  1. Hi Sarah, I just wanted to let you know that I was in Mexico for my surgery on Jan 9 2012. I am also Canadian, (just across the Water from you), and I was very nervous as I had never even gone to a restaurant alone!! let alone travel to another country. I had my surgery performed by Dr. Kelly, and I could not be happier. He is very experienced. He has been doing the sleeve operation a lot longer than most of the other doctors that you could choose from. He is running his own booking service now, which is better for his patients. He offers the same service as all the other coordinators, but you have a direct line to him and his services. The hospital that he uses is top notch, the staff speak english, and the rocovery hotel is 5 star. I had to go alone, and in the end I was glad that I did. The last thing I wanted to do, was have to worry about my companion being bored. I flew down to San Diego on a Sunday, got picked up and taken to the hotel, Monday morning I was taken to the hospital, had all the pre-op tests done, and then I was in for my surgery by 11am. Phoned home that evening to let my husband know everything went well. I was not sick, sore, burpy or any of the other complaints that I have been hearing about from other people. In fact the 2 other Dr. Kelly patients on my floor felt really good too. I can't say the same for the patients of the other doctor. After the leak test on Wednesday morning I was taken back to the hotel to stay until I was to catch my return flight home in a couple of days. Dr. Kelly even came to the hotel just to check on me and have a visit. You would never get that kind of treatment in any Canadaian or U.S. hospital. Pack light, you really don't need anything more than pj's and casual clothes. A laptop came in very handy, as you have wi-fi in the hotel and the hospital. I brought my Good luck! lIphone too, so I could "face chat" with my husband. (just remember to get an international plan for the thime you are there) Doctor information you might want : Dr. Ramos-Kelly jrkelly45@hotmail.com Office Phone: 619-793-4869 web site: www.wlsclinic.com I hope this has helped you with your questions. If you want to ask me anything, you can email me at lightburn@shaw.ca

    Recent Dr. Kelly Patients

I had my surgery with Dr. Kelly on January 9th 2012. I went through A Lighter Me, and let me tell you , what they offer is not what you get! I told them that I would be travelling alone and I was very nervous as I had never done anything alone before. They assured me that I wuld be taken care of from the time I got off the plane until I got back on it to go home. I was told that I would be picked up at the San Diego Airport by their driver Hector, no one was there when I arrived. Luckily I had Hector's cell number and when I called a lady answered and told me that she was outside in her vehicle waiting for me!!! She was Hectors niece, and she said her uncle was busy so she came to pick me up. I really don't know what I would have done if I did not have that phone number. I was taken across the border to a Casino/Hotel (was supposed to be a 5 star, but clearly it was not) . They gave me a room on the first floor which opened up to a very noisy Casino floor. The noise was so bad, right until 5AM. That next morning I was taken to the hospital for my surgery. It was not a real hospital like the ones in Canada, but the staff were very attentive and helpful. Thank goodness for Google Translator on my laptop as the staff ,except for the cleaning man, could not speak English. There were about 6 patients on the floor, 3 with Dr. Kelly and 3 with Dr. Garcia. Dr. Kellys patients were not vomitting and we all seemed to be recovering at a very fast pace compared to the continuous vomitting and ill feeling of the other 3 on the floor. Dr. Garcia is relatively new at this surgery compared to the thousands of surgeries of this type that Dr. Kelly has performed. When I spoke to Dr. Kelly about the hotel that I was put in, he , himself, arranged to have me go to a different hotel, (5 star this time), for my last few days of my recovery. He even came to the hotel to check on me and for a visit. (on his day off!) He even offered to take me shopping, as I was too nervous to go alone. A Lighter Me said I would have a advocate in Mexico to take me shopping, or anything else that I would need. Not at any time was there an advocate to help me. They also say that if you are travelling with a companion, that the companion will have a bed to stay in at the hospital. This is also untrue. For the people who did come with a companion, they ended up sleeping on a chair in the room. I would definitely chose Dr. Kelly for the Sleeve surgery. Now that he is not going through the "co-ordinators" any more , and running this service himself, I know that your sugery experience with him would be wonderful. He also gave me his email address, his personal cell number and his office cell number. He even has his own web site now, www.wlsclinic.com , take a look and see the difference in what he offers and what A Lighter Me offers as far as hospital and hotel accomadations. I hope this has helped if you had any questions.
  3. Hi Everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I had Dr. Kelly do my sleeve surgery Jan. 9th, and I had NO problems. He is a very caring and attentive surgeon. I would recommend him to any one thinking about getting sleeved. There were 6 of us on the same day, getting surgery, 3 with Dr. Kelly and the others with Dr. Garcia. Dr. Garcia's patients were all throwing up all the first night, and they looked terrible. One woman said that she thought she was going to die from the amount of times she was sick. I was so glad I went with Dr. Kelly instead of anyone else.
