Summer & Are You Thinking About Having Wls
Suzanne! What a great and inspirational story! 4 years post op!!! That is the topic that's been on my mind a lot lately, that is; will this STILL work in a year? two? or even four? Thanks for reading my mind! Congratulations to you and your success!

Weight Loss Simulator
Ha! That's fun. I put in my starting weight then my goal weight. Cool toy - Then I noticed that the girl representing my starting weight doesn't have her thighs touching - LOL - mine definitely did at my starting weight! LOL! Thanks for sharing!

Cooking Smaller Amounts..?
I still cook in the same quantities, but use my food saver and freeze the finished meals. It's awesome for my husband who works ridiculous hours and I know he can have a good meal even if I'm just in the mood for a deli-meat & cheese roll and some cottage cheese. Cool Mason Jar tip!

Almost 2 Weeks Out.
It REALLY varies from person to person. You are doing FANTASTIC! If you want to know how you are doing, weigh it against yourself (it will help you remain sane). Always figure out how many pounds you've lost divided by the number of weeks that it took you to lose them. Medically speaking 1/2-2 pounds per week is spot-on. If you beat that due to this surgery - rejoice! If you make it - rejoice! And when you stall for a week (or two or three) - rejoice (knowing for once it doesn't mean you failed and will "quit" this diet - it will be short lived). Welcome to the loser's bench and keep up the great work!

I Have Reached The Stage Where People Don't Recognize Me!
Jane, I love this story! I have the same thing going on and I chopped my hair SUPER short so people are really shocked when they see me - IF - they don't walk past me - LOL! Funny for me, is I don't know what looks so different until I see myself in a picture. Now that I'm thinking that (as I'm typing) I think that's how it was when I was heavy too. I mean, I knew I was overweight, but the mirror made me think it wasn't so horrible; it was the PICTURES that couldn't lie! Good for you to have a body that can now keep up with your head, heart and soul!!

Disappointing Denial
I hope this works out for you! I would think that you either qualify for "bariatric" surgery or not! I can't believe (....oh but I should...) that the insurance companies are going to get involved to the level of telling patients WHICH bariatric surgery to have! Grrrr. I'll pray for your appeal! And if you get denied again....appeal AGAIN! GOOD LUCK!

July 4Th Challenge
- People Sleeved Around 03/22
Sleeved 3/27 with a dream goal to lose about 80-90 pounds but will be ok with 70-75. . So far I've lost 50-52 pounds. I walked regularly, right after surgery. Started biking by week two building from 5 mile rides to 25 mile rides in about 2 weeks time. Started the Couch to 5K running program at 6 weeks post op and joined a gym about 3 weeks ago. I now alternate between biking, running (end of 5th week of 9 week program) and I work out - step classes, Zumba, cardio/strength classes and yoga about 4-5 times per week. Tomorrow I meet with an exercise physiologist to work out a strength and toning plan for me to follow. for the rest of the summer. I could not do any of this except for walking and bike riding pre surgery! I love my new life!- July 4Th Challenge
What's wrong? Ill as in sleeve complication or is it unrelated? Hope you get home and feeling better soon!- Nsv-- Wedding Ring Resized
Is almost time for me to get mine resized, too. I think I'm going to do like someone else said and put it up until I reach goal so I only have to do it once. Congrats on your NSV!!- Panties, Glorious Panties...
Too funny! This Thread makes me laugh. I can't believe I keep commenting on it, but it's so funny to me! I actually like how the boy shorts fit in the front, but I must have too much butt in the rear to keep them from creeping!! LOL- Being Treated Different By Strangers
Very well put! I was told the other day that I "glowed." That was a great compliment, since before losing my 50 pounds I didn't even want to look people in the eye! Enjoy it!- Prescribed Phentermine? Stool Samples?
Yup! I did the Phen fen plan too. LOVED IT! The only time in my life (pre-sleeve) I felt control over my food decisions-lost every ounce of my excess weight. But never dealt with the habits or head issues! Pre-surgery, I used Phentermine on and off for about 2 years. For me, I was symptom free (no woozies or tinglings) within about a week of taking the med. But I didn't take any other meds and had NO heart of BP issues, at all. Good luck with your surgery - you'll do great!- Ugh Really World? Now Is Not The Time!
Man, that does really suck (pardon my french). But... What would it look like if we put a positive spin on it?? I SERIOUSLY PRAY that your mom gets her new heart and has no complications! After you have your surgery and rock your sleeve, here is what you can do: 1 - know that you would have paid double to get this life altering surgery. 2 - get a kick-a$$ job with your rockin' new look 3 - send pics to your lousy cheating "love of your life" (sorry if you plan to take him back but you shouldn't you deserve better!!!!!!!!) and show him what he's missing out on 4 - spend the better part of some night with a knight in shining armor that won't cheat on you - without taking a cigarette break! 5 - get healthy and walk and exercise and be with your mom for many happy and healthy years to come! I don't mean this disrespectfully in any way. I know life doles out lemons sometimes in huge quantities. Hang in there, it will all be worth it. YOU are worth it!- Honey
There are 64 calories in 1 tablespoon of honey. Honey is still sugar but it is naturally occurring, making it better for you and your body. In limited quantities, honey is better for you than sugar but should be used sparingly.- Swimsuit Comparison Pics! Brave, I Know!
Wow, wow, wow! I appreciate how brave you are for posting your pictures - but it must come easier when you look SO AMAZING! I bet whats better is how you FEEL! CONGRATULATIONS! Thanks for always being so inspiring!- Help!
So sorry you are going through this! I'd like to think if the Zofran doesn't settle things down for you and get you past needing it, they will investigate further, get to the bottom of what's really going on and get you healed! I pray you get the relief you need soon!- Panties, Glorious Panties...
Ok. Had to buy new ones again yesterday. Got the "boy shorts" kind. I think that's what they are called. Anyway, spent 2 hours at the gym pulling them out of my hiney! 8 more bucks in the trash. Seriously hate the underwear buying part of all of this! LOL- My First Nsv!
What a great one! And so many more to come!!- The Scale Won't Budge. Stall Help Please..
You're not done. You've lost 65 pounds in like two months, yes? Give your body a break. It has to stop, think, adjust. During stalls you may notice inch losses instead of scale losses. Stay away from the scale for a week or so and just do what you know and feel is right according to your doc and NUT. People try all kinds of things to "break" a stall, but the truth is, when your body is ready you'll start losing again. Things people try: up Protein, up carbs, up calories, up cardio exercise, up strength training, up Water intake. Of all of these things the thing you can most easily do is relax, breath and let your body continue to heal, get in touch with the you that is now 65 pounds less and rejoice when the numbers start to move again. Focus on what you can do now (Make a physical list) that you couldn't do with 65 additional pounds on your body! Congratulations on your loss! It'll keep coming! :-D- I'm A Triathlete!
WOW! Congratulations on your accomplishment! I'm in awe - truly.- Bummed Beond Beleif . . .
No such thing. I'm not able to have children either, and our family is our family. Allow yourself to go through all phases of grief (more than once if/when necessary). Lean on your wife when you can. On some level she must have thought she was protecting you. Remember them happy and healthy!! They are no longer in ANY pain. If we wish anything for family members it is that they know no pain. Know that your VSG family is here to support you too. Empathic Hugs!!- Best Decision I Have Ever Made
Hi Christy, I love your story - at least how it ends, right? Welcome to the forum and to the new you. I know you and your family will love your new found energy and lease on life! - People Sleeved Around 03/22
