Well I am finally getting sleeved tomorrow, after 3 more months than I thought. I am so excited and scared at the same time.... Reading everyone else's amazing stories has kept me going and I am so thrilled to finally be joining you all!! Keep me in your thoughts tomorrow!!

I'm on the 28th too!!! Getting nervous now, but still excited, trying to get all my supplies in order... Best of luck to you!!

Well it has only taken 3 months longer than it should have, but I finally got my insurance switched over and called the surgeons office and was put on the schedule!!! January 28th is the day!!! I am so excited!! The office will still have to re submit all the paperwork to the new insurance after the first of the year, but unlike MVP, blue choice actually covers the sleeve so everything should be fine! It feels like a dream, I am so grateful this is finally happening, and I can't wait to change my life and join all you post op folks on the losers bench!!!!!!

Hi! So I was denied for the sleeve by my insurance MVP because they do not view it as medically necessary but they will cover the band or bypass... I have mailed in my appeal letter and any prayers and good thoughts you guys can send my way would be much appreciated!!! Keeping my fingers and toes crossed!!!

My surgeon is calling the medical director at MVP to see if they can change their mind, but I am really bummed! Roux-n-y is not an option for me! This is stupid, insurance companies should not be able to deny what your doctor requests!! Appealing is just going to push my surgery back even longer! (

I finally got a call back from my insurance company today after waiting for 2 weeks and it is to tell me that they are denying my request because they need proof that I would not be a candidate for gastric bypass before they will cover the sleeve! Is this crazy or is it just me??

That is awesome!! Our starting weights are the same, I am still preop just waiting on my insurance approval... It gives me hope to see it can be done !

The trick is definitely to rinse them very very well! I had read about the smell before hand and didn't take it seriously... Until I opened the first package! But once they are rinsed they are ok... I will have to try the boiling thing!

Hi, just a quick update! I finally saw dr omalley yesterday for my consult and they are submitting to my insurance next week!!!! I am thrilled but also felt my anxiety kick in once I had to read and sign all those liability forms making sure you know all about every possible complication. I guess things just got very real for me. I have MVP which of course is the last insurance in the Rochester ny area that does not cover the sleeve!! Even Medicare covers it now, this is just crazy, so hopefully they can be persuaded!!! I am now very nervous and all that's left to do right now is wait.

So glad to hear you are doing well!! I am still plugging away, 3rd and hopefully final nut visit is in September and then hopefully I can meet with the surgeon and get submitted to insurance! So excited! It gives me hope everything will work out ok!

Just an update!! I just got back from my follow up and I do not have sleep apnea!!!!! I am so thankful for that!! And shocked that I actually slept a little over 6 hours I did not think I even got close to that! I do have periodic leg movements that wake me up quite a bit but she said that is common for someone who has had knee surgery as I have. She said once I reach my goal weight if it is still happening they ban give me meds to help! I also am not spending much time in REM sleep so that us why I am so tired, but I am just do happy that I don't have apnea! I think I did a little happy dance!!

I'm from Rochester ! Hi back at ya! I am pre op, haven't gotten my date yet, working on all my testing

Everything seemed to go ok but I got like no sleep at all... I came right home and went back to bed for a few hours! They didn't say they had to reschedule me or anything so hopefully they got the info that they needed. This was my first sleep study and I an sincerely hoping that I don't have sleep apnea! I won't find anything out for 10 days when I have my follow up appt... I hate all this waiting, makes me crazy!

Am here and all wired up, this has got to be the wierdest thing I have ever done! The room is nice an the bed is comfy so that is a plus. I hope I can sleep, it is lights out pretty soon! Cross your fingers for me

I'm 27, but I was 26 when I started all this! Holding on to my 20's for dear life. ;o) I wanted to start actually living my life before I hit the big 3-0! I have my sleep study on Saturday and then 2 more visits with the NUT and they should be able to submit to my insurance! I can't wait!

Hey all!! I have been working hard on my prerequisites for surgery and my preop diet and the next thing coming up is my sleep study and I am getting a little nervous about it. I tend to have a hard time sleeping in unfamiliar places so I am not sure how this is going to go... Keeping my fingers crossed that 1) I can actually sleep and 2) that I DO NOT have sleep apnea. Study is on 8/4 and then I have a follow up for that, one more meeting with the psych ( she was concerned I was being to hard on myself) and then 2 more visits with the NUT and then they should be able to submit to insurance!! Hopefully I can lose these lbs required by MVP so I don't delay anything!! Can't wait to be on the loser's bench!!
