  1. Hiccups tell me that my sleeve is full. It how I know not to over eat my sleeve and feel crappy. Once a hiccup comes during a meal I am done. Just to give you a mental picture. There is a point in your esophagus that it kinda splits off. The esophagus goes to the stomach and the trachea goes to the lungs. There is a little flap over the top of the trachea that prevents food from going into the lungs. When something gets stuck on the top of the flap your body hiccups to get it off the flap so you can breathe normally again. Think of it as air pushing up the lid so it can open. When my sleeve is full it backs up into my esophagus and hinders the trachea until my sleeve digests some of the food below it. Kinda weird but hey at least I have a clue now. My stomach was never full with clues before VSG!
  2. Hello There! I am on the move and while I am not down to 16-18 yet I am looking for jeans, dress pants and dress shirts. I will happily pay for shipping. Do you have some pictures? I am 5'9 so I would need average or tall pants. Thank you for your time Brook

  4. I have to crush mine and put into a protein shake...
  5. Just watch the air intake...the only time I use one is protein shakes. Bit other than protein shakes I only drink bottled water so I guess that's moot. Lol
  6. I'm a huge fan of the smoothie king gladiator mix. Vanilla, chocolate and strawberry is available. 45 grams of protein to 2 carbs. Amazing!
  7. My doc advanced me to smooshies at my one week follow up. I was on solid foods at week 3.5, mostly fish and seafood products. Granted they are well chewed and artfully chosen. I have not had trouble with anything new. I had 2 ribs one night in week 4 and they went down heavy so I will postpone those for awhile. Everyone is different. Find your tell and then plan on under eating.
  8. Yup. Just watch the Carb count!
  9. My chewable vvitamins can be crushed or chewed... I tried chewing them and up they came.. crushed and put in my protein shake and it works perfectly!
  10. The carbs were a bit high but I tried my samples anyway. They seemed to be packed with flavor. The strawberry was decent but the others were too much for me. If u have a smoothie king around u try a gladiator... if not check out my blog if u want to try them.
  11. Welcome heather! I can't wait to plan a meet and grwere with all the Florida sleevers. if you have any questions or concerns please ask we are all here to support one another.
  12. My surgeon does a leak test before they finish the surgery. This is my stomach filled with gas to see of there are any leaks. You have to remember that when chewed food gets to your stomach its like mush and it can pack in there. Post surgery I don't know how 2oz can fit in my stomach that is the size of a straw. In and out of surgery with no leaks and no drain in 42 minutes... kuddos to Dr pleatman!
  13. I have a desk job and was back on day 9. It took me until week 3 to get back into the gym, but I was walking some everyday. Compression garment on my stomach helped a lot. As for being tired i was always tired before surgery, but unlike before exercise in the morning gives me energy. Get your water in. Good luck with your decision!
  14. My surgeon in Michigan was 11,000 for everything including the 2 year program...my pcp did my preop and it was covered... my surgery was not covered.
  15. Is your body telling you to stop? I hiccup when I'm full. Listen to ur body. If that doesn't work u may have to count your calories.
  16. Click my blog link below...if u go back a few entries u will get to see a pic of my stomach. Have fun!
  17. At least u lost band size first! I'm 5 weeks and have gone from 46ddd to a 46c this week. So hopefully my breasts are done shrinking time to start losing band size 36 here I come.
  18. I got a lot of bleeding after surgery. My surgeon said it's the standard transfer from surgery. It lasted a good week. If it goes on for longer than normal call your gyn and ask the question. Good luck!
  19. I am 4 weeks out and just used my card for the first time. My surgeon gave it to me at my preop apt. I have friends in town and I wanted to take them to this killer seafood buffet. I asked for a manager to see what my option was, the server asked if I had my card. I gave it to him and he charged me as a child. I don't have a problem telling people...most of the time they are interested in my progress. When I go to a restaurant I will usually order a plated meal but it was a godsend when an adult buffet is $40 and a child is $12.
  20. Call the travel agent and let them know u have dietary restrictions... restaurants will make concessions for u...no sense depriving ur family. Just have them bring u a plate and ur family can each give u a bite and u will be set!
  21. Hey everyone! I have been on this site a few months and have noticed a lot of people that hate their Protein shakes. I have tried powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and Chike and they are both too flavorful for me... By that I mean they are over compensating for what they lack. I do use the unjury unflavored to up the protein on Soup and stuff, but if a recipe calls for flavors it's Gladiator all the way. If you have seen my posts I am swearing by the Gladiator Protein powder from smoothie King. I know that Smoothie King franchises are limited, but because I love it so much I am going to work with my local Smoothie King and become a self prescribed distributor exclusively for this site and friends of my blog. They are changing out the packaging right now and will be replenishing the stores next week 9/6/11. Each container is 20 full servings (45 grams of protein). Being just a month out of surgery I do half servings which makes a container last me a month (40 servings of 22.5 g of protein). I will know for sure next week what the shipped cost will be, but I anticipate it being between $50-$60 depending on the shipping cost. What I will do is send a serving sample (2 oz) to those of you that are interested, just help me cover the cost at $3 for 1 or $4 for two. I will have vanilla and chocolate samples. For now if you would be interested in the strawberry I can purchase it in a sample, but I'm not sure what the cost would be since I have not purchased the full container. Once I figure out the logistics I will add a paypal button to my blog to order and get back to everyone that is interested. I have posted the nutritional information below. Please email, PM or post on my blog so I can contact you with more details. I look forward to helping those who hate Protein Shakes Gladiator® Working out or playing hard? 22. Think about your swollen stomach as a funnel. If your sip is too big it has to sit there and drip into your stomach. Once the swelling goes down it will move faster. Make sure you are up walking to get the surgery gas out as well. It's part of the process and it doesn't last more than a week or two.
  23. I went to Michigan for surgery with Dr. Pleatmen. It was $11,000 and my preop testing was covered in my PCP office with my insurance. My parents were skeptical about Mexico and FL was way out of my budget. I had a great experience. Feel free to read about it in my blog linked below. Good luck... alot of us have had to deal with the dreaded exclusion.
  24. My Max was a month when dieting. Then I was so hungry I can't even be sure they were right choices. The only problem I had restricting myself was hunger. I have been sleeved for a month with no complications. My hunger is gone so I can make good choices. The question to u is... why do u eat what you eat? The sleeve takes the physical hunger away, but u have to make the good food choices so u can make it in the long run. Good luck and I hope we see u around the blog!
  25. That's the best part. Tell them u can't swallow pills yet and the y will inject u. Saves u from taking horse pills for 10 days.
