  1. Thanks for the feedback everyone...I will definitely take it into consideration!
  2. Hi Banders, I was banded on December 20th, 2013 & has only lost 4 pounds. Why is that? My meals are much smaller than before I was banded, I drink protein shakes, & recommended amounts of water & liquids daily. I get my 2nd fill tomorrow March 10th. I haven't really exercised yet, just a few minutes here & there due to Illinois having a terrible winter (I love to walk) & my house isn't big enough to have a treadmill or any other exercise equipment. I've never been the one to spend my money in a gym membership because they charge too much. I've also noticed that my stomach growls often & I'm gassy & belch a lot. My Dr said he's never had a patient complain about the gas & belching. Besides all of this I feel great. Any suggestions will be helpful...thanks in advance,
  3. @ pink dirt...congratulations! I was banded yesterday also, I wasn't told anything about getting enough protein either. All I was told was to stay on clear liquids the 1st 2 days and after that I'll graduate to soft foods but to push liquids and take meds a prescribed. Good luck with recovery...I hope it's a speedy one!
  4. Lol @ wish your shoulder could fart! Did you have to use anything to have a bowel movement? I'm not having shoulder pain, mine is mostly floating around in my stomach as if it's looking for an escape route because it keeps moving. I'm being released from the hospital this morning and stopping at the drugstore to pick up chewable gas x, I have a heat pad at home. I slept good last night with little pain. Thanks for your suggestions,
  5. Thanks for responding bandsters...I'm just ready to heal and be on my way to a new me!
  6. I was banded at about 7 this morning. I feel great. Was able to hold down my liquids, walked the halls, and went to the bathroom by myself. The only thing that is bothering me is this awful gas pain! It hurts in my stomach, shoulder, and side...can someone tell me what I can do to release/relieve the gas besides walking? The nurse told me to take gas x tomorrow after I'm released. Thanks,
  7. @ kimk1999 I was told to do a liquid diet which was very hard. I think the slim fast might've been a better option for me. I did as much broth as I wanted and a protein drink once a day.
  8. Can someone please tell me why some have the pre-op diet and some don't? Does the dr's know how big your liver is before the surgery? I'm just curious...I'm getting band in the morning and I'm excited as ever!
  9. My band date is actually 12/20/13. My emotions are everywhere right now because I have only have 5 days til surgery. I'm nervous, excited, happy & sad! I don't know what to do. I've fought for this surgery and was denied twice before they decided to approve me after this 3rd time. I guess it's true what they say- 3x's a charm! I guess I'm having the mixed emotions because this is what I've wanted for the last 2 years and it's finally happening! I've read so many stories about banding, some good, some not so good. I'm going to take everything to heed and 1 day at a time...and stay prayed up that my God bring me through any rough patches that I endure. I wish everybody well that is being banded before & after me...Good luck all!
  10. I have my Lapband surgery on 12/20/13...I'm having mixed emotions which I think are my nerves as it gets closer to the date. I was denied Lapband twice because of my bmi being to high but finally got approved this last time. Guess it's true what they say "3x's" a charm!
  11. @ New Beginnings, that's exactly what I'm going to do....Thanks! Sent from my SCH-I400 using LapBandTalk
  12. I use to work with this lady who's bmi was well over 50+ & they approved her lapband & this is the same insurance company. She lost a whole person + & looks absolutely gorgeous.... Sent from my SCH-I400 using LapBandTalk
  13. Hi everyone, has anyone heard of insurance companies denying lapband because of your bmi being above 50, but will approve gastric?!?! What's the difference? Shouldn't that be the patients choice of which weightloss surgery they want? I'm confused!! Sent from my SCH-I400 using LapBandTalk
  14. Emonie, after I saw the nurse & nutritionist, they submitted my papers. My insurance did away with a psych evaluation. Good luck to you! Sent from my SCH-I400 using LapBandTalk
