  1. This is a fear of mine too! I am going to have to try to find me some of those compression stockings.
  2. Is there a brand out there that makes a peanut butter shake? Just a plain ol' peanut butter shake. No chocolate, no banana. I love peanut butter, and I know I could just add it, but it would be so much easier not to have to. Maybe even if they made it in a pre-made drink.
  3. I'm starting to think I am the only one who doesn't have an appointment with Dr. Curry sometime this week. I don't think I'll see him again until my surgery day. lol.
  4. How are you feeling? How was the pain afterward did you have a lot of gas pains? I have surgery on April 8th (21 days)!!! Aside from the fear of not waking up, the gas pain, and pain in general freaks me out! How was your recovery?
  5. I know it may seem as though your surgeon is being mean, but they have a method to their madness! Actually the less your BMI is the easier the surgery! So this is a good thing!! I agree with everyone else above though. Go to shakes and Water only. EAS has a low carb shake that is awesome! You can get them at Walmart. I would drink 5 shakes a day (about 2-3 hours a part if possible).
  6. Congratulations!!! This journey can be exciting and aggravating in one. LOL. You have done your research it seems. So I'll gives you the best advice given to me when I first started out. First start dealing with your emotional eating habits now. Which you mention you are going to. Next start giving up those unhealthy eating habits. Stop eating those foods aka junk food, pop etc. The sleeve is only a tool. You still have to make healthy choices. I just had my nutrition class last week and I was shocked at how many people in the class got upset when they found out that they shouldn't eat junk food, drink pop and limit their alcohol. They was really upset over the alcohol. LOL. Good luck Sent from my KFOT using VST
  7. So what made everyone choose the surgeon they did? How did you find out about him or her? I first heard of Dr. Curry after my cousin had WLS. She really talked highly of him. So when I decided to have surgery I of course checked him out, and did my research. I did look at other surgeons in the Dayton area. I just didn't feel as comfortable with anyone else. I am also self pay and honestly thought that I would walk in the office and they would just give me a date and start on all my pre-opt testing etc. Boy was I wrong.. I had to lose weight and lower my BMI. First. I am very thankful for that now. Sent from my KFOT using VST
  8. More than likely she had a partial hysterectomy so she may still have her uterus. Just no fallopian tubes or ovaries. We produce different hormones for ovulation and our periods. So we can lack ovulation and still have a period. Also they can test your thyroid all they want but if your thyroid isn't having a " spell" or attack they won't see any abnormalities. Your levels will be normal. Sent from my KFOT using VST
  9. The reason you experience pain in the shoulder is because the gas sometimes pushes up against the Vagus nerve that runs along your stomach and up into shoulder, causing pain. When you walk it pushes the air up and out! Or maybe down and out too lol. As far as pain goes, I don't know yet, I haven't had surgery yet. So I can't tell you how the pain is. I'm having surgery on the 8th, I will let you know afterwards! lol. I do believe that everyone is different and will experience pain differently so I'm trying not to read too much into others pain and recovery. Simply because mine may not be like their's.
  10. I'm getting mine done April 8th, start my pre-opt diet Monday! I'm nervous, excited and scared all in one! Of course I am scared of the surgery and the fear I won't wake up (sure it's natural to feel that way), and scared and nervous of the pain. Scared and nervous that I'll have complications, and excited because if all those things I fear doesn't happen, I'll have a new life! I'm keeping my mind on the "I'm getting a new life" lol. .
  11. So tonight is suppose to be my "Last Supper" or funeral meal and the more I sit here and think about it, the more guilty I feel. I have worked so hard for the past 3 months to lose 60 lbs which I did, I actually lost 63 lbs I had to for them to schedule my surgery. I will be on a 4 week pre-opt diet starting Sunday. I have actually gained about 2 lbs since they scheduled me for surgery, and I HAVE to lose 15 more lbs before I can have surgery. I do not know what they will do if I get there and I didn't lose a total of 75 lbs. If they will tell me no, and make me leave, or go ahead with it. Anyway, I plan on having pizza tonight (which is my fav). I don't plan on over eating, I'm actually planning on eating it on a salad plate so I can't get as much pizza on the plate as a big one. Because I don't want to over do it. But I can't help but feel guilty, and worried. I did eat out two times after my last Dr. appt. Bob Evans and Texas Steakhouse. LIke I said I gained 2 lbs..or maybe 3. Hopefully this won't cause me any problems! I'm sure a lot of people did the "food funeral" or last supper and lost just fine right?
  12. Thought I would update. Surgery is set for April 8th one month from today. I start my pre-opt diet Sunday. I have to do 4 weeks. I also have to lose 20 lbs. I'm worried I won't. That's 5 lbs a week. I've been on the 2 and 3 diet for 3 months lost 60 lbs. I'm hoping I will lose this next 20. Sent from my KFOT using VST
  13. YAY to everyone and their surgeries!! I hope everyone is doing great!!! I am having surgery April 8th at JourneyLite with of course Dr. Curry. I am excited and scared in one. I'm also worried my mom is going to have a major break down before this is over due to worrying about me. Iol. I just had my NUT class etc etc. Yesterday and got my food for my 4 week diet. I'm shocked at what I can eat. How much did you girls lose on your pre-opt diet? I have to lose 20 pounds before the 8th. I hope I can do it. Sent from my KFOT using VST
  14. April 8th here!!!! I'm 5'4 and started out at 422 I have lost 60 lbs. I start a 4 week diet on Monday and was told I would lose a lot more!!! Oh and I'm 32. Sent from my KFOT using VST
  15. I am self pay and my surgeon would not schedule my surgery without a complete physical and referral from my primary doctor. She was more than happy to refer me. I actually discussed the surgery with her before I ever met with my surgeon for my first consultation. Hopefully your doc will be as supporting as mine! Sent from my KFOT using VST
  16. I will email you the info tomorrow when I'm on my computer!!! Sent from my KFOT using VST
  17. It seems like everyone diets from length to what they eat or drink is a little different. As is their loss. I have a cousin who went to the same surgeon I am going to. They put her on a 3 week diet but after 2 weeks they moved up her surgery. She lost 25 lbs in those two weeks! If I lose like her which I doubt I will, that would be 50 pounds in 4 weeks. In that case meeting my 15 more lbs to lose won't be hard to reach lol. Sent from my KFOT using VST
  18. So you are ended up only having to do two weeks, or they added two weeks making it five weeks? I think 25 lbs is great! And unless they do an ultrasound they won't know how big your liver is until they cut you open. Sent from my KFOT using VST
  19. That is really neat. Sent from my KFOT using VST
  20. I do I do!! I really want to see mine when I have surgery! lol. I've watched a few surgeries on YouTube. lol
  21. My date is April 8th too! I have been on a 2 and 3 diet since Nov. 7. I have been eating three Snacks a day (shake, Protein bar, shake) everyday since then, at the same time every day (8 am, 10 am, and 3 pm). I have either chicken and green Beans, chicken spinach salad, or chicken/tuna in a lettuce wrap for lunch, and either chicken and broccoli, shrimp and broccoli, or scrambled eggs and turkey sausage for supper. I've been eating this way since Nov. So since I had lost the 60 lbs I was suppose to, to schedule for surgery I have been a little bad. I start my diet next Monday the 8th. I have to be on a 4 week diet. After my NUT appt. on Thursday I went to Bob Evans and had a chicken tender meal and had it fried, with broccoli and onion dippers. I was not able to eat it all. But it tasted so good. Then last night I went to Texas Steakhouse for my dad's birthday. I have never been there. I had rolls. I haven't eaten bread in almost 3 months and before then I wasn't eating it much anyway. I had some of the blooming onion (they have a different name for it though), and I have a Ceaser chicken salad which was awesome. I also dipped one of the rolls in applesauce (I'm not suppose to have fruit). I will remain on my bland diet until after Thursday, that's my last NUT class, and three days before my liquid diet. Next Friday I am going to eat pizza, and I'm going to eat Breakfast which is my favorite and I haven't had in a while. I might eat "normal" that entire weekend. Meaning three meals a day, with no shakes, or snack bars! I figure I will be eating less than I did before so it would be OK. I might start with three actual meals a day on Friday! I promise you though, I will probably feel guilty because I have been very faithful to this diet for so long. And I don't think I'm going to eat bread, or stray much from the chicken, and veggies, other than the pizza. Crazy as this sounds what I have been craving the most these past months are veggies. Cauliflower, and tomatoes the most. I want to eat carrots lol. I plan on having a huge salad with topped with veggies! lol.
  22. Has anyone have to do a four week pre-opt diet? If so how much did you loose? Actually if you read this and had a 2 week diet how much did you lose? Sent from my KFOT using VST
