  3. Glad to hear some of you thought it wasn't that bad lol, my mom had gastric bypass a couple years ago and said she threw up after. she said it tasted like gasoline. I'll just pretend its a margarita I'm using dr. morris washington in south carolina. It's $8000 all inclusive. I got financing for $7000 of it and i have to pay for travel. its a 12 day stay but god knows i need the vacation lol!!! check my other posts for more info.
  4. me too, stupid bcbs. do u have carefirst???? I have to finance now and i found a doc that does it in the US for 8000 pm me for info
  5. I called mine before my seminar thank god, b/c they told me they don't cover it. ( i guess my policy)
  6. Hey guys, I'm still pre-op but I'm hearing that the liquid that you have to drink for the barium leak test is disgusting and makes you nauseous. I saw that someone sucked on a lollipop afterwards so i found these "three lollies queasy drops" at walgreens....Has anyone tried these? I knew they had preggie pops for morning sickness then i found these. Are we allowed to suck on these after the surg, and for the test to cut down on the nausea and nasty taste????
  7. aw yay! ive been having some issues with my 'stuff' too, hopefully the weight loss will help...congrats on aunt flow.....It's funny how we hate her when she visits but when shes gone for a while all we want is her. lol
  8. How did your FIL do with the surgery luvrkb????
  9. Yea!! his staff is amazing too. I haven't personally spoken with him yet but I feel very confident with my decision and i'm thrilled with the price. I read that he was in NJ and his girls told me that. I'm so excited
  10. Hey all, my insurance doesnt cover bariatric surgery so I started looking else where, i didn't want to travel to Mexico. I wanted to stay in the US. I found dr. morris washington. I have my surgery date set for september 12th. Everyones questioning why its so cheap so i asked. Here was the reply: Ok ....why it's so cheap. Our bariatric program here at Conway Medical Center with Dr. Washington is new. Our former bariatric surgeon left this area about 1.5 years ago. The hospital recruited Dr. Washington from his practice in NJ (Freehold I think). Our facility was previously a Center of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery with the former surgeon. When he left, we lost that special accreditation (b/c we had no one to do the surgeries and you have to do so many in a certain time frame to keep it current). For our new program we are in the process of obtaining our new Center of Excellence. In order to be in compliance with this program however, you have to do 125 bariatric surgeries over a certain time frame. The hospital administration decided to discount the self pay price for the surgeries so that we could hopefully get to that number sooner rather than later as that is the only requirement of the excellence program that is not already in place. I also asked is he board certified and here is the reply: Dr. Washington is board certified and he is even a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. (extra training/certification) You can see all of his credentials, bio information, etc. on our website financing through chase advanced medical (i think thats what its called...not positive) and i was approved for 7000. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask me. I'm very confident with my decision to choose Dr. Washington. (he's in south carolina by the way-and its a 12 day visit if your out of town). Good luck!!!
  11. Nope, what part of NJ?
  12. After making the orientation appt, and the appt with the doc...i called and found out my insurance (sucky bcbs carefirst) wont cover bariatric surgery. NO MATTER WHAT. So i started looking into my options. I found Dr Morris washington in south carolina (i live in NJ) and i decided to go with him. He is 8000. And I got a loan through chase (chase medical advantage i think its called) for 7000 so i just have to come up with 1000 more. I have to stay there for 12 days. I get there on a sunday (my tentative date is september 9th yay i have a date!) mon and tues is for testing. Weds is SURGERY DAY! I stay that night and Thurs night, fri I get discharged. sat, sun , mon, tues, weds are the relax days (vacation ) and Thursday is the check up day and I can go home. 12 days is a lot. Yes. But my mom is going with me the first 6 days. We'll drive down (about 10 hours) then shes going to fly back home and my boyfriend will fly in for the next 6 days and we'll drive home thursday. I'll go back to work the next monday. Nice long well deserved vacation to start the rest of my life. The girls at Dr washingtons office have been wonderful. I've been in touch with Lauren everyday since I called. I've been calling for questions and now i have her email! My phone consultation with Dr Washington is on april 24th. If anyone has any questions about them let me know
  13. Yay! Thats the date of my consultation with him! You have to let me know how you make out. are you from the area or are you an out of town patient???? PM me! Can't wait to talk to another future patient of his!
  14. thanks all. @lipstick....i actually found him a couple days ago. I spoke with the girls at his office today and i was approved for 7000. so its only 1000 out of pocket im calling tomorrow to find out what to do about the consultation with the doctor and hopefully schedule my date!!!! things turned around, just glad i was approved for 7000 and i get a 12 day vacation out of it! They require you to stay 12 days to make sure everythings ok so my moms going to do half the trip with me and my boyfriend will do the other half. The tests are included in the 8000 too....and so is the consultation (incase anyone else is wondering)
  15. thanks JS, thats where i copied the tests from. Hopefully my insurance would cover it. Going to call tomorrow and see if i could switch to a different plan that will cover surgery so i wont have to travel. worse comes to worse i found Umbach and washington (a doc in SC) that i'd be interested in. Such a pain in the butt these insurance companies. what am i paying all this money for a month if they wont cover surgery. uggghhhh
  16. Yea I considered it. I decided I'd rather stay in the US Just wondering how much the pre op testing costs. Incase for some reason my insurance wont cover that either!!! I'm starting to wonder why i even have insurance.
  17. Okay, so i found out today my insurance does NOT cover bariatric surgery. I found a doctor in las vegas that does one of those all inclusive deals . I would be self pay through a finance company. Here are my questions: (questions are hi lighted in pink !) Has anyone ever used dr umbach in las vegas with self pay? These are the things that they require : How much out of pocket would that be ??? -The office requires * Surgical Clearance * EKG * Pre-operative Labs: (" CMP" Lipid Panel " " " Glycohemoglobin" Insulin " " " Vitamin B12" Vitamin B1 " " " Vitamin D-25 OH" Ferritin " " " CBC" Folate " " " TSH" PTH) What finance company is most likely to give me the medical loan? My credit is good. I do have one credit card (5000 dollars on it....paying it off now, and about 4000 owed on my car payment) but i pay every month wihtout fail.) I never ever miss payments. Any help would be appriciated.
  18. Good luck, all will go well. Don't worry and atleast you'll come home to a nice clean house.
  19. thats a great list joiebean. i may need that for the future. msdebi congrats on your date can't wait to hear how it went. good luck.
  20. That is so great!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you, congrats!!!!
