  1. You're doing so awesome!! What was your beginning size/weight and when was your surgery?
  2. You're kicking butt and you look great. Congrats!! I would reward myself with some cute new jewelry or haircut or trip to the MAC counter! Or a movie, pedicure, etc...
  3. What does NSV stand for? I feel like an idiot asking. Ha.
  4. Soooooo awesome!! Keep it up. So happy for you.
  5. Definitely prayers are going up for you.
  6. @Foxbins- Congrats on making your goal weight!!
  7. I had a consultation about 3 yrs ago and was told I'm eligible for band, sleeve or gastric bypass. I ended up chickening out, then got pregnant. Now I'm back and ready. My consultation with the surgeon is tomorrow. Are there any specific questions anybody recommends I ask? Like did any of you wish you'd asked something that never came to mind? Thanks, everyone. I love this group.
  8. @Beautiful. I saw the doctor & nutritionist 3 years ago but have to start my process again now. I have an appointment with my PCP, a psych eval scheduled, surgeon consultation scheduled and an appointment at a sleep lab. 2 of those appointments are 1 month away. Grr! I'm getting impatient already. I want them to happen now. Ha.
  9. Yeah @New Chapter. I want to know, too. How long did it take?
  10. Hi! :-) I was curious if anybody has advice or similar situation. My BMI is 38. It's been over 35 for 5 years and has been documented by my primary doctor. To qualify through BCBS IL my BMI can be 35+ with 2 co-morbities. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure/hypertension and high cholesterol 3 years ago. I also know I have sleep apnea but have not had that documented on paper by a doctor (yet). I took medications to control bp & cholesterol for a year until I got pregnant. From the moment I got pregnant my blood pressure has been normal. No meds for almost 2 years. I've gained weight even but somehow pregnancy corrected this issue. weird, right? Anyway, I'm wondering if high blood pressure would still be considered as a co-morbidity. It's been documented in the past but really is not an issue now. I don't want to ask my insurance company this question (don't want to draw attention. Ha). I just wonder if once you're "labeled" with hypertension if they always consider you to still have it. I still have high cholesterol. I guess I could go get the sleep apnea diagnosed so I'll have 2 co-morbidities. Thanks in advance to anyone who has advice!!
  11. Thank you so much for these replies, everyone. Not that I'm glad you're all fearful, but I'm glad I'm not the only one. I can't believe I'm going to do this but I'm so ready!!
  12. Hi! I don't have my surgery date yet, hopefully soon. I'm not worried about the pre or post-op struggles (at least not right now). I know it will be ridiculously hard but I'm ready for the challenge. All I can think about is being put under anasthesia and having a doctor cut into me. I've never had surgery before and I'm sooo scared. I know people go under anasthesia every day but I'm scared of dying. Was anybody else this fearful? Am I being a total baby! I'm 30 yrs old. 5'8", 250 lbs. I have a husband and 23 month old little girl. I can't be dying from WLS. I have too much to live for!
