Uhc Wait....
freaking hilarious.... my kids (grown up adults) tease me because my 'new kids' have their own room and they have to use the guest room when they visit.... yes, I have a cat room. I only have two furry critters now and one really stupid dog - the cats chase the dog around the house. so since you work in the healthcare industry - I guess you know the ins and outs - which is probably a relief. So glad I changed from having the lapband surgery to the sleeve - looking forward to huge success!! failure is not an option.

Uhc Wait....
Mufasa is the love of my life...haha. now do I sound like the crazy cat woman down the block or what!! I'm not really too concerned about NOT being approved, as I've met all the requirements and done everything that the insurance company has asked for, and I've heard UHC is one of the best insurance companies to work with during this WLS adventure. I am just not a patient person....

Uhc Wait....
Insurance was submitted on Friday - Aug 3. Called insurance company yesterday -they have it in the system... called doctors office to obtain the reference number that the insurance assigns when they receive the faxed documents - then phoned the insurance company today and gave them the reference number (makes such a difference to have that number) - and said it was in pending status. He said they usually take up to 5 days for approvals and then they snail mail the approval, but I can phone them and receive the actual approval over the phone and then have the doctors office do the same so we can get a surgery date scheduled. My boss is going nuts, he is as excited as I am for this surgery. I am about to get another VP to support, so I'll have 2 VP's which is great - but timing is not so great, as her first impression of me will be 'hello Im your new admin, and I'll see you in 3 weeks..... My boss is working all this out with HR so that I do get to support another VP, but that nothing can harm me while I get this procedure - he's awesome about protecting me. I think this approval wait is going to be much more difficult than the entire 6 month wait......crossing my fingers!!

-
H-Pylori - Negative

6 Months Of Supervised Dieting
again-- double check with the NEW insurance company in regards to their requirements - if you know which company your employer has planned on selecting. They MAY be able to give you a head up on if the new insurance will have a policy which includes WLS. good luck

Has Anyone Used True Results In Dallas W/dr. John Marsden?
Sorry about that. I called to get my h-pylori results bu nurse was with a patient so receptionist looked and said she thinks its negative but shes not a nurse. Nurse was supposed to call me but they close early on friday. Guess i have to wait till monday.

6 Months Of Supervised Dieting
You may want to double check on the jump starting the 6 month diet - as it may require your 6 month diet to have started with the NEW insurance. I re-read my bariatric coverage on my insurance and it sounds like that would count as pre-existing, as in it was being done under the OLD plan - the new plan would not cover. Insurance is very tricky - so possibly contacting someone in your HR department may be able to help you out. Or, if you know what insurance companies will be a part of the new open enrollment - you can contact them. Where I work, we don't change that much - we always offer BCBS or UHC - but the plans themselves do change each year. best of luck to you
-
Cigna - Denied
Most plans want you to have any bariatric procedure at a center of excellence, that being said - many will pay up to $10,000 (according to my policy) for travel and accommodation for such a surgery. You may want to check into that option. I have UHC and had to change surgeons because my first surgeon was NOT affiliated with a COE and there was no way I was trying to get this done without insurance - so new surgeon and correct hospital = no pay for me!

Anyone With United Health Please Help!
I have UHC but my policy states only ONE WLS per lifetime, unless it is to repair damage caused by another WLS - just call you insurance company and get the specifics - they are all different.

Approval Fr/ Cigna
great news - congrats!!!

dang - couldn't take the wait anymore - just called True Results to see if they have the results from the h-pylori test....not yet - they should have it by tomorrow morning... also called my bariatric nurse with UHC to ask if she got the paperwork, but i had to leave a message. I'm glad it's in her hands for approval, as I've talked to her several times and I feel that she sort of knows me...and its' not some total stranger looking over the paperwork to make a decision.

6 Months Of Supervised Dieting
so sorry to hear that - I called my insurance company prior to making any appointments as I didn't want to waste anyone's time. Least open enrollment is around the corner and hopefully your employer will pick up the bariatric option. again, sorry you are not covered at this time.

Actually my doc's office (True Results) said they don't test for this until your last appointment. However, I did hear of this test through other posts on this forum, but did not really know what it was until yesterday when I had to have the test done. I'd check with your surgeon/dr on this - have you scheduled your surgery already? As this appears to be a really bad bug that you don't want prior to surgery. i have still not heard back from the doc office as to if I'm positive or negative for H-Pylori....they said they would call if I was positive....but the waiting is awful - i will wait till around 4:30ish and then call to check...

No - and I'm on pins and needles,.... got sick at the office yesterday and had to go home....I know it was just my nerves and anxiety of finally reaching the 6 month goal...then to possibly have to put off surgery due to a h-pylori - please I understand the importance of the test....it just threw me for a loop yesterday. feel better today - but so hoping that they DO NOT CALL me......but I will call them around noon, just to double check....otherwise I'll go insane

Waiting For Insurance Approval
The anxiety of finally getting through the 6 months then waiting on a blood test to see about h-pylori and submitting to insurance was too much for my tummy I threw up at work and had to come home. My nerves are shot

Has Anyone Used True Results In Dallas W/dr. John Marsden?
I had my final visit at TR today - but won't see Dr Mardsen till insurance is approved (sent in today) and the results from the freaking H-Pylori test. but all in all I have really had a good experience with TR in Richardson and even though they know WHAT the insurance company is looking for, I have stayed on top of it as well for my personal peace of mind. Glad you like Dr Mardsen - all I've heard in really kind words about him and his personality.

wow - 3 day turnaround - that's awesome!! I hope mine gets back at least within the 7 day timeframe - the dr was making sure to put in my diabetes, high cholesterol and my bmi was 41.2 when I first weighed in....which is what UHC goes by- the initial weigh in. maybe I'll call the insurance company next Monday to follow-up, that is IF my h-pylori comes back negative....otherwise it's another 6 weeks or so.....ugh.

finally after 6 months.....there could be one hiccup - h-pylori test done today. they said they are sending in the all the paperwork for insurance approval today, and that it's not pending the results of the h-pylori - however - if positive, surgery would be probably pushed from end of August to end of Sept....I am hoping i DO NOT get a phone call tomorrow when the lab work is back...... otherwise she said UHC was one of the better insurances to work with and we'd get something back within 7 days.... SO i won't call and bother the UHC people till next Wednesday! I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel......
