  1. I can only have clear liquids, so having greek yogurt in anything is an issue. I did add a scoop to my chicken broth this afternoon & I would sooner die a 1,000 deaths that eat that again.
  2. I know there are probably 100,000 posts about this but Im being too lazy to look. Im 5 days post op and I feel ok, but I know Im not getting my protein. I take 3 sips of the shake & Im full. It took my 45 mins to drink 6oz's. And I had to keep adding ice cause warm shakes are nasty.... Is there any easier way to get protein in??? My Dr. suggested 50-60mg per day. I only have 20 today
  3. I am 5 days post-op & have had the same feelings, but remember YOU WILL EAT AGAIN. You just wont be able to stuff yourself. You will still be able to eat the things you enjoy. It will just take awhile. I have to keep telling myself this. "I will eat that again....in moderation" . I feel like garbage right now too, but theres no turning back. We just need to get past the first couple weeks!!!
  4. I agree with the walking. I also had my surgery on Wed. The gas pain in my chest & back was terrible.... Gotta keep walking. And, remember it gets easier each day!
  5. I am in the same boat 4 days post-op. Day 2 was the worst day I had. I couldnt keep anything down so I was held in the hospital an extra night. The pain from the incision isnt that bad part for me. Its the lack of energy & the headaches. Im having a hard time getting in all mu liquid, but its my first day home & I need to really get a schedule down tomorrow. Im a bad planner & its reflecting . Believe me when I say Day 4 will be better than day 2.
  6. im afraid of that myself. im just having my 1st shake & I know im not getting enough water. its very hard cause i feel full, but i guess i have to buckle down & keep drinking.
  7. I am also 4 days out. I just got home today because I was unable to keep anything down. I dont feel as if Im getting enough liquid in. Im trying my first shake right now, but its taking me forever to drink. Everyday it gets a little better, but I do miss food. Just remember WE WILL EAT AGAIN. this is only temporary. I feel like garbage. Some people just have an easier time than others. We just happen to be the ones who are having a not so good time. Im experiencing terrible headaches more than anything.
  8. I do take an antidepressant, but I only stopped taking it the night of surgery. Ive been back on them since day 2 & felt fine. I just came home today. About an hour after I came home the headache started
  9. HEADEACHES.... Im not taking any medication .. not even the pain meds ( no lortab). Its terrible & Im not sure if its normal to have such terrible headaches..
  10. I also take effexor & felt like garbage the day after surgery. Mine is an XR. My Dr. told me I could take it as normal since it is an extended release. I was opening the capsule & swallowing it with water! Yuck, but it stayed down.
  11. I know everyone says it at one point or another, but man do I regret this. I'm only 2 days out. Can't keep anything down, hiccups & gas are killing me. I've been trying to walk as much as possible , but the dry heaves are the worst. I have to stay an additional night until I can keep something down... Anyone else have issues keeping everything down ????
  12. Me too.... Im looking at people before & after pics to keep me from chickening out!! I cant sleep either.. Good Luck
  13. Thanks! I get motion sickness so I know I will need something
  14. My surgery is tomorrow afternoon & I was supposed to get a patch for behind my ear to help with nausea. Well, I forgot to get it!!!!!!!!! I woke up to a caved in ceiling & being told I need a new roof...... Ugh, am I in trouble?????
  15. I'm also going tomorrow. Terrified. And, I cant sleep. My surgery isnt until 12:30!! Ive been pretty dehydrated on the pre-op too. Best of luck to you.
  16. Just got the call. Tomorrow @ 12:30. Im a nervous wreck. Having major doubts but I fought too hard & too long not to do it!
  17. I also have the 2 week pre-op & 2 week post-op. Are you allowed anything else besides the protein shakes??? I can have broth, smooth greek yogurt, cream of wheat, and the shakes. I had to do the diet once before (denied 2 days before surgery so I did the entire diet once before). I didnt like the shakes but they kept me full. Protein is a very important key to this success of the surgery. Ask your surgeon what else you can have. And drink lots of water!!
  18. Im the 27th & Im terrified.
  19. I am also on the 27th! Except I get to start my liquid diet tomorrow...... ugh. Ive done it once before (was supposed to have surgery in Feb, but insurance denied me 2 days before), so I know what Im in store for.
  20. I was just confirmed for June 27th!!!! Nasty liquid diet starts tomorrow (ugh)
  21. Approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This just goes to show not to give up! Now, I can really start my journey!
  22. Well, I was denied (after the 6 months of hell) because my BMI is under 50. My insurance stated it was not 'medically necessary". I also had the 2 denials from the insurance through their appeal process. When I got my 2nd denial letter there was a part stating that I had the right to an external appeal. So I personally wrote 15 pages on my own siting various sites ( even my own insurance companies site), showing that it IS medically necessary. The other pages were all my medical history, notes from my surgeon, dietitian, Pysch Eval, and multiple works cited. It was like being back in college. I just got word today that the external appeal party has found it medically necessary. Now, he did tell me this doesn't mean the insurance has to pay for it, but most companies dont want to deal with a lawsuit. External appeals are done on a Federal level.
  23. Have you tried an external appeal??? I just got my approval today from the external. Yes, it was a long process that took months. But, after the tears shed, & a 57 page appeal letter it worked.
  24. Well, after starting this journey almost a year ago, doing the whole 6 months, getting denied 3 days before surgery, and then being denied TWICE by the insurance appeal.....................My external review found surgery medically necessary!!!!!!!!!!!! So, does this mean my insurance has to approve the surgery?? Or can I still get stuck paying the bill??
  25. I started my journey one year ago & just got my approval from the external review today. Just dont loose hope. Keep trucking along. Live like you normally would.
