  1. I had my surgery last Thursday and return to work this Monday. On Tuesday I felt amazing. Yesterday and today were okay, no pain meds but I still have been napping.
  2. I have a support group through my doctor's office, maybe ask him/her or your nut.
  3. Willosknot-I had a cold about a week before surgery and I was still congested the day of, that was one of the questions everyone asked. "Have you had a cold in the last ten days." I said I was congested. After surgery it felt so good because the congestion was gone, it reappeared a few days later though. phatdivabbw-That is one of my fears too. The first few days I probably only got down 1/4 of my liquids. By day 3 I was doing better, my nut said to do about 4oz a half an hour. With Protein Drinks that's really all I can do because they are so thick, sports drinks and Water sometimes go down faster.
  4. Suzcomptime how did u get a free bag of chewy bites? I just bought the BA caramel only 250 mg in one though.
  5. My shoulder was fine until right now.I just finished a protein drink and I feel full. Maybe this is my body's new way of telling me. It makes sense about nerve endings wheetsin. I was thinking about a "cold headache" and when that happens I feel a wave in my forehead and shoulder blades. Maybe due to those nerves, not sure but worth looking into I think.
  6. You look petite! Thanks for sharing!
  7. You look beautiful, thanks for posting and being an inspiration.
  8. Good luck to you. I drove my friend to Tijuana 4 years ago to get a band. I have watched her struggle since.
  9. Day 6 and I feel 1,000 times better! I drank 63 of 64 ounces of fluid yesterday and got in 60 of 90 grams of protein. By far, the best I've done. I got in all my vitamins and medication as well. I have to get up super early to start my first shake and vitamin, this is an all day process to give my body what it needs, but consider how I am feeling today it's totally worth every second. Who's surgery is next?
  10. Thanks ladies, I have been reading posts all morning. I found tons on the emotional issues. I have some pain on my left side and shoulder and I think I am freaking myself out. I just don't know what pain is normal and what's not. Well one of my friends just dropped off movies and magazines, so it's time to stop thinking about this for now.
  11. I'm trying to figure out what pain is normal and what is not. So I am 5 days post-op I didn't take any pain meds yesterday. This morning I took 2/3 of my pain prescription dose. If I take really big breaths my lower left side hurts, my left shoulder hurts a tad too. Yesterday the walking I did was at target, haha, but today I plan to go for a 20 min walk. My question is what pain is normal and what is not?
  12. I was just looking at the viactiv and the first ingredient is sugar! I do like the chewing, so I will probably enjoy them just for the next couple days until my bariatric advantage chewables come in. My nut said I can order those from the office and I don't have to pay shipping. So the calcium brand matters. I bought a vitafusion omega 3, vitamin d, and b12. Do these brands matter? I compared multivitamins from target to the ones from my nut and those had a huge difference. I figure I can deal with one chalky pill two times a day, but not more than that!
  13. Thanks atkinsoncl. This morning was rough though I woke up in pain and for some reason started crying. I'm still chugging, okay sipping, away and am almost done with my first protein drink today.
  14. Carnie is both a success story and warning story. I applaud her for going public with her weight struggles and being honest about both surgeries. Some people don't have weight problems and don't know the difficulty of weight problems, mental struggles, and surgeries, so I do appreciate her sharing. It makes me sad though that she has to have a second surgery. I have lost and gained weight so many times. I know my sleeve is just a tool and I have to do the rest, but one of my reasons for doing this was to get to my goal weight and not regain. This is all up to me though. Lisa's Hope-I think her surgeon does not undo her bypass. Her bypass pouch probably stretched so there is now enough room to make a new pouch with the lap band. I really hope this works for her.
  15. Are you all telling me to stop freaking out? Last night my shoulder started to hurt for the first time and it hurts now. It feels like I slept on it funny, but I sleep on my back so that's not true. I was reading on here about complications including leaks and many people had problems starting with pain in their left shoulder. Is this not a symptom?
  16. My doctor gave me tons of samples and even large bottles of bariatric advantage and celebrate. Since I have so many to take a day, there is no way I can handle the chalk taste. I'm going to order the calcium chewy bites from bariatric advantage. I went to target and got everything I need in gummy form. The brands are vitafusion. Some doses I have to double but it's still a vitamin. I also picked up viactiv for calcium. I know what my doctor recommends, but does the brand really matter? I can take all the gummies religiously I'm sure. The chalk ones, ugh yuck!
  17. The best creams I have heard of are Mary Kay, Nivea, and one that is sold at the mall. It's at department stores, a white bottle with red letters, sorry I can't remember the name. I did pick up a nivea firming creme at target today. It can't hurt.
  18. I am so thirsty, but I don't chug because I thought I couldn't. I am four days out. It is hard to get in all my fluid just sipping. mesaucedo-are you saying I can chug? I thougth I could only take about 4 oz at a time because that's what my nut said.

  20. 4 days out update. snoho1-I am trying to figure out if there is a pattern with the gurgles, but I seem to have it with everything. My carafate medicine, Vitamins, Water, Protein drinks, and the Soup I get to "eat". Some noises are louder than others, it hurts for a second and then I feel better after I gurgle. The gurgle does make me slow down. The gas pain is completely gone. Sometimes my incisions hurt just a tad. I do have a pain under my left breast though. It feels like I ran too much and need a break. I didn't take any pain meds today though sometimes I feel a little nauseas and did take my nausea medicine yesterday. daniellec-I am working on my plan. I am a teacher and right now I am on spring break, when I return to work next week I will be much more rigorous with my schedule. I am trying to figure out how to eat, stopping a half hour before and an hour and a half later, getting in all my vitamins, drinking 90-100 grams of protein, and 64 ounces of liquid. My first protein drink after surgery took two sips to fill me. I burped so I thought that was the singnal. My nutritionist said to sip protein, water, and repeat. Yet, I could barely get in 20 grams of protein and half my fluids. I read from a post on this blog I can drink 2-4oz every hour three days after surgery. 3 days to 3 weeks after surgery I can drink 4-6oz every hour. It is impossible to drink this slowly to get in all my protein and fluids. My nut said, "Everyone is different on this one. I want you sip on 4 ounces of Fluid every 30 minutes. If it's too fast then switch to every 45 minutes. Try sipping on 4 ounces of fluid (whether it be Protein Shake or water) until it's gone. What we don't want to happen is sip wait 10 minutes, sip wait 15 minutes etc. We don't want to "nurse" on the fluid. We want to sip sip sip until it' gone." I guess I was nursing the fluid and can speed up my intake. I'm just paranoid I am going to mess up my sleeve! Two things I didn't realize that I would like to share. Getting myself up was really difficult the first few days. Today it's been much easier. When I want to get up from sitting on the toilet, couch, or lying in bed, it takes a ton of effort. If a friend helps me, it's much easier;however, like I said today was the first day I can feel a huge difference. The other thing that's hard is deep breathing. I do have some breathing exercises to do daily because of this.
  21. Did u see the topic just for men? Maybe that's where they are. I appreciate your comments often though.
  22. I'm struggling with this as well. Windy city mom and vance have made some good points. It is perfectly acceptable to say, your surgery is private. Originally, I only told 3 friends who had cosmetic surgery previously. That plan has changed because I have already delt with some busy bodies as well. I am a teacher and told my business manager I needed to take sick days for surgery. I didn't say what surgery but she told atleast 3 people. I didn't even tell some of my closest friends but they knew something was going on, so I ended up telling 3 more. I was stunned by the support, one friend is a stick and has never delt with weight problems, we eat lunch together and she has seen and heard my struggles. She told me surgery is gutsy, but her sister-in-law did it too. Another friend researched my surgery and was asking about my protein. To clarify, telling or not is your choice, I mean who doesn't lose weight on a liquid diet, but you might be pleasantly surprised by sharing.
