Please HELP!

I have BCBS of Nebraska, they will only cover $10,000. This amount only includes the surgery, and hospital stay. Pretty much anything that happens the day of, and anything else that happens while in the hospital. So of course, I have to pay all follow ups, all pre surgeon visits, all testing, complications, etc. I'm wondering if anyone knows low cost places, because I'm not completely self pay. I would prefer not to go to Mexico, i'm so happy for those who have and had successful results... I'm just not able to. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

My surgeon in Michigan was 11,000 for everything including the 2 year program...my pcp did my preop and it was covered... my surgery was not covered.

I have Empire BCBS. When I had the EGD Memorial Hermann called and said that I had to pay a co-pay of $122.00. Well, for some reason a month ago, I received a refund in the mail.

Believe it or not, my only co-pay at the time of surgery for my doctor. I expect to get a bill from the anesthesiologist, I haven't heard from the hopsital yet.

I wish you all the best.

Once you have a clear understanding with your insurance about what is covered and what isn't, and a list of approved surgeons - set up visits with a couple of the surgeons and negotiate what you could get for the amount of coverage your insurance would pay. In other words, negotiate! It might seem odd - to negotiate for something like surgery - but WLS is a competitive market right now. I wouldn't consider doing this with surgeons I didn't think were top-notch - don't go to a newbie who is learning the procedure - hoping for a good deal. You will never know if you could have gotten a better deal for your surgery unless you ask. (I am one of those sick folks who actually enjoy negotiating when I buy cars). :P

Good luck!

Dr. Zapata in Monterrey Mexico did an outstanding job. I have lost a total of 110lbs and My sleve feels great. 10k will cover everything including a plane ticket. You will be in a safe hotel, Four Points Sheraton. Drivers who escort you everywhere and The cleanest hospitalI have ever seen. The steam clean the sidewalks.
