    quitting!

Congrats to all of you who have stoped smoking, its a hard thing to do as I smoked for 23 yrs. ashame to admit to it but I did. I wanted to quit so many times before I finally gave it up but it was always the throuh of weight gain that kept me smoking, but one day I just decided on my last day of smoking and when it came I make that commitment and have not been sorry that was 6yrs ago and many lbs in weight gain but I now feel must better and have lost the cough and the control that smoking had over me and with the band the 40lbs I have lost to date have made up for the weight I gained after stopping. Good luck to all of you Angelina
  3. Hi to all, Its been awhile since I last posted to the board, but I'm back. I've been trying to adjust to being a bandster I was band on 11/18/03, I'm still growing with my band and what it is that I need to do in order to lose the weight. So far I have lost 40lbs and thats been with out a fill I just received my first fill on 3/2/04. I was unable to receive a fill because I had problems with my Port which was replace on 3/2, my port had become dislocated and flip and no adjustments could be make so I had to have surgery to repair it and it was decided that I need a new one. My fill was only 1/2cc and I can tell that I have one because its like learning all over again to eat and drink and I have PBed a few times because I ate to fast but this is a learning process. I'm looking forward to losing more weight an I'm happy about the 40lbs weight lost even through there were times that I was beating myself up and feeling I should have lost more then I have. Its Been Awhile!!

THANKS TO ALL FOR REPLYING TO MY POST, IT ALWAYS FEEL GOOD TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE OTHERS OUT THERE WITH A SHARED GOAL (TO LOSE WEIGHT AND FEEL BETTER.) AS FOR THE PORT REPLACEMENT I FOUND OUT DOING A DR. VISIT TO HAVE A FILL THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM THE DR. COULD NOT FIND THE PORT OPENING AFTER SOME SEARCHING AND A LOT OF DISCOMFER SO IT WAS DECIDED THAT I WOULD HAVE A FLOSCOP ( I THINK THATS WHAT ITS CALLED) AT THE HOSPITAL WERE AFTER SOMETIME TRYING IT WAS FOUNDED THAT AN ADJUSTMENT COULD'NT BE MAKE BECAUSE MY PORT HAD DETACHED AND FLIPED. GENERAL ANSTI. ONE DAY AND THE PAIN FROM THIS SURGERY IS VERY PAINFUL MORE SO THEN HAVING THE BAND PLACED I DONT KNOW WHY BUT IT HURT TO SIT OR LAYDOWN. I DID HAVE SOME PAIN IN THE PORT AREA BEFORE IT WAS DISCOVERY THAT I COULD NOT GET A FILL AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NORMAL IT WAS NOT A BAD PAIN JUST AN I KNOW YOUR THERE PAIN I THRO- IT WAS JUST MY PORT LETTING ME KNOW IT WAS THERE, BUT IT DID GET WORSE AS I GOT CLOSER TO HAVING IT REPAIRED. TO ALL READER PLEASE FOR GIVE THE MISSPELLINGS , I'M A NIGHT WORKER AND JUST TO LAZY TO TAKE THE TIME TO CORRECT THEM TRYING TO GET BACK TO BED TO GET MY NAP BEFORE GOING IN AND HOPING I HAVE A BETTER NIGHT THEN LAST NIGHT I HAVE USED ALL OF MY SICK TIME TO I'M FORCED TO GO IN EVEN THRO- I WAS OFF FOR 4 DAYS AFTER SURGERY.
  5. Hi Carman, I kind of know how you are feeling I had my port replaced Tuesday 3/2 and I'm still in a lot of pain. I think this is worse then the surgery of having the band placed it self. I also had a fill done at the same time so I'm adjusting to the fill and the pain at the same time I also had to cough a few times and all I could do was call on God Anyway I hope you feel better I'am trying I go back to work to night and hope I can last all night. Take care Angelina

    my band was removed !!

Michelle, Thank you for the leg work as far as looking up all the information and posting it. I think that a lot of the information that people are seeing out on the web is old infor and being misunderstood. Also I am sorry that a lot of people are having problems with there bands and I wish them all the best. Some of these incidents are scary and its good that we know of them, but because its not working for others I think its used to freighten or scare those that the band seem to be working for or those that are just starting out with the band.

    I am a bandster now!

Good Morning Zhanna, I did have the puree soup for dinner a cup of chicken veg. Which was good puree with Both added, but then I really had a pain or pinch or something, it seems at the base of my thoath I don't know if I over did it with the soup are what, but it was that feeling that I had on the day after surgery and the Dr. said it was because my thoath was sore from were they had put in tools to look in the thoath doing surgery. Any way I think I will stay with the liquids until I see the Dr. on Tuesday.

Hi Bagger, So the problems is mostly that you are over eating and not eating the right kinds of food so that you might be able to shed more weight then you have. didn't your Dr. give you some kind of guideline on what you could and could not eat in order to lose weight. My fears are that once I am banded that I to might have the same problems of not losing weight because I am not eating correctly, or because I feel that I can still eat the same amount of food that I did before. I also feel that I will eat the first thing thats in front of me because it convenent instead of making sure its the right type of food. But I must say that I have learned a little something here Good Luck on your trip back to see your Dr. I hope things soon work out for you.

Hi Sue, I understand that these surgeries are tools and must be use correctly, What I don't understand is how can you only be 10 lbs lighter after 8 months if you are using your band as a tool with better eating habits. also I am new to all of this and full of questions. also I have friends that all had lap RNY surgeries and lost the weight very fast and I quess you can say after making my choice to get the band and knowing that the weight lost is slower thats I envey the quickness of there weight loss and thats why I was having second throughs about the band. But I do thank that I have made the right choice or shall I say a healthier choice, all the cutting and relocating that the other surgeries required was not for me. I do thank you for responding to my question I love this forum and think that it will come in very handy after I am banded.

Why have you only lost 10lbs in 8 month, are you not able to eat as much as before the surgery, and if you eat less there must be a weight loss of more then 10lbs in 8 months. have you not had fills. I ask these questions because I have not been banded as of yet but I do have a date for surgery on 11/18. stories let yours make me wish I had chosen a different surgery. I do hope that things will get better for you and you begin to lose.:think
  24. Hi Robert, 52 lbs is a lot to loose in 1 month. I am to be banded on11/18/03 and I was having second throughts about the band and If it would take a long time to get the weight off, if I lost 52 lbs in one month I would be flying. Any way keep up the good work and good luck with your weight lost.

Sorry, I just have to vent

Keep the faith that all this will pass, all the tests the waiting the Dr. visits and then some more waiting. You will soon hear those words that seem so golden. I too felt the same as you do, but yesterday after what seem like the longest 5 1/2 months I did get that call from my Dr. office and it felt great to hear them so keep the faith. ( I have a date for Nov.18 2003)
