  1. Its amazing how every day I am learning what works for me. I am supposed to get 70g of protein in a day, and I refuse to drink those nasty protein shakes anymore, so that means I am having 1 or 2 protein rich snacks a day (yogurt, milk, a little meat). I've also noticed I need to stay AHEAD of my hunger (which without restriction is every 3 hours at most) otherwise I feel very weak. When I am out and about I bring a lunchbag with snacks. I have moments where I feel really depressed and overwhelmed with this whole thing, but I noticed when I'm not hungry, my mood is a bit more stable. I just want to heal and be on regular foods. I want to be able to eat a salad or what everyone else is eating, just less of it. Patience is hard! Congrats to all recently banded Hey Deb! I wondered what had happened to you. I'm sorry to hear your surgery was postponed. I know how anxious you are to have this done. Try not to get down on yourself... this is a blessing because you don't want to put yourself at risk by having a BMI higher than your surgeon says is safe. You are in my prayers as well and I am excited for you to have your surgery done in no time
  2. Oops, sorry double posted.
  3. @lappyloo I'm sorry it wasn't a great experience. The only thing that works is walking and waiting it out unfortunately. In a day or two things will be so much better. @kiwijo Try pineapple juice. Worked like a charm for me! Some say papaya enzymes work as well. @mrs.Popeye Im going through the same thing. My appetite is actually worse now than it was before I had the band. Argh.
  4. Yummy! My first non liquid meal was lemon Chobani yogurt. Never tasted so good! It's crazy how a portion that seemed so tiny before surgery now seems like A LOT of food! Eating 1 cup of food takes me 45 minutes and I feel stuffed. I am not on mushies anymore.. if mushies are the same as pureed food? I am on soft foods. Lots of ground meats, tilapia, and canned fruit.
  5. Me too. Keep me posted! I am really hoping my first fill next month helps a little bit. My hunger wasnt even this band BEFORE the band. Just trying to be patient.
  6. This is reassuring. I'm about two weeks and the hunger is really kicking in. I never feel full for more than a couple hours, so I can't wait to feel restriction eventually.
  7. Thank you Lose_it. I needed to hear that. Here is what I ate today: Breakfast - 1/2 cup yogurt, 1/4 cup raspberries and strawberries snack - 8oz skim milk lunch - 1/2 cup chili, 1/4 cup diced peaches Snack - 1/2 cup yogurt dinner - 1/2 cup tilapia with salsa, 1/2 cup mandarin orange Snack - 8oz skim milk Exercise : 20 mins walking on the treadmill. I think I need to work on adding variety to my meals and having more veggies as opposed to fruits. Also, in order to curb my hunger and get in those 70g of Protein a day, I need to have something between every meal. This is such a learning process but every day I learn more what works for me. Hope you ladies had a good day
  8. I don't think it would hurt it, but it's a slippery slope. I knew myself that if I cheated on the pre op liquids with something tiny, I would be 100x more tempted to cheat in a big way later.
  9. This all sounds pretty normal to me. The first few days my stomach felt so gassy and bloated, I thought I'd explode. It will get better in a day or two. Also, make sure you are sipping on the liquids slowly. I find that warm liquids go down better than cold. Peppermint tea helped some of the gas to expel.
  10. I was banded on 5/8. Honestly I'm hungry all the time now. lol. It didnt start til a couple days ago... Now food only holds me probably 2 hours. Water doesn't curb my hunger. And since I switched to soft foods I've gained 7.5lbs. I have not cheated AT ALL so I don't understand. Cannot wait for my fill June 14... I'm going crazy. I'm glad it's not just me.
  11. My nutritionist doesn't recommend breads, rice or pasta at this time so I have not had any. Im surprised someone's doctor recommended muffins, but every doctor has different rules. Go with what your Dr says. To me, the band is a tool not a life sentence of deprivation. It needs to be something we can live w/ long term, and for me, to say I can "never" have pasta or bread i enjoy is unrealistic. It is about making those things a treat instead of a daily occurrence the way we used to. I am curious as to whether other people gained weight once they switched to soft foods? I had been rapidly losing since the pre op diet so kinda surprised. Trying not to get discouraged, continue followin the rules and do my best til my fill.
  12. @rskegui Sounds like you are doing well. a good surgeon makes the process so much easier. Mine made me feel at ease right away too. Has anyone else gained weight since being banded? Since switching to soft foods a few days ago, I have gained 7.5 lbs. Crazy.
  13. I am having 3 glasses of milk a day and water in between that, but I think I need to drink more. Gonna try that today. I got myself some crystal light.
  14. I'll have to try the dinner in a bag. I've tried ground turkey, beef, and shredded chicken. So far so good. However, I weighed myself today and I have GAINED 7.5lbs. Really upset right now. I don't know how that's possible when I'm following the plan? I am just not weighing myself again til my fill on the 14th. I talked to my sister and she calmed me down. I lost 20 lbs on pre op liquids, and another 15 or so on post op liquids.. So I think it was bound to slow down especially when I switched to regular foods.
  15. Ok here is what I ate today: Breakfast - 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/4 cup banana and strawberry lunch - 1/4 cup chicken, 1/4 cup cheesy broccolli snack - 1/2 cup yogurt dinner - 2/3 cup beef chili, 1/4 cup mango Snack - 8oz milk I will probably have another 8oz milk before bed I feel like I followed the plan today, yet I feel weak, depressed, and I am having headaches. NO energy to even go on walks. Nurse said I could take tylenol if I broke it up into pieces, thank goodness. How often are you guys eating? I think I am going to set a timer and literally eat every two hours. I just don't know how much I could have per sitting. I am supposed to get 70g Protein a day and I refuse to get that from the Protein Shakes which gave me the worst constipation of my life. Frustrated!
  16. Congrats Christine! So today has been my first bad day. Constantly feeling hungry, dull headache that won't go away and just feel weak. It's weird... I get hungry every 1-2 hours but when I sit down to eat I have little desire. Or i get stuffed so fast i cant eat ENOUGH to sustain me so i get weak. Is this an emotional thing?! Just me? I don't feel energetic or like myself even tho every meal is mostly protein, plus 3 glasses of milk Inbetween. Is anyone else going through this? Maybe I need to be eating 4 or 5 meals a day. I talked to the nurse today who said constant hunger is normal til a full, but I'm feeling discouraged.
  17. Ok the nurse called back. She said it is normal because they mess around w/ a lot of muscle during surgery and things tighten up. She suggested ice packs to bring the inflammation down.
  18. Omg it's torture. I had the chicken and veggies.. Could only have 1/2cup before I felt satisfied. Now 2 hours later I'm hungry again. I've been sipping water almost nonstop today and it hasn't helped. Think I will have Greek yogurt. I thought maybe it was head hunger but I feel physically pretty week and a light Headache. I just want to feel like myself again and not obsess over food
  19. Ok I will definitely let you know!
  20. my Doctor said its okay for me to have at the soft foods stage. I shred it up and put an Italian dressing on it. Have had no problems getting it down.
  21. Congrats on your weight loss so far ladies! That's awesome! I am really struggling today... I feel hungry all the time, and all I want to do is down a huge glass of juice :/ UGH!!! I am going to try shredded chicken breast and veggies for lunch and see if that satisfies me. I just don't get how im having sufficient Protein and am still hungry an hour or two later. Debbie - I just posted my 2 wk post op pics on my page. Wasn't sure if I wanted to have them public, so it is is set so that my friends can see them. Of course we would love to have you.
  22. So I am a little frustrated. I was banded two weeks ago. Up until a few days ago I had little interest in food. Started soft foods a few days ago and now I am hungry all the time. I have Protein with every meal plus milk between meals and I am still starving. It's like I only stay satisfied for a couple hours. Also having mild headaches. Is there something wrong with me or this bandster hell everyone talks about? I just want to feel restriction and stop thinking about food all the time!
