I definitely have an easier time with warm or hot beverages than cold (surgery was on Friday) how long until I can stomach cold drinks again? Right now I feel like cold drinks quadruple the gas in my stomach!

I bought these thru medifast too and theirs were pretty good! I might have to try the brand bariatric choice sells since I order vitamins thru them!

I was nervous before I went in to surgery also! I think that's normal! Be sure to post once you are out! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

There are protiens out there that don't taste bad i would recommend ordering samples and trying different flavors until u find one you like. I really liked the hot cocoa protien powder - it's great to be able to relax with a cup of it!

We were told not to use slim fast - too much sugar.

I didn't have a preop diet either just had to stop eating 12 hours before surgery.

I made it, surgery went good yesterday morning. At home now & lots of pain in the left incision (where they pulled out the stomach) and having a hard time getting in liquid. I have to walk when ever I take a sip or I feel like there's too much gas in there and it'll come back up. Nurse said this is due to the hiatial hernia repair, and it should go away. I just want to get past this part, can't wait to get to eat soups! I am already tired of broth and popsicles. LOL How long until the incision pain goes away? And I feel like I can drink or eat again?

Well the day is finally here - time to say goodbye to my 275# self! Surgery in just under 2 hours. Hoping for a quick and complication free surgery! Good luck to anyone else having surgery today!

Less than 24 hours to go. Nerves are starting to kick in. I am hoping for a quick in and out textbook proceedure with no complications. Nurse just called me with recommendations on what to bring. And I am SOOOOO not focused on work today. Probably should have taken the day off. Tomorrow will be an early day...6 am check in & 7 am surgery time on Friday the 13th. Good thing I am not su·per·sti·tious LOL But I hope it will all be worth it. Can't wait to start losing weight. I have a long way to get to goal and hope that this will help to keep me motivated, and insure that I lose weight quickly. Would like to lose half of me 135# +/- . But we will take it 5# at a time once I get to the healthy weight range. Because I don't want to look sickly skinny. Got to get packing...and figure out if I need to buy anything else: Chapstick, Gas X, Listerine Strips, Tooth brush & Tooth Paste, sugar free vitamin C drops, List of questions for the doctor, magazines, ear plugs, head phones, phone & wall charger, change of clothes (probably will wear what I am going home in, since I will only be in them for the 1/2 hour drive to the surgery center), DVD - nurse said there is a DVD player, ID, Ins Card, Hair Brush & Scrunchie. Too bad I don't know anyone that could braid my hair down in corn rows. Then I wouldn't have to worry about a bunch of big frizzy curls. LOL I am sure I am forgetting something, but I'll go read everyones recommendations and then add to the list before I pack up tonight.

Well hopefully once you get the new blood in you, you will be feeling back to normal & will be released and can recover in comfort at home! I'll keep you in my thoughts.

I am going to have to add this to my shopping list of things to pick up tonight to take with me. Hopefully I can find it in one of the stores here. I'm not usually a big ginger fan, so hoping I like it. Go in tomorrow morning, 7am surgery time, Less than 24 hours and nerves are kicking in. Can anyone recommend any last minute questions to ask the surgeon?

Wow so many April sleevers - it's great to read everyones progress. Thank you all for posting your recovery process post op. Makes it me calmer knowing what I "should" expect for my own recovery. Getting nervous now - Friday is the day! Can't wait to join you all on the losers bench!

Sorry if this has been asked - but does everyone have drains after surgery? Or is it case by case like the leak test?

I just had another surgery in Jan and they made me take out all the piercings I could remove due to electricity. I have one in the cartelidge(sp?) of my ear that won't come out that they just taped it down. My tongue closed with that stay so I am planning to get it repierces after this one. And reply to Rhonda - I used to have my nipples pierced - I liked the way they looked and it made them more sensitive but my body rejected the piercings

Even skinny people have stretch marks. My 13 year old (skin and bones) son has a bunch from his rapid growth spurt. dermatologist said nothing will get rid of the stretch marks and not to waste the money as if she had something that would get rid of stretch marks her line would be out the door, lol.

I'm actually going thru Obands Surgery Center. A few of the girls at work went thru them, so they referred me over. I probably would have gone thru Dr. Teng if I'd have known I'd be living on this side of town now, since he is out of Mountainview.

This has so been me too. The bad thing is I can't be below 270 (for BMI of 40) the day of surgery and now instead of gaining weight every other day when I jump on the scale it goes from 270 down to 268 or 269. Where as before I could gain 5#s just by saying let's go out to eat. LOL.Oh well, soon enough I'll be in for surgery prep day. 3 more weeks.
