  1. 40 pounds is awesome! You always hear about all the good it does your body to lose just 10%... Think about all the positive changes that are happening inside! Be proud!
  2. I have also had a slightly elevated temp, off and on. I have no shoulder pain, though. And no pain in my abdomen other than my biggest incision (and the times that I'm stupid and 'eat' too much). I'm just chalking it up to the major surgery.
  3. Those were my least favorite!! Are you mixing them in anything that can work in lots of bubbles? Blender, stick blender, etc. Try making a smoothie in a blender with ice! That helped me a little bit.
  4. I don't know of any nutritionists in KC yet. But I just wanted to say that these boards are FULL of so much help and info. Good luck!!
  5. Boots! I haven't been able to wear boots in forever! Also, I will go to H&M and Anthropologie. My goal is to just fit into the clothes that they sell!!
  6. During my pre-op mostly liquid diet, I lived off of Syntrax Nectar. I ordered a sample pack of it online. Having 13 different flavors meant I could never get bored. And even though I didn't love all of them, I only had to put up with one single serving of the ones I didn't like. I ended up ordering another sample pack to use post-op. Everyone says your tastes change dramatically after surgery, so I didn't want to be stick with some big tub of stuff I couldn't stand. I also liked the ProtiZyme protein powder. Not as much as Syntrax Nectar, but enough to want to buy it again for the sake of variety. Most of the Nectar flavors are really good w/ water, whereas the ProtiZyme flavors are really good with milk.
  7. I'm 4 days post op and have been having the same issue. I'm not drinking any dairy. Any other thoughts?
  8. Today is the first day I've made it onto the boards. So glad I did. I was sleeved on the 14th. Today is my first bad day. I ended up going out of town yesterday to spend time with family. And it kind of feels like maybe I overdid it. I've been so tired all day, kind of dizzy. I also think part of why I feel so bad is because I am having a terrible time keeping up with my week 1 diet. I don't know how anyone can get in all that liquid!! I'm not happy that anyone is feeling badly, but I'm sure glad I'm not alone!!
  9. I am trying to focus on that part, too.
  10. That's me! Anyone else? The insane nervousness has started to kick in! I've had surgery before... I had my tonsil out when I was 5, my mom thinks they used ether. And I had my wisdom teeth out when I was 19, and I know they had to put in an IV for that... But this still feels so scary! Don't get me wrong, I am super excited. But all the scary parts are starting to really kick in now, too. I haven't been great w/ my pre op diet. I have decided that today and tomorrow I'll do all liquids, though. Maybe my own version of penance, or some sort of self-made precaution... Part of me is glad that I have to work the next two days (for the distraction), part of me really wants to be at home 'preparing' and freaking out! lol Do I have any surgery date buddies out there?
  11. I refused to buy anything but variety/sample packs. I bought the variety pack of Syntrax Nectar and I am so in love. But...I'm still pre op. And I've read enough people say that they didn't like the same things post op as they did pre op. So when I run out of samples, I'm just going to buy another variety pack so that I can see what I like post op. I'm in my pre op diet and have to drink one or two shakes a day. So buying it now wasn't a waste of money. I also bought samples of ProtiZyme. I've tried the peanut butter cookie flavor, thought it was good. I bought a few other sample packs but haven't tried any yet.
  12. Thanks guys. I'm glad I'm not alone... I'm afraid that it shows that I'm not 'commited' or something to that effect. That's not it... I'm just so hungry!! I don't have any problem during the work day. I eat what I brought, and I stay busy so it's fine. But I get home at the end of the day, I start paying attention to how hungry I feel. And I don't have anything to distract me. And then all of a sudden that's all I can think about/feel/focus on. And that's how I've ended up cheating. I really appreciate the prayers. I could sure use them!
  13. Ok... I am having a terrible time. I have even cheated. And I feel terrible about it. I just keep getting so hungry. Hungier than I've ever felt in my life. I get terrible headaches, I get sick to my stomach, shaky. And everything I can eat is cold. After eating cold foods/liquids all day, all I can think about is something warm and comforting. I'm so embarrassed.
  14. Today was Day 2 of my PreOp Diet. And I'm pretty surprised I didn't chew my own arm off, too!! And I'm drinking so much water (because I'm SO hungry) that it feels like I'm peeing every 5 minutes!!
  15. Hello!! My surgery is March 14th, and I am new here as well. Good luck and congrats!! There is TONS of info to be had here. I could (and have) read for hours...
  16. Next weekend will be my last weekend. My surgery is Wednesday the 14th. I have to do a 10 day low sugar, low calorie preop diet. Breakfast was yogurt. Lunch will be a protein shake. Dinner will be 3oz fat free lunch meat and cottage cheese. I can have unlimited sugar free beverages, jello, and popsicles, as well as unlimited dill pickles, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, and radishes. I'm not worried about getting through today, because I just nap. I'm worried about getting through work while feeling cranky and starving...
  17. I'm really concerned about the whole head hunger/cravings thing. I had a terrible time with wanting to eat all of my favorite foods 'one last time' before I started my preop diet.
  18. I also had the fear that I would just stretch my stomach back out. My doctor told me that it would be very unlikely. The part of the stomach that they remove is the stretchy part. The tissue that's left is not as stretchy. It seems to me that if I overeat post op, I'll be way more likely to vomit than I will be to stretch out my new banana-tummy.
  19. I am taking a week off. My clinic usually says 7-10 days. I'm 27, and I will be going back to a desk job.
  20. Does thos mean that you take 3000mcg total daily? I can't figure out how much I should take...
  21. I have read this entire thread over the course of the last couple of days. I just joined 30 seconds and the very first thing I wanted to do was leave a comment on this thread letting everyone know how wonderful I think you all are for sharing your answers to this question. It's actually the very first question I ask anyone who I know has had the surgery! Thanks!!
