  1. I'm at six hundred to eight hundred. I'm going to call the nutritionist to see what I should be aiming for. My nutrition guidelines say this is the hardest week. In terms of hunger, I'm actually having to make myself drink more than I really want to consume. It is very weird to try and have more calories.
  2. Anyone else have a persistent headache post surgery? I'm three days post surgery, some incision pain and very mild gas pain. My headache keeps coming back. I've had one cop of coffee a day, to to have caffeine withdrawal, and have had at least 60 ounces of Water. I've not been hungry so have had 600-800 calories per day. Any suggestions? I'll call the doctor's office later but just wanted to see if anyone had the same experience.
  3. My discharge nurse told me to avoid jello at first. She said it can expand in the esophagus or stomach and not feel so good. I've had one Protein shake and one cup of cream of tomato Soup today (and a lot of water) and I'm not at all hungry. It's weird, because I don't feel all that restricted while I drink, but feel very full when I'm done.
  4. I've started an October 2012 Bandsters thread in the post surgery forum. I'd love to keep in touch with you all.
  5. Hi everyone, I'm starting this because we are mid way through the month so I'm guessing about half of us have had the procedure done. The October Bandsters thread has been really great with all the positive comments, suggestions and support. It would be great to keep that community going. I'm two days post surgery. My pain meds are working fine. The surgery was easier than I expected and I hope the recovery keeps going as well. How is everyone?
  6. Wow, that really sucks. Is it at all possible to reschedule the work time off? Good luck to you.
  7. Same here. One week on diet, October 15 is my surgery date. Tomorrow I have to get clearence from my primary doctor and do a nuclear stress test to get cardiac clearence.
  8. I actually put on water weight the first few days. I took a few days of herbal diuretics and my scale shows I've lost five pounds in a week. Not the big losses that others have reported but it is nice to see the numbers go down instead of up. Do you feel bloated, or do you notice puffy ankles? Maybe the same water retention thing is happening.
  9. I'm glad you feel well. Thank you for coming to update us. Is your anti nausea medication over the counter or by prescription?
  10. Anyone else on a liquid diet retaining water? My ankles are swollen and I weigh more than I did last week. I low I have to do this diet for the surgery, but I was hoping to lose some major pounds also. This makes me frustrated and a little afraid that my body will not lose weight.
  11. Just got the call that my insurance approved the surgery!
  12. Ok, I know I can do this, I just feel so p'od at everyone. I'm so glad I'm on sabbatical right ow and serious kudos to everyone doing the diet, working, and not getting fired.
  13. First day of diet and I'm grump as hell! On what day does it get better?
  14. I'm doing the Pure Premium ready made shakes. I tried a variety of shakes and these pretty decent and available at Costco for a good price. I didn't like mixing the protein powder. I am allowed up to two cups of nonstarchy veggies and two tablespoons of nonfat dressing.
  15. It doesn't seem to matter how much you lose on the supervised diet. What matters is that you have the proof of the monthly visits and weigh ins. I don't think it's a good idea to gain weight, or not lose any weight at all. Also, as long as your BMI is in the range of 40+ or 35+ with other problems, I don't think they deny it. They have an insurance coordinator named Nilsa that probably could answer specific questions. She is super nice and has dealt with ALL the insurance companies and all their specific requirements.
  16. Good luck to those who have their surgeries tomorrow. I start the protein drinks tomorrow.
  17. October 15th for me too! Start me liquid diet on the first.
