  1. So there are times when i can eat and everything is fine, no problems no issues. Then there are times where I am so hungry and nothing sits well in my stomach. I am a little over 5 weeks out .... what does this mean??? All suggestions are accepted - this is not the first time this has happened.
  2. the title should say it all -
  3. get chewable Vitamins either Flinstones or gummy ones and take one in the morning and one a few hours later. start taking Biotin - its for hair loss Protein protein protein - if all you drink is Protein shakes then do it. i bought sugar free gummy vitamins at CVS they are delicious and they don't make you sick. the flinstones were making my stomach upset. good luck
  4. So i am 4 weeks post op and i go through this every week. I have constipation like there is no tomorrow. I can't eat because i feel like i am gonna explode I am taking fiber chewables, I am taking stool softners daily and I am eating cream of wheat with extra fiber and nothing. I go once a week (i know tmi sorry) which is so not comfortable for me. Before surgery I would go after every meal and then some. It was not uncomfortable it was almost a releif. I know that sounds totally bazzaar but when you are so used to going to not going at all i am misrable. Can someone help me???? I have a Drs appt today but I am going on 4 days with no movement and i know the scale is really gonna show it.
  5. i was told to take little sips all day - sips not gulps like we are used to drinking. My sug. said to drink between 16 and 20 oz, sipping, it should take an hour. hope you feel better soon.
  6. put them in a coffee grinder and they become powder.
  7. Anna - i am three weeks and two days out - mushies aren't any better trust me. I drink chicken broth all the time. I think it helps with some kind of craving. Don't ask me what it is but i feel a boost of energy and its warm and goes down so easy i swear to you i could drink it all day. The only thing the mushies have done for me is make me constipated. So talk about no weight loss in the last few days, well your lookin at it. I almost feel better just drinking warm fluids then eating when i am backed up (TMI sorry). Just do what you can - i am in the same boat - but love my chicken broth. Try it it might help and its 3 grams of protein a cup so its some protein. good luck carmy
  8. I am 3 weeks out minus a day and the last 4 days have been horrible for me. I feel sick when i eat and i feel sick when i don't eat. I know doesn't make sense but has anyone gone through this??? I almost feel like I want to go back to just liquids. Any suggestions will help.
  9. I was having the same problem in the beginning. try stool softners - i usually take one or two a day and its keeps me regular. I have read on here that a lot of people like the liquid form but if i have to drink any more then i already do i might float away. good luck - i know that can be the worst feeling ever. carmy
  10. i take the chocolate calcium chews - two before bed they are yummy
  11. don't forget your Vitamins - i think it helps a lot. good luck
  12. drink chicken broth - i found that when i was feeling sluggish i would drink chicken broth and i was good. B-12 is huge. I still take mine every day. I hope it gets better for you.
  13. I just asked my dr about this the other day. How do you know if you are drinking enough? I said. Say you have a 16-20 bottle of Water of some kind, how long should it take you to drink it? His answer to me was. If you take a sip every minute or two you should be drinking at least 30 oz in one hour. Yes i had the same look on my face, but its true, or so he says so. I have always heard in the past you should drink 64 oz of water in a day plus 8 oz for every 20 lbs you want to loose. Hmmmm Maybe it was true all along.
  14. did you know...... there are 6 teaspoons to every 1 ounce??? I know why am i thinking of this now. Well I was at Target this morning and found a rubber teaspoon that is used for portion size. You scoop whatever into it and you turn it upside down and push on the back side rubber and push it out (makes 1/2 ball shape). So anyway I got one and thought this would be a great way to measure my food. i.e. applesauce, ricotta, cottage cheese, refried Beans, even eggbeaters before i cook them. So as soon as i got home i had to calculate teaspoons to ounces. Holy Crap!!!! 6 TEASPOONS TO 1 OUNCE!!! Do you know how much food that is??? 12 TEASPOONS A MEAL. Really I am suppose to eat 12 TEASPOONS OF FOOD per meal??? According to my Doctor I should be eating 2-3 ounces 3-4 times a day. NO WAY!!! I am 11 days post op and I have gotten sick twice now. I don't stuff myself by no means but when i feel like i am still hunger there has been that last bite that gets stuck in my throat and wants out in a bad way. Is this how i should be feeling? Has anyone else experienced this???

Who knew it would be so bad - I don't know if i ate too much or if the Salmon didn't agree with me. I had more pain being sick then i did having the surgery - is that normal. I finally got it out and felt a little better after an hour or so but OMG i will never do that again.
  16. I drink "Pure Protein Shake" they have vanilla and Cookies and cream that are so good. They come in a can shaped like a bottle. I put it in the freezer about 20 mins before i start to drink it and its really cold and stays cold. But even at room temp they are really good. Taste like Ice Cream. 23 grams of protein per can. good luck
  17. Protein Protein Protein - i feel a total difference when i am in need of some protein. drink broth throughout the day - it helps a ton.
  18. You should never go back to having caffeinated coffee. My Dr. said I could drink De-Caf right away. I am 10 days post op and I sip on coffee (decaf) every morning. I use Truvia as my sweetener and use milk or soy to lighten it up. I look at it this way ..... the pain i went through to get off the caffeine reminds me just to stay away from it all together. good luck
  19. I am a new sleever but am doing a lot of research on donating my clothes to abused women or women trying to get back on their feet. Anyone have any suggestions???? I am in the San Diego area and really have a lot of clothes all different kinds - I know that I haven't changed sizes yet but I feel it in the next week or so I will begin to clean out drawers and closets. If anyone needs anything just ask.
  20. wishing you a speedy recovery
  21. i needed a new taste so i am mixing 3 parts broth to 1 part cream soup not tomato butternut squash. its delicious.
  22. I just wanted to know if anyone went through having shakes and when will they stop. I am starting to figure out that if i drink broth they calm down some. Any recommendations????
  23. i am 39 and got the surgery on jan 12th.
  24. Surgery went well. Jan. 12th 2011. Went in at 291 lbs. Surgery was a breeze nothing major. I stayed in the hospital an extra day because white blood cell count was a little high but had a cat scan of my belly and all is good. Was finally discharged at 11 am yesterday (Saturday). When i got home I had a bottle of Propel next to my bed and fell asleep. Lord knows i didn't get much sleep in the hospital. today is day 4 of post op - i am good. sipping a little of this and a little of that - trying for variety cause i don't want to get bored.
  25. I was never put on only liquids until today because my surgery is tomorrow jan. 12th. i just had to do low carbs and then from my pre op appt. last thursday it was no carbs. good luck.
