  1. I hope it works out for you. Who's your surgeon?
  2. My doctor only required several office notes from my PCP for the 3 years in question. So, we chose the office visits with the highest weights. Try that...
  3. That's great news! I'm excited for you! Where is Dr. Garcia, by the way?
  4. Hey, everyone! I'm an AA female and I live in Louisiana! I have been so obsessed with reading the insurance/finance forum, I didn't see this one. I'm coming to the realization that LOTS of folks have had wls. I'm late to the game at 45! But, better late than never, right? I'm just starting my journey. I've been to the first visit and my next one is this coming Wednesday. I'll have a psych eval next week and I've already had a gallbladder ultrasound. I'm on the one shake meal replacement plan and have to do the 3 month diet. I guess if things went according to plan, everything would be complete in July and surgery would be in August (my birthday month)! All of you who have had the surgery sound great and positive. I'm just afraid that I will be denied. I have an 'off the wall' insurance that no one seems to have heard of through my employer. It requires that you prove medical necessity. My bmi is well over 40, I take medication for hypertension, and I don't recall ever seeing under 200 pounds. I'm hoping that's going to do it! Does anyone have any words of encouragement for a sister? **sad face** Thanks!
  5. Well, she's a business owner and saved for the procedure. Neither was in the military. The other was a Louisiana state employee, who probably had BCBS.
  6. One was self-pay and I'll ask the other and get back to you.
  7. Not in San Antonio, but I know a couple of folks who had procedures in Houston.
  8. Can I be denied if I don't lose or gain weight during the diet?
  9. Has anyone in Louisiana had VSG? If so, which insurance company approved you?
  10. Have you looked into Care Credit? I saw people discuss on this forum.
  11. But, you Doc has to accept CareCredit, right?
  12. I was told that my insurance follows Aetna's criteria. Does that mean I will be approved easily?
  13. Has anyone had experience with Cannon Cochran Verity Healthnet? I am a government employee. I have been to the first meeting with the surgeon's office and the dietician. I was told that I have to do the 3 month medically supervised diet and psych eval for the sleeve. I have a 48 BMI with hypertension. I also have chronic joint pain and arthritis. After the first visit, I was excited and began the one meal replacement diet. Then, I saw my PCP's nurse when I went to go pick up medical records and she said not to try too hard to lose during the diet or I might be denied! WTH? I'm now really confused! Any advice about the ins company and/or the diet? Thanks ahead of time!
