Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
April 9 here! I have to say I feel amazing. I almost feel like I shouldn't feel this good?!? I'm able to get in 64+ oz of fluid since day 3 and I have had not one bit of nausea. I basically have a drink beside me at all times sipping away. I still have mild discomfort in my shoulder. My incisions are healing beautifully but I am still sore. Hurts to get up and down. I just hold my belly and that helps. So far so good with this!!!! Best wishes to you all.

Pre Op Diet! Annoyed!
Get some Extra sf gum! They have apple pie, strawberry shortcake and mint chocolate chip! It helped me get the chew craving curbed.

Not At All What I Expected!
What is your post op diet? I'm also 5 days out and only allowed liquids. You say you're trying to follow the 1/2 hr no drinking before meal rule. Right now the most important thing u can do is drink drink drink. Im so sorry your not feeling well. Keep drinking and walking when u can. Hang in there.

Newbie
I'm 4 days post op. are you sipping small sips and only one sip at a time? That's what I've been doing and I'm managing to get 64oz in each day. I prefer the ice cold. Maybe ur drinking too big too fast?

Trouble Getting Protein And Fluids Help?
I'm actually really surprised with how much fluid I've been aw to take in. My surgery was Monday. So only 4 days post and yesterday I got in around 70oz total of liquids. That includes crystal light, broth, water, diluted apple juice, and a protein shake. I make my shake with water. So it's not thick. Each drink takes me awhile to finish, but basically there hadn't been a time where I don't have a drink near me, sipping. Just try to keep it with you and take 2 sips every 5min or so.

I Can't Do Th Is. I Still Want To Do The Hernia Repair Though.
I agree if you're having doubts don't do it. 200 is not so bad. You can lose 40lbs. You need to be 110% sure about your decision. The pre op diet sucks. I'm sure that made ur decision. Lol. But it does get better. The first 2 days suck. Then ur body gets used to it.

My Vertical Sleeve Journey
Hi heather. First, congrats on making this life changing decision. Me and you are identical. My journey began last August. I weighed 400lbs. I am also 35. I was sick when I got on that scale and saw that number. Although not surprised it was so high. I had to do 6months of pre surgery studies and documented weight loss attempts in order for my insurance to approve it. So in those 6-7 months I lost 70 lbs on my own. Dr wanted me to try to lose 40. But I was determined. Sooooooo this past Monday the 9 th I had my surgery! I went in at around 331. My stupid battery on my scale died so I haven't weighed myself. Which in a way is good so I'm not obsessing. Anyway, You made the right decision. We're too young to feel this crappy. I don't know if u have kids but I have a six yr old and want to more involve in fun stuff with her. Im so sick of being the fat mom and the biggest person in the room. So excited for you keep us posted on your journey!

Barrett's Esophogas
My surgery is this monday the 9th. Because I was cleared of the Barrett's is why I can be sleeved. I do have esophagitis which I take a med called Dexilant daily. I don't FEEL any reflux but my doc said u don't have to feel it to have it.

Barrett's Esophogas
Hi!! Yes I had to have 2 endoscopies done. The first one 'suspected' the Barrett's. Because of this, I had to go for an EUS which is a endoscopic ultra sound. This is a much more thorough test and they actually biopsy the esophagus. I was told that a regular endo doesn't see as much as the eus. By having this done, they saw no indication of Barrett's. My surgeon told me the same thing. Sleeve is not recommended for ppl with barretts. Can cause severe acid reflux, and can cause esophageal cancer. Most ppl who have Barrett's never know they even have it. I'm thankful it was ruled out for me. Did they suggest an EUS for you?
