers!
  24. So did my husband, the Dickinson part. Wow!
  25. Look how small this world is! I'm from JC, born and raised. I'm now in Virginia; but miss NJ so badly. What school did you go to? I went to school in JC and Bayonne. JC stand up! Lol Alicia
